As the previous post said — Sleep Pulse 2 Motion is now live for a Happy Saturday. Before I post the release notes be sure to check out the new support website, for those who have used Sleep Pulse the process has changed for tracking your sleep http://spencerbrown.pancakeapps.com/sleep-pulse-support.html The first post of this thread I will update with new app images as well.

What's New for 2.0

Welcome to Sleep Pulse 2 Motion!

Sleep Pulse 2 with watchOS 2 puts your Apple Watch to work while you sleep, tracking your motion, heart rate and nightly steps to give you the best picture of your sleep habits.
For those who have been using Sleep Pulse 1 for a while now bear with this reading, there is A LOT new!

*Install on watchOS 2 - If the actual watch app does not seem to be updating (the new icon should be blue on your Apple Watch) uninstall the watch app only, reinstall it, then restart your Apple Watch, visit Troubleshooting for more help*

**Motion tracking must be enabled from your iPhone before use from the watch app**

Apple Watch App with watchOS 2
• Motion Tracking, now complete the picture of your sleep with motion analysis — receive automatic fell asleep times, information about awake, light sleep, and deep sleep stages of your sleep
• Watch Preview of Sleep Graphs, each morning view a brief analysis of your motion and heart rate all from your watch while your watch syncs the data to your iPhone in the background
• Native application, start and stop your sleep without needing an iPhone nearby (though your iPhone will be needed to store the sleep history)
• Complication Support, view a progress circle about your sleep goal from the previous night, or even more information with the modal view complication (sleep goal on Apple Watch may take one night to set)
• Glance Support, view last night's sleep from the Glance
• Cancel Sleep, you can now start your sleep, change your mind, cancel the sleep, go watch a movie — then come back and start it

iOS 9 App
*The trends/charts data will have a one time reset (this will never happen again) upon update to account for the new motion data, your Sleep Goal will be reset as well*
• Brand New Look, redesigned for presenting your data, the app is sculpted around large graphs in portrait or landscape (rotate for even larger graphs) and large text keeping the visualization of your sleep at center stage
• Better Sleep Analysis, analysis now includes automatic fell asleep time calculations and sleep stage durations in awake, light sleep, and deep sleep
• Motion Graph, alongside the heart rate graph is the new motion graph. The motion graph displays the intensity of your movements for each night— the higher the spike the more movement that occurred at that time, with a flat line indicating virtually no movement.
• Sleep Analysis Chart, this new chart takes information from the motion graph and presents it in an easier to read format dividing your sleep stages apart.
• 3D Touch Support, for those with a pretty new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus you can peek and pop into the stats of your sleep on the sleep view. While on the chart view you can peek and pop into the graph that aligns with that specific night of data — It's really cool to peek and pop through your data!
• Background Sync, no more having to open the iPhone app each morning at the instant you wake up. When you stop your sleep from your watch it will be transferred to your iPhone — which will present you with a notification when the sleep data synced
• Bugs SQUASHED, for those having sync troubles or inconsistencies in your data it is all cleaned up now

An Update for Power Nap and Sleep Bundle Users
For those who have downloaded Power Nap, don’t fret, I have not forgotten about it. I plan to connect Power Nap with Sleep Pulse. Power Nap in use will still remain the simple app I intended it to be, however I plan for it to track data similar to Sleep Pulse (such as your motion or heart rate). This data will be synced with the Sleep Pulse app and presented alongside your longer nightly sleep data. Be on the lookout for it in the future.

**Sleep Pulse 2 Motion uses Health and Motion to track and record your sleep.**

Check out the support website for the new instructions, troubleshooting, and tips.

Think about leaving a review if you like, and if you don't like please contact me — both push me to improve the app!

Hey, just installed the update and everything worked fine.

Two small things,

- if i enable Motion and Health in the iPhone settings, can you add a "enabled" sign or something in the app?
- i still need to start sllep on the app and end it, or just leave it on my wrist an do nothing?

Thanks and regards, keep goin :)

Just bought the combo pack with exercise pulse (first impressions of exercise isn't great, so maybe I'll ask for a refund for that part), and really like to know the above as well.

Will the tracking start automatically, or do I need to launch the app when I go to bed, or do I need to laugh the app and press the screen to start? Isn't clear to me either...

Yes I will do that, did you have trouble enabling motion at the beginning? I know I say in like 10 different places that motion must be enabled I do this because it is the one area where if motion is not enabled the watch app just spins and loads when trying to start your sleep — sometimes restarting the watch is even needed to confirm motion is enabled.

On the second thing — yes unfortunately and I will say it for others interested as well, the two things that I was unable to implement because of restrictions for recording motion on watchOS 2 was automatic detection of sleep ( so you will need to start and stop manually each morning to track your sleep) and an alarm that wakes you up in a good sleep phase. Both of these are because as far as I can assume battery life — this is not possible with watchOS 2 if the recording is done solely from the watch as Sleep Pulse 2 Motion does. Apple only provides developers with a way to get data recorded in the background when the watch app is active.

Concerning Exercise Pulse you can private message me or send me an email (email may be better at the moment because this weekend I am trying to make sure all goes well with the app's launch).

The other question hopefully you saw what I replied and explained a little bit about why this is not possible now — I created a walkthrough video for this update steps are essentially the same as before — except you don't need the iPhone app open to sync across the data now immediately.

Didn't have any problems enabling it and checked as you mentioned in the privacy setting. Just a nice to have, if you see in your app that those things are enabled :)

Seemed to work great for me last night!

That is awesome to hear! Feel free to post the screenshots of your sleep (or private message me) I would like to see how its working in the real world.

Very excited to try this out tonight.

I made the mistake of updating the app before I sent the data from 1.0 to the phone so lost out on one night of data. Not a big deal though

Ya, exactly all those with auto update on lost unfortunately lost out all their data as well. I didn't have a say when the update went live though it coulda been better timed. However, the data from now on will be a lot better.

Here you go. The "awake time" for last night seems a little off, I don't remember being awake 2h 49m, but maybe I was restless in my sleep? Not sure.

Any other time. It's not a big deal to drop it on the charger an hour before you go to bed or while your showering and getting dressed in the AM. There is nothing special about charging while you sleep. It seems to go from about 40% charged to near 100% in an hour or so.

With every update I am working on improving the sleep algorithm — tonight maybe try wearing on your other hand I'd be curious to know if you et different results. Also is anyone else in the bed, I am also curious if another person's movements may affect what the watch reads (the watch is extremely precise).

If you're wearing while you sleep when are you charging it

I'll even add if you turn your watch to airplane mode it drastically reduces battery consumption. On a 38mm I tested (having a smaller battery than the 42mm) it lost only 11% for an average sleep. You just have to remember to turn off airplane mode before you wake so the data can auto-sync with the iPhone app.

Chart button is not responsive on ip6+ tho

After your first night of sleep it should become active, if it still is not active after your first night of sleep try force quitting the app and relaunching it.

Here are the "results" from my first night with the app enabled (also the first night I kept my watch on during the night). It was a bad night....so I do feel the graphs are correct.. Had the watch on my dominant hand, will wear it on the non-dominant this night.
