I received 2 sets of ultras last friday and they came in pretty much the same condition as noted by many here on the forums.
I went ahead and applied the films to my phones anyway, since I figured it would be good practice and maybe they would apply ok despite the condition.
First, i applied my phone's films the way I normally would. Cleaned my work area, washed my hands really well. set out the materials and started the process. I didn't do very well on the first application. The film was misaligned on the front so i peeled it back and re-applied it. The first application looked very good, but the second was terrible. I had a lot of bubbles which didn't really want to come out. i had approx 25 to 30 bubbles. I did a better job on the back film and put it on the first try and only had 2 or 3 bubbles, but the lines from the side films were very apparent on the back.
The side films went on fine though it was pretty difficult to get some of those cutouts out of the side pieces.
I then went on their website to support and noticed the installation video for the first time.
My wife didn't want me to install on her phone after seeing my phone.
To my surprise, all the bubbles from my phone have gone after about 48 hrs. The lines on the back, while still visible have also started to fade. However, the film seems to pick up markings from whatever you leave it on. I have a wood grain desk and after sitting on it for a couple of hrs, the film picked up the wood grain markings (which also have faded).
My wife then let me install on her phone. i used their technique for the 2nd phone and the install was pretty easy and flawless. I had a total of 3 small bubbles which went away pretty quickly.
i have requested replacement films because after 72 hrs the lines from the side films are still visible. Also, one of the smaller side pieces was missing from one of the packages. The only issue with the front of my phone was that i tried too hard to push out some bubbles and right on the edge there's a mark. I didn't do that on my wife's phone's bubbles and that install is pretty flawless other than the lines on the back.
Two things:
One, the film is stretchy and can be adjusted while applied. It isn't necessary to lift and re-apply most of the time as long as you are close in your application.
Two, you really need to let it cure for about 48 hrs to make a good judgement on the film. it seems to be getting nicer looking as time passes (my film was installed 72 hrs ago now).
Lastly, the film is not as slick as power support crystal film, but it is way slicker than zagg invisible shield film for those that have used those products.
Good luck to all.
