Why would you even need to plug it in to your Mac?
Oh, like if it craps out and you need to restore it via iTunes.
Why would you even need to plug it in to your Mac?
I don't understand Apple...
They believe in USB-C so much they make it the ONLY port on a MAC PRO machine (not the entry level netbook) yet they refuse to adopt it as the standard in their new iphones.
USB-C only MacBooks have been on the market for 2 years now and I can easily say their users are still running with dongles around... USB-A still dominant...
Just a guess, but I think @jObooW was looking for an actual answer, not incredulity. LOL, indeed.
On topic: the 5 watt chargers should be relegated to the past. There's no excuse to continue putting them with product.
Is there a dongle to plug in an iPad Pro USB-C into my mid 2012 MBP non retina? I can't seem to find one. Maybe that's why they don't roll USB-C out yet for the iPhone. That would be aweful to buy a new device and no way to sync it on the computer. Maybe via wifi?
Yeah like changing the way iphone x can be turned off. That was an amazing change.One of the beautiful things about Apple design, in most cases, is when they make these choices for you. Adding more settings like this just seems like terrible design.
I don't see what's so difficult to understand.It's likely a tiny niche of users who understand charge rates and know when they need to use a faster rate of charge.
And throwing money to buy a true fast charger is not a waste. You're funny.Moving up from 5W to maybe 7.5W or 10W wouldn't be bad. But going into much faster chargers in the box would be a waste. Those who need it likely already have faster means of charging.
Disagree...the vast majority of people likely have no idea how many watts their charger is and charge it night, making it irrelevant.
If you’re a person that wants it, buy a more robust charger. Makes no sense to put a high powered charger in 200M boxes if only a small percentage care.
Apple knows this to be the case or it would be different.
You understand your jumping to conclusions based on a rumour right ? Wait for factual evidence before you get on a hissy fit please. There is enough of that nonsense going on.
Hopefully an empty rumors, but if not...
They brag about being environmentally friendly, but the number of practically useless 5w chargers that are never even taken out of the box (all for the sake of saving a few pennies) is fairly egregious in 2019.
You preferring them for your night stand still isn't an excuse. Liking a slow(er) charge at night still makes little sense. Your phone would still be completely charged before you wake and the iPhone would account for that and stop charging at some point. Just as it would account for it with a faster charger and stop charging... just quicker. It's not like a 5W charger provides a trickle charge.I much prefer the 5w charger for my night stand chargers. I like a slow charger for the night and quick chargers for the day when I actually need it. So I will then pull out the 12w iPad charger for the rare occasion.

nice try, who should houl - if we ALL HERE want usb-c
Even wireless charging is just a gimmick and I hardly know anyone who actually uses it regularly.
The unpopular can stay unpopular. 5W was for when iPhone has 1,400ish mAh.
2G -> 1,400
3G -> 1,150
3GS -> 1,220
4 -> 1,420
4S -> 1,430
5 -> 1,440
5S -> 1,560
5C -> 1,510
SE -> 1,624
6 -> 1,810 ......6+ -> 2,915
6S -> 1,715 ....6S+ -> 2,750
7 -> 1,960 ......7+ -> 2,900
8 -> 1,821 ......8+ -> 2,691
X -> 2,716
XS -> 2,658 ....XS Max -> 3,174
XR -> 2,942
On iOS 12 it definitely is(taking in consideration how many tutorials there are online regarding this setting).auto brightness: off or on. That’s complex?
And, if this rumor turns out to be true, the 2019 iPhones will continue to not sell well... just like the 2018 models.
The people at Apple can’t possibly be THAT stupid.
I agree with you. It would take longer to put an iPhone together than a charger.That makes no sense at all. It's a charger. It's not like it's a critical, hard to source, hard to manufacture component. Fast chargers are a "dime a dozen" from multiple OEM's with volumes commensurate with Apple's. At best that would have been an okay excuse back around the iP7 era. Again, it's a fast charger, not a triple lens-front facing- AI enabled- infra-red-telescopic selfie cam.
Most people charge over night because they know how long it takes to charge with a 5w charger. Give those people the choice of waking up and plugging in their phones to charge while they get dressed and have it above 80% by time they are done; I bet a lot would choose this option.Unpopular opinion: most people are charging devices overnight, and 5W is more than sufficient for these use cases. Also, long term slower charges are better for battery health.
Yeah like changing the way iphone x can be turned off. That was an amazing change.
It's amusing that you actually believe the things you are writing.
I don't see what's so difficult to understand.

I sure hope so. Lightning >USB-C
While it was recently reported that Apple has at least considered switching to USB-C on the iPhone, Japanese blog Mac Otakara believes that 2019 models will stick with the Lightning connector as a cost-saving measure.

Based on its conversations with various accessory manufacturers, the blog also predicts that 2019 iPhones will continue to be bundled with the same old 5W power adapter, forcing customers to spend extra on a faster charger like the 18W USB-C version that ships with the latest iPad Pro models.
Likewise, the blog predicts that 2019 iPhones will continue to ship with a Lightning to USB-A cable and Lightning-based EarPods.

I guess you may be retired and / or don't go out much.Put me in the minority, I don’t care about a fast charger. When I need to charge my phone, I simply plug it in and leave it for an extended amount of time without having to worry about how ‘quickly’ it can charge. If I want to invest my money in a fast charger, I will gladly purchase one, and something for more ‘convenience’, then that would be a wireless charger of some sort for my needs.
Not al all my example perfectly illustrates how your excuses make no sense at all. You premise is simply wrong.That power off function for the newer iPhones is odd. Don’t think that was done well. Amusing though that you’re reaching for such random arguments.
