All those features on the 9.7 but getting content to it via connector is under half as fast and the ram is limited to 2gb

As I recall, when the 12.9" iPP came out, there were some on here who were annoyed that it would slowly drop its battery level even when plugged in when in use with 100% screen brightness and a significant CPU load.

The new USB-C to Lightning cable and 29W power supply should completely eliminate this issue, thanks to the 12.9" support of USB-C voltages.

Never bothered me but faster charging would never be rejected, so I'll be buying the cable (and power supply) when in stock at my local Apple Store.

Let's see:

I paid:

1x IPP LTE: $1079 + tax
1x IPP back cover: $16 (no tax)
1x IPP pencil that drains battery when not in use: $99 + tax
1x IPP AppleCare+ : $99 + tax
1x IPP 2m USB-C/Lightning cable: $35 + tax
1x USB-C 29W Charger: $49 + tax
1x USB 3 Camera Connector: $39 + tax

Damn, I paid way too much!

Should've gotten a surface pro 4 i5/8GB/256GB! /s. The /s about the sp4, however

My BS detector may be faulty, but it was going off pretty hard with this post

I mentioned this in the thread about the 9.7-inch iPad Pro having 2GB RAM. When the 9.7-inch iPP was announced with a better screen (True Tone) and better camera, I felt like a sucker for getting the 12-inch iPP. With the less RAM and underclocked CPU, however, I'm feeling good about the 12-inch iPP. ;)

Take price into consideration too - Staples has a 128GB Pro 12.9" for $799 (until 3/26/16) - $50 more than the 128GB Pro 9.7".

Thanks for the heads up on this. I just bought a 32gb pro over the weekend from Apple. I just upgraded to the 128gb for the same price from staples.

excellent! I couldn't resist the $150 off since it might be a while until we see that price point again.

This is my first non 9.7" iPad and my first non-Cellular iPad as well - hopefully I won't miss the Cellular as it has occasionally come in handy in the past.

Wow. Are people really surprised that the latest Apple version of a product has features that were not included in an earlier version?

if so then do not buy a new one because I guarantee you the next iPad will have something the one just announced doesn't have.

This.

Is this legit? I mean I remember hearing about the extra connector pins on the iPad Pro 12.9", but if this works, you have to let us know!

Well even if you got a sp4, to compare the prices you can drop the back cover, the pencil, the AppleCare, the Lightning cable, the 29w charger and the camera connector from your list. They're all optional purchases and with the exception of maybe the camera connector aren't included with the sp4 either.

As you all saw the announcement with the 9.7 model now having Always on Siri and Live Photos.
Does that mean now the 12.9 cannot do that?!

All those"new" features 9.7" has are not really necessary and not so important for people who choose 12.9" with their right reasons and purpose.
Siri!? I never use it even on my iPhone, it's a big joke Apple made lol
True tone display is something unwanted thing as a digital artists/photographers/designers.
Camera? We don't need panorama and Live Photos or flash, 12.9" is big, no one hold it and take pictures if they have their cell phones, those cell phone has better cameras and flush anyway.
So as ability of taking 4K video, there no reason to take videos on big iPad. And anyway either iPad Pro series don't have ability to watch video on 4K, no???

So, I agree, 12.9" Pro isn't outdated. It has faster processor, more ram, bigger screen. Whatever 9.7" got are not necessary to have for 12.9".

I was really torn but ordered the 9.7. I want to see ifit Meeks like enough of an upgrade from the air 2. I got the keyboard and pencil. If it doesn't however I can't see buying the 13" until it gains parity at least regarding ambient sensors. I would have bought the 13 if the new features of the 9.7 were there.

The Hangul on the 10" is that I don't think the screen is large enough to take advantage of split screen.

I own a surface pro 3 fully loaded. We've had some arguments but I think she finally is bending to my will.

Sketching apps on the surface absolutely sucks, presuming you don't want desktop class software costing a fortune (as do most app choices) but the surface pro 3 has WAY better do,or than the iPad Air 2 and substantially better sound.

If Adobe released a Lightroom that accepted camera raw files is be done with the surface likely.

Palm rejection works well and the pen is relative,y good for ,y photo work, but the machine gets scorching hot or blows air like a turbine engine.

I have swapped the surface four times in three in the due to defects,..,this last one I didn't use much as I went into major surgery after the change, just getting into it now.

I really wish that Adobe would allow real Lightroom on the iPad. Not even photoshop just Lightroom. The processor and ram are fine for it as is the video chip. I have to think they're working on real Lightroom but camera raw..well.

I'm a,so going to do so,e tests with filter storm. If I can get everything working camera to output I'll likely sell the surface and do iPad / desktop only, however I can't sit at a desk now.

Bottom line. Apple made me doubt getting a pro. I got the small to try but I want the bigger one, which I won't buy now, vpif the small doesn't work for me I don't buy a pro because they seriously outdated the big one with the screen tech

For those pooping on the surface. The 4 is apparently a lot bette but as a laptop and part time tablet it works well, desktop apps and basic video email and web surfing apps

For,specialized apps it can't hang.. But I wouldn't be too fast to poop all over it. Likewise I would t say get a surface instead to anyone getting the iPad pro. They're very cry different machines. The fact the surface has no microphone button on the keyboard for voice input and doesn't properly take dictation (Sam sold archaic Windows dictation) that's a major crippler of productivity. I would think the 13" iPad is far easier I'm day to day usage due to voice inout.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I just bought a 32gb pro over the weekend from Apple. I just upgraded to the 128gb for the same price from staples.
Crap. I'm thinking I should have gotten Apple to price match and tried the 13" first. Given the sale is limited. I'm using a 0% financing so I have like two more weeks and have to buy from Apple.

Now I charged the 9.7 even if I cancel I think my credit line would be jacked. I'll have to call and ask. Also Apple only price matches ten percent but they'd price match the accessories to try and make up the difference. That would get it $85 off iPad $17 off keyboard. $9 of pencil. Still on,y $101 not )150.

I'll call Barclays tomorrow because at that price I think I have to try the 13" and see if I prefer it to the 10" form factor

Son of a gun!

Edit

It hasn't charged as it hasn't shipped. I read the policy that any employee can match 10% without authorization. To me that means a manager can choose to match more.

I'm going down tomorrow to try and get them to match flat out. I just don't know if that price on the 13" is beat by the added screen functions of the smaller one. And I may as well try this first as the pride is over in two days.

Might not make too significant a difference in daily use as the 12" iPP probably needs the extra memory and processing power to push more pixels.

Ya'll are missing the really important thing here...

Where's the rose gold 12.9"er?!?!? :(

Seriously though, 'big' Pro owners can't feel disappointed. It's the most 'pro' of the two: more real estate, faster, better I/O, no tragic protruding camera (and frankly the rear camera on the big Pro just shouldn't be there anyway), a Smart Keyboard that isn't "infuriating" (see hands on impressions), and I don't think professionals want the tint of their screen changing as they work.

They're both excellent iPads tailored for their respective - different - target markets.
and lets not forget about the 4gb ram that helps a lot when you are using 2 apps in split view

When I bought my 12.9" iPP, I didn't expect Apple to stop development of their devices and it's perfectly logical for them to include later technology in newer devices: I don't feel that it devalues my machine at all, and don't have a problem with them introducing new cool tech like the True Tone display on a new iPad

As for the camera, I can see why they upped the spec (because an annoyingly large number of people use iPads for taking photos), but I would never use an iPad like that so it doesn't matter to me in the slightest

Ultimately, the 128GB 12.9" iPP I bought is still the most current 128GB 12.9" iPad Apple sell, so how can it possibly be outdated? (and that gorgeous 12.9" screen is the main reason I bought it)
