Well I got my Ultra today after much delay and reading about what to expect. It was shipped on Monday so maybe before the date they said they were sending out the better ones.

The first thing I noticed that both films were stuck together. They were stuck together really good too!! When I tried to take the back piece off to apply, I really had to PULL HARD! Both pieces sort of curled after I separated them.

I placed it on the back after spraying it a bit like some had advised (this was the first time I've ever done a wet install). It went on pretty easily I thought. I smoothed it with a credit card.

Then I noticed that because the front piece was stuck with the back piece (the part that goes on the phone, not the plastic film covering the adhesive), it left an impression.

I tried to rub it but it's not coming off.

It's pretty disappointed that they would send out quality like this.

I'm debating still whether to try it again or just get a refund.

My review of the Wrapsol Ultra

Received my Ultra today. I went with the steamy bathroom application method described earlier. As expected it came with the side pieces stuck to the front, leaving several watermarks all across the top half of the piece. There are 90 degree scratches running along the top of the screen, running horizontally and vertically. Once applied, this ended up causing a distortion of the viewing screen which becomes very noticeable when browsing. It might be my imagination kicking in, but the retina display (which I've been very pleased with) no longer seems to have that "wow" factor with the Wrapsol applied. Again, might just be me.

The back piece has instructions imprinted on a couple spots and a long mar running down one side. The camera flash gets severely overexposed in some cases (I believe) due to the cover coming too close to the LED.

The side pieces wound up being the best part. While they look off-kilter and uneven as shipped, they're very stretchy and were easily adaptable to cover nearly everything they were meant to be placed on. While there might be scratches on them, the steel they cover hides it pretty well, so they look fine.

Using the side pieces makes the Apple Bumper a bit awkward to use as well. Combined, they add quite a bit of bulk to the upper left -> upper right corners of the case which push it up; adding a loose, squishy feel in what used to be a tight fit. The +/- and power buttons are near flush with the Wrapsol side pieces. Once the bumper is in place I find that I need to push the (-) and power buttons with some force to get them to depress, and they no longer give a tactile click when pressed. The + button and silent/mute switch seem to be fine.

I also noticed in softly trying to get a small piece of lint off the front piece that my nail made a noticeable indentation, enough to show small lines now anytime the screen is well-lit. It's very discouraging. I want this skin to work out, and it feels great even on the front side. I'll give the replacement a shot, and hopefully I'll have better luck, but I may ultimately end up going another direction regardless (especially considering the overexposure issue I'm having with the LED).

I upped a short video to youtube showing how the pieces were stuck together. Sorry for the poor lighting, etc. I'm pretty terrible with cameras. Shot on the iPhone 4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0wu3iroU5k

And here are some pics:

A lot of these Ultra skins are scratched up and all.

So even if we do get replacements, does that mean ultra skins will scratch easily as well as get "imprints" on the surface over time?

I've used bestskinsever for years now and they barely ever scratch. I decided to order wrapsol because I thought they would be better quality. Now I'm starting to think there isn't any difference other than price

I got mine today and it's complete rubbish. Ordered a replacement hoping it's better than the first batch.

The side pieces where stuck to the front.

I finally got mine today. I ordered the Ultra and Original. Ultra came with the sides all jacked like others have seen. The original didn't look like there was any issues.

Here is the original back about 1 minute after installing. I'm not sure why others are complaining, but I think it looks pretty darn good. Maybe the matte just hides any lint or anything. Now I'm afraid to do the front, but I'll give it a try when I have time.

I had to laugh at this point Wrapsol just sees to be the latest supplier / vender that screwed up in this iPhone 4 mess.

I think most of us were expecting to receive something that looked like this image from the wrapsol.com site https://www.wrapsol.com/Assets/UPHAP003_20100624181815_small_thumb_6.jpg :(

The junk that most if not all of have received does not seem to come close to what was advertised.

Like many others, I have requested my "warranty" replacement as requested but no joy yet. Wrapsol and Yellow Frog seem to enjoy twitter.com but they appear to be leaving their best customer references in the "DARK" here on MacRumors, where did you go Mr. Yellow Frog? :(

First off, why does your back piece look like it has a cutout circle in the middle? You have the camera and led cutouts, but it looks like there's an additional circle in the middle. Maybe it's the several beers I've had.

I applied my Ultra tonight. It kinda sucks. Mine basically looks like above. It may clear up over the next several hours, and I hope it does. But if it doesn't, I'll probably keep the sides and back on anyways, but the screen film will drive me nuts, it looks like crap. While I probably haven't let enough time pass for it to dry and adhere, it still looks like a wet crt, meaning it looks like I can see the RGB pixels. It's hard to explain, but it looks like **** compared to the phone's gorgeous naked screen.

This is where my problem is. I like the scratch protection of the Wrapsol alone, then with an accompanying bumper it would be well protected. In fact, I have the matte finish on my old black 3GS. It looks fantastic. But after going naked since the Wed. delivery, all of the cases and skins and whatever else take so much away from a naked iPhone.

I'll probably keep the Wrapsol on until it starts gathering too much lint from my pocket. But if the screen doesn't clear up within the next couple of days, I'll just take it off. The naked iP4 screen looks too nice to cover it up, even if it does prevent you from getting a few scratches. And the sides, I much prefer the feel of the bare aluminum over the feel of a plastic film.

That image / impression you see for the "Home" button is because the front film was stuck to the back film and left that imprint. The text imprint from the instructions is even worse.

I received my Ultra yesterday, and like the others here, all the pieces were stuck together. Once I separated them the install went very smoothly, there were lots of bubbles but they are slowly going away. My issue is that there is a visible square on the screen protector making anything under it look fuzzy and hazy, making the crystal clear retina display look like total crap in that portion of the screen. I sent a message via the website and hopefully will get a replacement, otherwise I'll be getting a refund and buying from another company.

All you guys gotta do is go to the warranty link on their site, put in your order #, and request a replacement. The first batch was rubbish. They'll send you a new set that's 100x better than the crap they sent out. Up to you guys though. It's a bummer Wrapsol is losing business because of a crappy first release. (Reminds me of another first release that happened recently that didn't quite go off without a hitch). If it means anything to anyone, I'm sticking with Wrapsol because I know it's a good product... a lot better than these pics I'm seeing. Makes me shudder.

It seems like the general consensus is that wrapsol is really good with replacing the product but not so speedy on the refund. Sent two e-mails to wrapsol in the past 3 days and still no response at all about getting my refund.

It seems like from reading if you call, you'll get it done quicker.

I think I'm gonna pass on this company!

I have to agree.
preordered at 17 June
got mine 28 june. Terrible product, scratches and marks all over it. emailed to get refund, no response in two days. Called for replace and was told that I need to go through their web based replacement process to get it. ordered the replacement for both mine and my wife's films. received only one film yesterday. called again and they told me that I have to go through their replacement application twice since I had two films that need to be replaced. Went to their website and ordered again. so I am waiting for another one to come now.

By the way, I put the replacement on my iphone right away after I got it yesterday. It was about 12pm. Until now it has been 20 hours. Still got 5,6 bubbles on it. It didn't go away like they said. However, I am happy with it since it doesnt have any scratches and marks on it. it looks better than first one. I have to admit that they have very nice and friendly customer service folks. but will I buy anything from this company? NO.:apple:

Less than 10%. LOL! Just because 90% of your customers are too ignorant or lazy to order a replacement doesn't mean that only 10% of your product was defective. From what I've seen on these forums, that number is closer to 95%.

And you think 100% of their customers are posting on here? I'd say more of the people with defective products would actually be posting. We should be appreciative of the fact they are taking such an honest open approach to this situation. Their replacement policy for this is fantastic and a testament to their customer service. It's rare that representatives will actually post in forums like this, so don't ruin it with immaturity.

Just received 2 Wrapsol Ultras in the mail. Both look like this. The front is unstuck.

How hard is it to separate the skins before packaging? Maybe a different baggy?

I don't get how many people are reporting their films as being stuck to something. Are they really not separating each individual piece to the set as they should? Packaging 101 guys.

Yes it would seem like common sense. Especially from a company that seems like it's been around. I'd expect poor packaging from a crappy seller on EBay. But to even rush orders out and have them crappy makes me wonder who is working there, even though they are fixing the problem.

Although I'm dissapointed with my skins, I'm happy wrapsol's customer support has been more then accommadating with the situation. I just won't be ordering from them again. Hope everyone who requested replacements are happy the second time around.

got my wrapsol last night and applied it, it came with no problems and no scratches or anything. The front needs to settle a little more but the orange peel is minimal and i'm loving it so far.

These problems are all with Ultra right?

No one has any issues with original?

I got my Ultra replacements yesterday. My Phone is perfect now. The edges are a little fuzzy but its expected a tiny bit. Its very clear. The only issue I had was in the replacement the bottom piece where the connector was is not cut properly its to small. I just kept my old side piece from my first order from Wrapsol and changed the rest out with the new side parts.

Lots of people at this point are going to try to scam Wrapsol for the smallest issues in trying to get there money back. I hope Wrapsol is smart and not just giving everyone there money back. I rather keep my warranty and switch my films out if they can't hold up like normal.

Cry me a river. Those are the breaks when a company knowingly produces and ships defective product. It's called karma.

If Wrapsol was smart they would have prepared better and anticipated the orders coming in when the iPhone 4 was released.

Instead of waiting, they just sent out defective products.

Not so smart.
