Just picked up my new i7 15" MBP w/ standard res glossy screen. No yellow tint. No bad pixels either.
OK everyone that thinks they do not have a tint on the lower third of the screen, do this to check:
look at iTunes or open a Finder window in list view covering the whole window. You will see the interleaved horizontal blue stripes (every other file having a slight blue shade in filename) be darker at the top and almost invisible at the bottom. Adjusting angles may make the bottom ones visible but the top ones change with the angle as well. They are still different in hue, when comparing top to bottom. In other words the tint is there no matter the angle. My wife could not see these. However, I can. I called Apple and they are "looking in to it" and may replace my MBP. But I'm starting to wonder whether I should replace it...because maybe ALL displays have this issue. I'm going to BestBuy tonight to check and if the store unites have this I'm not going to replace, I'm going to hold on and wait for updates to fix my other issues.
I looked at my Gateway FHX2300 23" LCD display which is a nice unit and it too has this issue. It's just as if not more noticeable. Bottom third has a yellow tint. And it's not an LED backlit screen either. So I guess it's...natural? I wish my MacBook hadn't died so I could compare it. I will be looking at other Apple laptop screens today/tomorrow and go from there. If it's natural, well, oh well. If it is not natural I'll get a replacement.
