Lol same here, i'v got ocd and being a total perfectionist rolled in to one makes me one fussy pain in the ass :)

Hey can you do me a favour and download that pic i mocked up on ps above, with the white squares top n bottom fill your screen with it and compare it to the pic i took on my iPhone of mine!? Do you see and agree how washed out the bottom one is on mine!?

I just did it. My wife and I both looked and we can't see any difference top to bottom. We looked at yours and mine is not like that. Hope this helps

I don't see how. At the Apple Store they would have no idea until the box is opened and machine powered up what screen model was in it. I don't believe it says anywhere on the box

Ah well, I hope I get the panel that you have!

Looks like i'll be getting a refund then! Is there no way at all i can get a MBP with a 9CA4 Samsung panel? I'll really miss my macbook if i have to get rid of it :-(

Not that I know of. You could go back to the Apple Store and make your exchange. Then roll the dice and hope for the screen you want. Maybe you will get lucky? Maybe someone else here on the boards could offer a suggestion.

Hope you get a good one, I have the 9CA4 with the yellow tint at the bottom. It's a great screen if you don't have the yellowish stuff.

I don't know what is causing the yellow tinge problem in different panel brands.

I've found the most obvious way to highlight the yellow tint issue I'm seeing is get a high resolution black and white photograph, open and zoom into it in preview and them move the image around (after turning dock hiding on and maximizing the preview window). Any part of the image that gets pulled down in to the bottom 1/3 of my screen becomes very obviously sepia!

Try this one as an example: http://www.shiftedreality.com/tag/black-and-white/

Thanks. I tried it and still mine seems fine. Nothing different in the bottom 1/3 of my screen.

Good to hear... there may be hope for us yet! :)

I hope so too. I was really struggling going with the standard res or hi res screen. I decided after hours in the Apple Store to go with the standard. Had actually thought at one point this week to return this one for a high res. The store only has the anti glare screen which I don't like. But this screen is a good one and I don't want to tempt the fates. So I'm going to stand pat for a change:)

Add another to the yellow tint tally... Just got my 17" i5 Antiglare MBP and it is noticeably yellow / washed out towards the bottom, and especially towards the bottom left corner. Taking mine back tomorrow... It's a BTO machine so I hope I don't have to wait too long for the replacement.

Surely it's only a matter of time before Apple officially acknowledges this issue, no? They are obviously aware of the problem, but have yet to announce what they plan to do about it. It seems to me that they are continuing to ship these defected machines in the hopes that some or most of them will end up in the hands of people with a less discerning eye...

It's good to hear that Apple is replacing them without much fuss, but by most accounts here, it looks like the replacement machines are just as likely to have the same issues. This is what discourages me the most. These replacements should be physically inspected to ensure perfection before they are shipped to their already-frustrated buyers.

Well iv just got back from the apple store with no more MBP!! I said I wasn't going to be happy until they found me one with a decent screen as I had spent £1500 and they got all agy, refused and pretty much forced me to have a refund!! It's not good enough........!!!!

I can confirm a slight yellow tint issue on 15" MacBook Pro running Core i5 and hi-res antiglare display. I have no idea if I can order an exchange (and should I?) considering I bought it from Apple online Store.

Shame on Apple. Had that with iMac, have that on a brand new MBP.

What store did you take it to?

What screen does your i7 have dude? Samsung, Lg-Phillips? Whats the code ie mine is 9ca3 and it's pretty bad but not the worst...

Gana go back to the apple store on tuesday (my day off) and either get a refund and give up as i'm within 14 days! Or ask specifically for a samsung screen preferably the 9ca4!! As by the looks of it these are the better screens!?
How can you tell what screen you have on your MBP?

Yellow Tint...

I got my new 17" MBP i7 Anti Glare screen, complete with the yellow tint. I am NOT a happy person tonight.

It starts from the right hand side of the screen from about 1" towards the middle top of the screen to about half way across the bottom of the screen. It's really noticeable. I played with the color settings and no matter which profile I choose I still had the tint. It was less on the Adobe RGB 1988 setting but I could still see it.

I looked at my 6 year old Power Book and that screen was perfect!!!

I guess I will call Apple Customer Care tomorrow and see what they have to say.

I really resent spending all this money and then having to go through the hassle of dealing with a problem like this.

I have already posted my 9CA4 panel with yellow tinge, it's not the panel model that gives this problem, maybe something in the assembly process or handling.

I don't know if someone have really got a good panel without problems after exchange (in 2010 MBPs), I don't know if i should make an appointment with an apple genius or it will be lost time, maybe i should wait that apple recognizes the problem (if it's going to happen soon).

By the way I've obtained very valuable information of all of us!

Do you have to post the same identical post to three different threads every time you have some news to share?

How can you tell what screen you have on your MBP?

Go in to system preferences, display, color, view profile then it's under one of the bottom lines!! In the 2nd box...
