Theory:
Someone hacked the iPhone 4 to manipulate text on the screen...

But they also had to manipulate the hardware too. Change 32GB to read "XXGB" and replace the volume buttons, etc...

Higher storage makes sense to me. I don't see a major design change for the next version - maybe just some tweaks to the antenna design again....and of course the white version, FINALLY!
About time someone else had an understanding on Apple is Apple and they most likely aren't going to re-design the iPhone entirely again. They most likely are still taking a look at how the market is going with the mobile arena and designing a huge update in 2012. Then again Apple could be Apple and surprise the crap out of everyone. But there doesn't seem to be too much leaning towards the iPhone upgrade other than some hardware changes. Maybe a liquid metal back but still that phone will probably be a sandwich and be the iPhone 4S or something along those lines. The real iPhone 5 will be a big treat I can guarantee.
Plus Apple likes competition but they don't go out of their way because another competitor in the market has a product that is doing very well with consumers vs their iProduct. There have been tablet PC's, touchscreen PC's (Apple has yet to incorporate this feature), all kinds of gizmos for years and Apple develops their products based on what they think will perform to their standards. They have had fails in the past but they don't play cat & mouse games with other companies. They build their products to perform and look good and unique not go along with everything else. They strive to be a step on top, enough said.

Yeah I completely agree, they might give up a feature or two here or there but that's because they want to push the market towards what they think will be the best overall user experience - having fooled around with a lot of devices the efficiency and accuracy of apple's current touch screens is just far superior. They're not going to release something unless it can work to their high standards, not sort of work. It's like when Jobs said something along the lines of "we'll incorporate flash if you show it to us working well on a mobile platform, but you haven't yet" so there's not native support for it. And at this point there doesn't need to be since well over half of the flash video has already been re-encoded into the more efficient (and often higher quality) formats.
- Possibly a ~$200 version
When Gizmodo got it, the iPhone 4 was in a 3GS case remember?
64gb ... is very possible but just too expensive for apple to make a profit. And the pics is just an iPhone 4....
...What I really want is a 4 inch screen....
I'm so glad to know there's people on here with some real common sense. I'm with you and stick to my belief that we won't see a whole lot this year. The Big Bangs of 2011 from Apple: iPad 2, iOS 5, increased storage and hardware on the iPhone and iPod Touch, Apple TV update. About it. And some minor iProduct stuff of course.
They either did that or somehow it's an image. The amount of space that the OS takes up is wrong. On a 32GB iPhone you start with 29.1GB. Why would it be showing 59.1GB as the capacity for a 64GB iPhone with the same build of the OS? Shouldn't it be a start of 61.1GB?
Could this be the plan for Apple's version to a cheaper iPhone 5?
16 and 32 GB now go to 32 and 64 GB. for $199.00 and $299.00
Meanwhile, 16 GB is now the cheaper phone, priced say $99.00... and 8 GB for $49.00...
All from the same update... that is, all new iPhone 5 models.
iPhone 4 gets relegated to $29.00... to give Apple a better chance at staving off the cheapo Android models and BOGOF stuff.
<snip>...Based on the iPad 2, we know that apple is willing to make next design changes in one year....<snip>

I disagree. I think iPhone 5 will have 64GB AND a completely new design, with an aluminum backing just like the iPad.
Apple decided to scrap the 64GB iPhone 4 so they could introduce that storage capacity with the iPhone 5. iPhone 4 was already a big change from the 3GS so no need to also include this. At least that is what I think.
64gb and even 128gb is very possible but just too expensive for apple to make a profit. And the pics is just an iPhone 4... I hope this isnt the next iPhone cuz I would like to see some sort of new design. Based on the iPad 2, we know that apple is willing to make next design changes in one year. What I really want is a 4 inch screen, 64gb, A5, and I'll be happy.
People who do a lot of video? Someone who wants a 64 GB iPod Touch and an iPhone? Useful if they made the iPad camera connection kit work on the iPhone? Lots of uses.Who needs 64gb in an iPhone, seriously?
This shows that at least the backing is a prototype or a knockoff. iPhone 4s don't ship with the amount of storage printed on the back.

umm. cough. thunderbolt. That's a revolutionary interface in case you didn't notice. Especially in the consumer music industry where up and coming engineers are limited with the single firewire port on MBPs.
