Apps World's First Sleep Tracker for Apple Watch with Motion Tracking

Looking good, getting excited for the update!

Will the syncing be more seamless? Or will it be the same method as it currently is?

Dramatically more seamless. It instantly happens upon waking after the data is processed on the watch. You don't need the iPhone app open at moment of sync either.

Oh man, i'd love to try your app, any chanches to get a code from you? Thank you

There probably won't be any more promo codes — just a process I follow only upon releasing a new app. Rarely if ever among updates to do release any more promo codes.

Though Apple needs to review the app before anything can happen!

Yup I am looking forward to its release as well, I will update this thread when it moves into "In Review" on Apple's part.

Hello Users,

Though Sleep Pulse 2 Motion is still currently waiting review — for those with a new 6s iPhone I wanted to give you an idea how it will be used in the new update. Sleep Pulse 2 Motion includes two new graphs a Motion Graph and a Sleep Analysis Chart (as I am calling it) along with the Heart Rate graph because of this there are many representations of your sleep. For example on the Trends Chart view you will be able to peek into the actual motion graph of the night of data your looking at (you slept or fell asleep chart) though if you are instead looking at the mean bpm chart a peek will show you the heart rate graph. Then pop into either night if you choose. Below is a peek of a peek in SP2M.

(this is not a HR graph from an actual sleep, was created for testing purposes)

P.S. In case you are curious what is going on with the naming scheme — Sleep Pulse 2 Motion — basically I didn't feel ready to remove the Pulse from Sleep Pulse just yet even though the update is now focused around Motion. I debated calling it Sleep Motion or Sleep Motion Pulse, though decided Sleep Pulse 2 Motion would do for now. And yes this will be a free update no new downloads or in app purchases involved...And you will not need a brand spankin new 6s for use, just an iPhone 5 and above with iOS 9 and an Apple Watch with watchOS 2.

These teasers are killing me. I am super excited for the update. A good sleep tracker is what Apple Watch has been missing the most for me and it looks like you've nailed it with this update.

I'll say also there is definitely a lot more I want to add to it — though the foundation of the current iteration was based off other other sleep trackers on the market and then extras I added. :) Wish Apple would review faster, they use to have two tracks for reviewing apps one for updates and one for new apps — since the Apple Watch those two tracks seemed to disappear, with there being only one now.

Been using your app for a few weeks and I love it. For those thinking of buying it, it's totally worth it.

Is there any way in the future to cut off the end of the tracking after or while syncing? Happened twice this week that I forgot to wake the app. One time I went for a run and then remembered. Really messed up the times.

Couldn't wait any longer had to download last night, so far so good.
BUT for some reason it hasn't recorded the "Fell Asleep" section, all other sections worked.
maybe it'll work tonight, as last night was a test run for me.

With the Heart Rate this must be manually added, though don't fret soon with Sleep Pulse 2 this will be automatic.

Some unfortunate news from App Review — soo... they rejected the app because I did not "clearly identify HealthKit in the app's UI to avoid confusion".... I guess it is my fault:(...App Review just causes me to go bonkers sometimes — even though it clearly asks for your Health permission and explains it in the marketing description and photos.... I sent in another update almost immediately I really hope they don't shove me to the back of the queue now.

Though this time I also put in an expedited request — because in the current version there actually is a bug affected some users which this update does fix. I hope they take that into consideration and review the app.

I apologize to those waiting, I know you have been waiting patiently.

For those curious and other developers here is the actual rejection from Apple. I contacted the reviewer and clarified the 27.6 — turns out I did have information in my marketing text.

Though concerning in the app's UI the reviewer did not "feel" it was prominent enough... The walled garden...

At least it sounds like an easy fix.
Oh yes its an easy fix which is why its not fun. I have been a developer publishing apps wth the app store for a long time. Not to long ago there were two significant things different with the app review process, 1. New apps and updates had different tracks to be reviewed, so if you had a new app it may take you 7 days to be reviewed though updates would be 4 days because most updates added minimal changes — it seems here Apple has decided to review each app from bottom up, which ok I can understand if you want the best quality apps.

Though 2. is more troubling, before if you had an app rejected like now you could create a fix and resubmit the binary most of the time it is little stuff like this that rejects apps — and when you resubmitted your binary it would go straight back into review. Now though even for the smallest issue Apple places you back the beginning of the app review queue which I at least don't think is very cool, I don't know if they are trying to punish you or trying to give you a new app reviewer...

Morning, think i might be missing a step here as it happened again, i have checked all the setting for the Health app to use your app. and everything is ticked on.
not sure why it's not showing the fell asleep section.

Gutted about the rejection from apple, but we all know how tough they are, fingers crossed version 2 will be here soon.

Because with watchOS 1.01 Sleep Pulse is only able to use your Heart Rate, the fell asleep durations must be added manually. This is done by dragging along the initial sync graph to where it looks like your Heart Rate dropped, signifying when you fell asleep. This is not automatic because of how varying heart health is (though on average the human heart drops approx 8% into deep sleep). I demonstrate this at about 26 seconds here
.

Though this will all change when Sleep Pulse 2 Motion is released and be able to automatically calculate your feel asleep times with motion.

Man i must have had some strange nightmares early hours of the morning for my heart rate to jump that high. 121bpm

i did wear it on my other wrist though, just to see if it was more or less accurate.
anyone less find switching wrist has a different bpm reading. (that's a general question not relating to this app)

Something is not quite right with HRM since WatchOS2. It seems to take an initial inaccurate reading at times (a high reading), then in a few seconds, it becomes accurate. You can test this be manually initiating a reading, and you will see that it will sometimes read high for the first reading, then settle into the correct reading. Unfortunately, it records this bad reading, and thus Sleep Pulse uses it.

To illustrate, just manually took my pulse .. it was 52. Hit the heart screen in glances, AW is searching for a reading ... first reading is 88, then 74, then 52. It was 52 the entire time since I was sitting quietly at my desk.

It didn't do this in 1.0.1. .. more bugs that Apple with probably never fix.

The update has been approved! Some minor technicalities need to be ironed out with the website first — though I expect to make it live tonight Pacific Time. You will probably have to go through one more night with 1.0 because it can take about 12-24 hrs for the update to go through on Apple's side — though Saturday morning check the App Store for the 2.0 update. I'll update this thread when I push it to the App Store as well. :)

Big Changes Coming Very Very Soon!

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Looks like the update is active now (at least in California).

Yup just went live, it will start appearing across other app stores over the next 12 hours.

For anyone: If anything weird is going on with the update process send me a message here or reach me at 2032appcontact@gmail.com. I know personally that watch apps for some reason don't update as fast as the iOS app — sometimes a restarting of your Apple Watch is needed and in this app's case motion must be enabled from the iOS app before first sleep from the watch app.
