Are you saying that the sound at lower volumes is less crisp, more muddy, or are you saying that lower volumes produce less volume that the X or Pixel?

The latter. When tuned to the same volume settings it is noticeably less loud than the X. I have to constantly turn the volume up to hear in settings outside a quiet area.

Having volume issues with mine. It is noticeably harder to hear at lower volume settings than wife’s X and my old pixel.
Is audio coming out of the earpiece? One issue I had with my first XR is that audio would suddenly just stop playing from the speaker in the earpiece. It required me to shut the phone off and restart it to get it back. This is an issue that people with all versions of the X phones have reported.

Sound is coming from the earpiece, it’s just not nearly as much as it was from the X.

Sounds like its defective then. The sound from both of my XRs is awesome.

Could the XR simply be set lower and have more increments of increase? I like the lowest setting to be really low. I’ve had phones that I wished the lowest setting was louder than I like. My XR is barely audible at lowest setting.

Of course, I would think this low volume is a software matter and a X or XR on the same iOS would be more similar than not.

Technobuffalo reviewer claims the XR is full of bugs and problems:

He's full of it. He says iPhone XR has all these bugs, but doesn't really get specific. I laugh when he said he wanted to like this phone and to be honest, but in my opinion he did the opposite. I have yet to have the any bug problem and the only problem I have had is with a game not have the right resolution for the phone.

That could definitely be the case, which I would argue is a huge plus. Clearer audio at lower volumes is very nice.

No hyperbole I think 12.0.1 and Xr has been the smoothest hardware/software combo launch in a very long time. He should try another unit.

Normally hardware is great but there are software specific bugs tied to the hardware that need ironing out.

If you are viewing this webpage, does anyone see like a shadow around the notch? I think it’s my eyes but I’m not sure? Only see it on white backgrounds.
Yes......on an angle...thankfully I'm normal and look at my phone straight on and not and funky angles trying to find issues all over the place. ;)

He mentioned sometimes the screen would not respond to touch. I’ve had this happen on my Xr but also on my 8 Plus and my iPad Mini 4. I’ve also had my Xr display not respond to flipping between landscape and vertical orientation as it should on a couple of apps. I think it’s down to iOS still having a few bugs.

The last couple of days I’ve had my Xr suddenly get very hot in different apps. Apple News App and Camera app were affected so it’s not just buggy third party apps.

My 7 Plus used to do this and start becoming so buggy I traded it in to get my Silver 8 Plus. Neither my Silver 8 Plus (which I no longer have) nor my red 8 Plus get inexplicably hot like this.

Unfortunately I won’t have time to visit the Genius Bar for another couple of months as I’m backed up on getting family members and pets and myself in to doctors appointments and other commitments. I guess that will give me time to see if there’s actually a problem. Sometimes phones have to run hot, after all. I’ll know eventually if I’m running into something abnormal.

I’m also going to switch out of the Ringke case I’ve been using the last few days. I had a Caudabe on it and had no overheating problems in that case.

My feeling is that TechnoBuffalo tries so hard not come across as too pro-iPhone (because clearly they all are in their personal capacities) that, rather than achieving the balance I think they're aiming for, they come across totally anti-iPhone. I'm certainly not saying there aren't things to criticise, but they they often (as you said) don't actually find those things, but just say the phone could be better anyway.

I returned my XR today due to the yellow screen issue (yellowing at the bottom on white and light backgrounds)

I also noticed that a lot of the display models at the Apple Store have imperfections on the rubber border around the screen and back glass. Is this something that anyone else has noticed?

You guys really work on my device hypochondria! ;) I took my XR out of the case to check, but I see no problem with the rubber gasket or whatever it is.

Also, my screen with True Tone on looks warm (which I like because it is easier on my eyes), but when TT is off it is noticeable less warm. It is even, though. I have no issue with my screen.

I’m glad you’ve got a good device! Unfortunately it sucks when some of us are unlucky and get stuck in the iDevice lottery. If these devices weren’t so expensive I wouldn’t be so particular but when you’re paying £799 for something it better be nigh on perfect!

No kidding. It's a lot of money and the product must be right. I've reconciled myself to the reality that the "perfect" screen probably doesn't exist, but they should be consistent throughout the screen. If mine is going to err, I'd rather it be on the warm than cool side, but that's personal to the user.

What kind of imperfection did you see in the rubber gasket. Any issue there would impact the water resistance, wouldn't it.

I noticed a lot of them had very small chips or scrapes or imperfections in the rubber gasket and/or antenna bands which is more apparent on the black model (I noticed this issue in all but one of the black XR models on display). It’s so annoying because the one I returned didn’t have any imperfections only the yellow screen.

Sigh...

I'm sorry to hear that. Mine is a black one but seems good. Didn't Apple shut down some lines of XR production recently? Was there ever any word of the issue?

I haven’t heard of the issue I’m afraid but I’m planning on picking up an XR again in the next couple weeks and hoping I’ll get a good one. I had my 6S for three years and was so pumped for getting a new phone but this has kinda drained the joy of it all :(

My Xr is stuck on the 2.4 GHz band while the 2018 iPad enjoys the 5Ghz band. The phone won’t use the 5Ghz!?
