User-wise... Stability. Continue to fine-tune and improve the migration assistant (last migration was the best yet, but still some rough areas).

Developer-wise... Proper basic parity between AppKit/UIKit and SwiftUI. As a developer, it's been frustrating trying to migrate due to the missing pieces.

Please, please, please, fix the buggy Home app that drops connections to devices on the regular. And whether it's iCloud or Siri or whatever, please fix the glitch that causes my Homepods to consistently switch OFF Personal Requests for my wife, no matter how many times she turns them on...

A small but unbelievable that it's not there in 2022: parity with Mac OS Contacts when it comes to group organization. Drives me nuts that I have to go to my Mac to drag contacts into groups.

Other than this and my Family Shared iCloud Photos Library (above), focus on stability and removal of "jank"
Couldn't agree more. It bugs me so much as well. Really can't understand why they left this option almost to be forgotten. Even in macOS, it's not as intuitive. They should just add a field called "group".

Support for multiple users -- especially useful for iPads, but I could think of a few instances of why a basic user like would share my iPhone once in a while (to let children play, for instance).

Also, more consistence between macOS apps and iOS apps. There are still simple things that don't work the same between the devices, such as Calendar, Contacts, etc.

Fluidity between devices has always been my selling point for jumping into Apple's ecosystem. It could be even better.

FIX THE CAMERA APP!
1. Allow users to turn off HDR/Deep fusion
2. Fix HDR/Deep fusion so that the processing doesn't destroy images. I'm sure this will be an iterative process over several releases and versions of the OS because of the complexity of the problem. To date, I don't even consider this releasable. It's still in a beta state.
3. Give the camera app manual (M) mode to allow photographer complete control over the camera.

I want a single feature added to iOS and iPad OS: when I play music in the Music app, _nothing_ should be allowed to interrupt or stop it. It should only stop playing when I specifically tell it to. No web audio/video, no other apps, no ads… nothing should make my music stop.

- Ability to default maps to NOT apple maps (i.e. Google Maps).
- Easier way to reorganize icons across multiple screens
- Improved messaging/dialogues about sync status for anything that's longer than a couple of minutes. Show me how much time is left, how many items left to sync, just ANYTHING Apple.

1. Up-next widget
2. Useful widgets
3. Keyboard improvements (re-size, move the dot button, use the bottom gray area, word suggestions appearing over the keys)
4. Reduce power hungry trackers, like those in Macrumors forums, which make the phone warm in Safari!
5. Unlock with face mask and no Apple Watch.
6. Edit a mistyped number in the dial app!!

I’d like a completely redesigned home app and Siri redeveloped from the ground up. Other than that I’d like that after many, many years with hardly any new feature next iOS is actually exciting and packed with stuff.

I never thought I'd say this but I find iOS a bit bland and boring these days. That's why I'm strongly considering buying an S22 Ultra when it comes out. iOS not only needs bugs fixed but I think it's due for a redesign as well. When I last used Android back on an Galaxy S4, it was pure garbage (IMO) but these days Android is as good as iOS in many ways thus why I'm considering giving Android another chance.

  • Battery % for all iCloud connected Apple devices displayed in the battery widget, show/hide customisation
  • Let me move HomeKit controls from Control Centre to my near-empty iPad Lock Screen
  • Why does iOS/Photos restrict what can be done with imported photos vs. photo stream? The whole photo syncing process needs overhauling
  • The Home app needs prebuilt shortcuts for complex actions like two PIR sensors individually triggering a group of lights, similar to Philips Hue labs’ sensor couple
  • Arranging Home Screen app icons and widgets is unpredictable and frustrating, probably even more so if you regularly change portrait/landscape orientation, this needs a rethink
  • Safari’s frequently visited websites has never populated in iOS 15 for me, it is enabled in customise start page
There’s more but I’m bored of thinking about it.

BTW Have you looked at Halide? It might give you the control you want (though not over Deep Fusion)

- Focus on stability and bug squashing, so no buggy GM release like iOS15.
- Focus on performance and battery life
- Official stance not going forward with the mass scanning system
- Compartmentalisation of stock apps so they can be updated independently. There's no reason for Safari updates to be tied to the whole OS, especially if Apple is still supporting the -1 OS.

Smartphone OS have had all the basics nowadays, that any new features are not that "must-have" anymore.

I want fewer new features of questionable use and more focus on stability and bug-fixing.

I also think users should be able to delete (or at least completely hide) features they really don't want -- like the App Library. Again, fewer new features and more reliability.

Slowing down the release of new OS's to every other year should be seriously considered. Did I mention that there should be less emphasis on new features on more on making sure things work properly?

1. My number one wish for Apple with their OSes is to just keep everything up to date and developed, with concentration on fixing bugs.
For example Weather, Clock, Contacts, Voice Memos etc are barely updated and they all buggy. Widgets are half done and they do not work well with Siri.
2. I can't imagine that Siri will be fixed, but it's just a pathetic failure. It is especially bad for any multilingual or multi-country set up. There are so many low hanging fruits that Apple does not address for years.
3. Achilles' heel of Apple is search. Anything search related is very poorly done. Search in files, search in Music, search in AppStore are failing basic functionality.
4. There should be some way to enter an admin mode so you are not prompted for passwords dozen times in short time.
5. Limited Contacts sharing mode, similar to how you can share only a general location with some apps.
6. Folders on the Home screen are outdated, and it's too finicky to work with them. I wish that would improve
7. Better synchronization. I still have to do so many of the same things on many devices. All those should be saved in the cloud and be in sync (with an option to make an exception on per item, per device basis)
8. Messages, FaceTime and ScreenSharing need to merge into one communication app.
9. Better family photo library capabilities
10. My last wish is about a decent music app, the one that works, and allows me to use my collection. I am not sure if it's required to separate it into two apps, one for Apple music and one for My Music, but what they have right now just does not really work well at all.
