This is the deal breaker for me.
LTE and a slightly taller screen wont be enough to upgrade and ditch my many ipod/iphone chargers around the house, a bose sounddock and an iphone alarm clock, various universal docks and computer cables around the house and car chargers and a car fm transmitter.

pity, but i guess i'll eventually have to transition..just not this quickly :(

Another clever fake put out my Apple's misdirection marketing dept.

I can't wait to see all the real things they are going to be launching in a few weeks time to blow us all away ;)

It's be nice if Apple included a dock for the new iPhone because of the new connector. I highly doubt it will ever happen again though.

i cant wait to read this comment a year (few weeks) from now and think to myself "lol ... they must feel so stupid now"

Another photo that may not actually be a photo?

I'm pretty sure the title should read: Photo of Alleged Smaller Dock Connector USB Cable Surfaces, because I don't think whether or not it is a photo the question.

And I'm pretty sure you aren't the first person to notice this grammatical error. It's actually the third time in a week or so that we've seen this mistake.

This happens every time there is a photo of something new.

Pretty much, yes. I saw an adjective that actually modified the correct noun the other day.

I'm not too thrilled with all those exposed contacts. I know the power is negligible and no one is going to get shocked by grabbing them but it seems they'll just gather fingerprint oil, dust, etc., and then deposit it into your new iPhone.

I'd rather have the cord tip get damaged than have to tweezer a handfull of pocket fuzz out of my iPhone's gigantic dock port twice a week.

Will there be an adapter I wonder?

I have a GPS adapter for Harrys Lap Timer that will need one.
As well as '10 Porsche that uses a "Y" cable to attach the phone.

With every other phone out there using micro USB as well as all that Euro political stuff pushing that as standard i don't get why they don't just use that if they're gonna screw all their legacy add ons by switching the dock connecter anyway:mad:

Exactly. This looks to be about the same size as the small USB on all the other phones, why bother with something proprietary?

Is there some advantage for consumers to have it this way? Sure, this ensures that some peripherals will be iOS only, but that's really just an advantage for Apple.

And what's up with the crazy expensive video output adapters? No reason it should cost that much, and just throw those cables in the box.

Hopefully it's a decent size and longer than the current short POS! And doesn't unravel with moderate usage.

With that design, it looks like the dock end would be subject to dirt/debris getting into the connector. It looks much more vulnerable than the current 30 pin version

The advantage is that accessories and docks have so much more available to them than just USB (i.e. serial, video, audio, etc).

Edit: And, you answered your own question... video adapters are only even possible because video is available on that connector, instead of it just being a USB connector.
