You understood it perfectly, except two minor things:
The Hunter is immune to werewolf attack, but not the vampire attack, while the Vampire Hunter is immune to vampire attack, but not the werewolf attack.
The vampire/Goth scan and the attack is the same "turn", so basically, on the night of the Goth's "activation", there's no killing. However, the next night there will be.
And why not call them both vampires? Because it wouldn't make sense for two vampires to attempt to "activate" each other, eh?

Once "activated", the Goth turns into a vampire. Clearer that way. And actually, there IS a slight difference between the Goth and the vampire - the vampire is immune to werewolf attack even while in the "scanning" stage. The Goth is not immune to werewolf attack until "activated".
