I ordered an original and also an ultra to compare. I started with the ultra and ended up taking the back section off. I didn't like the way the install turned out. It had bubbles and fingerprints where I gripped it. I found that when I tried to start from the top (by the camera) and eased my way down with the squeegee it stretched slightly and ended up being too long at the bottom.

With the original (wet application), I just sprayed the backing, dropped it on and wiped the bubbles and excess water out. It's perfect.

I got edges with both sets. One appears to be a wet application (original) and the ultra just sticks on. I didnt compare the thickness to see if they were different.

I don't have my camera for pictures, but I can answer questions if anyone has any.

Great that you've got both to be able to do a fair comparison. I understand this is a subjective question, but bubbles aside, does the original-matte look better than the glossy-ultra on the iPhone 4?

Well I got a tracking number for my ultra.

Does it attach like a Power Support film, or does it have a residue on it? If it attaches like a PS film, then there should be no issues with dust and prints given its handled properly. If it's the latter, then I'm gonna wish I ordered the original, or that someone makes some replacement back cases for the iPhone asap.

How does the MATTE back look and feel? Anything like the one for the 3GS?

Thanks!

I'd like to know this as well. My ultra is sitting on my front porch right now but I'm not even sure if I'm going to install it until after my Genius bar appt on Sunday.

I'd love to know as well if it helps the reception issues.

Anyway you could post some pics of your phone? I have the matte finish on my 3GS and was always impressed, so I just ordered the Ultra kit for my iP4. Just curious as to what it looks like when applied, if you can even see it in pics.

Also, the Wrapsol on my 3GS never showed any signs of peeling up. Do you feel the dry application will have the same results? I know smaller pieces, especially those on the sides and corners, may have a greater tendency to start to peel.

You do know the Ultra does not have a matte back, right?

Yeah, I don't really want matte for the new phone anyways. Honestly, I wish I didn't feel the need to have any sort of protection for the phone as it looks and feels much better naked (imo).

No, it has a hole cut for the LED. All spots where there needs to be no film (front camera, back camera, dock connector, speakers/mics, headphone jack, toggle switch) there is no film covering.

Thanks for the reply!

They are completely different backs. The ultra is glossy and the original is matte.

Thank you for your review tenbaseg! How does the matte look on the iP4? How does it feel? I have never had a wrapsol on any of my iPhones but this thread has talked me into getting one. I think I would prefer the matte finish on the back but I am unsure yet. Any info you could give on how the back looks/feels would be great :D

Thanks so much!!!

If anyone else has the Wrapsol original on their iP4 any input on the matte would be great!! Pictures would be appreciated if you have them. Thanks!

I should be getting the Ultra in on Monday. I thought about the matte finish, but I feel like that would detract from the sexy back. So, I decided against it.

Just got Wrapsol Ultra in, application was a lot of trouble, the dry application does not allow you to re-position it while still on phone. Also, it was shipped with the side pieces STUCK to the screen shield, so it has a a huge adhesive line on the front screen shield that is impossible to get off!
