Was waiting at the end when they were talking about iPad apps on Mac to finally announce pro apps on iPad. If they’ve built Xcode etc. for ARM Macs, why no iPad release?

What? Everyone with an Intel Mac product just supposed to suddenly no longer be supported with new OS or app updates? Unlikely.

Imagine the used market for intel-based Macbooks and iMacs! No one will want them! SELL NOW!

Laughs in PowerPC....

There are too many people here dreaming about Intel being supported for years to come.

When Apple does a transition, it's quick. They don't have two minds about it.

Uh, Tim Cook literally said that (Intel being supported for years to come), so it's not a dream, it's a reality. Just because their new hardware will be transitioning to ARM doesn't mean they stop supporting the hardware that uses Intel. In fact, he even said they have new Intel Macs in the works.

Tim literally said the whole transition is expected to take 2 years.

Intel macOS updates for "years to come" could mean 2 years.

If Intel macOS updates were only for 2 years, he would have said that. "Years to come" implies a longer period of time, clearly.

Probably on larger desktop it have more beast capabilities, and need some active cooling on it. But I think for mobile one it should possible fan-less, if taking cue from current iPad Pro.
I expect MacBook Air to be fanless still and MacBook Pros to be air cooled just like they are. The big difference will probably be that the fan only needs to kick in when doing heavy lifting otherwise it's off most of the time (browsing web, checking email, etc).

The definition of years is more than one.

I'm excited about the Apple Silicon transition. I'm still absolutely terrified by it, though.

- Is it going to support Windows?
- Will Bootcamp still exist?
- Will the new Macs have the AMD (or possibly NVIDIA) GPUs on top of Apple's built-in GPUs?
- How good is the emulation? I'm pretty sure there will be hits in performance.
- (Yes yes, I understand that gaming on the Mac is a joke, but I still do it and it works fine for me) How will gaming on Windows in a VM (or Bootcamp, assuming that AMD GPUs will still be supplied in the Apple SoC Macs) work?

These are the questions that have been keeping me up at night for the past little while. I'd rather not be in a position where I'm carrying both a Mac and a Surface Book in my bag at the same time.

Or it implies a shorter period and Tim doesn't want to say it for Osborne reasons.

JESUS!!! Pro app already READY!!!

Whaaaaaat.

mindblown`

Apple's certainly had internal ARM builds of MacOS for their own silicon ever since they started designing their own silicon, I wouldn't be surprised if they also maintained ARM branches of their first party apps too, it may have been pretty much all ready to go when they made the decision to switch from Intel

WWDC never looked and sounded this good..perfect lighting and smooth transitions without audience interruptions from their clapping and sheering.😊

Not sure what "Osborne reasons" are, but I stand by what I said. If he didn't want to say, he could have just said nothing and not deceive people by clearly implying a longer period of time.

The definition of years is more than one.

Oh my goodness. Just never mind....
