why do you guys need to wait in line the first day
are they going to run out of iphones in the next few days after its release
basically they don't have anything more important to do, and the best they can do is be the first person with the device so that they can show off to their friends
sad really :/
The only time it makes sense to wait in line is if there is a LIMITED quantity ( thus making a profit on ebay later on )
Nothing more important to do? It's a fun experience. There is nothing wrong with being the first person to have something. Why do people camp out for CD's, book releases, sports tickets, and anything else?
There is a limited quality. Everyone has always said Apple has plenty to go around. This was said last year. It wasn't the case. And it won't be the case this year again probably. AT&T stores sell out within hours and Apple stores sell out within the day, or weekend depending on location.
New iPhone sales on eBay on the weekend they are released are usually triple the amount paid, and usually more.
Its likely if they were going to they'd wait till its announced, but why should they?

Plus odds are most people won't cancel there contract and then renew it and get the new iPhone. If people decide to cancel money for AT$T. They really lose very little by not giving any upgrade option.

I think the only incentive for AT&T 3G owners will be a discounted price like last year. But, then again, the 2G was not subsidized which meant the 3G was cheap.

What an absurd comment. So what if we want new things first? That is a very immature statement to make saying how we wait in line for something new thus we don't have friends.
I'm not saying you don't have friends, I'm saying there are better things to do then wait in line, with mostly strangers.

First off... Many people go with their friends. Its a communal event. The people that are really out there are usually Mac Junkies and everyone immediately has something in common to talk about. I'm not saying that I will be waiting outside, nor have I ever. But all of your statements have been ridiculous, ignorant, and inaccurate.
Heck last year, my superintendent came and I didn't realize it was him until we started talking about education and college. You can meet a lot of great people there and almost everyone is nice there. Some shared their food, chairs, or PSP with each other to pass time.
On your other post + this one, is it that hard to fit a few hours into your schedule to wait in line? What person is constantly doing something? You also mention real friends. You're implying that if someone isn't studying or with real friends, what are they suppose to do that isn't as asinine to wait in line for a phone/

I think Apple would create buzz leading up to a release of a new iPhone. They may not release pics of it, but they would have teaser ads running everywhere. For that reason I believe that a lot of you will be let down on the 8th! Cheers!
Right because they do that allllll the time obviously if a new product was coming we'd have seen a billion ads just like the Blackberry Storm's.
