I don’t know why they didn’t transition to Apple Pencil 2 support. The Pencil 1 is clunky. That said, the Air is encroaching on the 11” iPad Pro in a big way now.
You answered your own question.

The new chassis has a magnetic area on the side with wireless charging for the pencil. The P2 kinda requires it, and the curved (rather than flat) edges of this chassis aren't exactly ideal for that. This makes no sense. Why would a new chassis be required to support the P2?
No USB C, no Face ID.. meh
Not worth serving a very niche market.
what are you talking about?
I guess your comment needs to travel in time and land in 2010 to be as impactful as you’ve hoped while crafting it.
I'll wait for the refurbs to replace my kids mini 4's - at least Apple gave this model all the latest in processor and screen technology so anyone getting this will be happy for 5+ yearsArgh....
The price again!!
I apologize. I should've said that it isn't complicated for me.Sure but it still doesn't uncomplicate matters.
The off-center Home Button looks not very Apple-like. Can't unsee it.
Is the new Air compatible with the Logitech Crayon? That would be great. Where did you read this? Also compatible with the logitech crayon, though, which i prefer. I have two and leave one at work and one at home.
And? That still doesn't support your assertion that a new chassis is required to support the P2. Difference in edges is not a reason.Take a look at the 2018 iPad Pros. Then look at the previous gen iPads (Pro and non-Pro). Do you see a difference in the edges of the devices?
Sounds like executives that actually take their fiscal responsibility seriously. It also makes more sense to allow this device to have a lower cost pencil to keep the total cost down. It’s not a pro device. This shows that Apple executives see the company as a commodity seller - making a penny here, a penny there with old stuff repackaged.

To charge it.This makes no sense. Why would a new chassis be required to support the P2?
That IS the reason. But feel free to disagree. And? That still doesn't support your assertion that a new chassis is required to support the P2. Difference in edges is not a reason.
They will, after 2 iOS version updates. The average person won’t need or notice the difference between 1, 2, or 4 GB of RAM, despite what the self-proclaimed “pro” users claim on here.
What is this "niche market" you are talking about? Are you serious?
I would say, that rather XS MAX is niche phone with its incredible price point, rather than affordably priced SE, that speaks to much larger audience- parents buying phone for their kid, someone just wanting to get some entry lever iOS device, companies buying them in bulk for their office/ field employees, people, that just don't care about backend innovations in 7 and newer phones and just need A PHONE, people not needing huge screen..... Not even mentioning more price sensitive markets, where more affordable iPhone could help grow Apple marketshare.
I know guys, that are working in electronics retail, telecommunications and they are just in awww, how fast those SE flew of the shelves, when they still were available, and people still come in from time to time and asks- is SE2 out yet?
Real reason might just be, that Apple just doesn't want to make affordable, small phones, they want to make big, expensive phones, just because this is their business direction.
This actually makes sense. Thanks. I can actually get behind that explanation. That vague non-answer answer @racerhomie was pushing was useless. The new chassis has a magnetic area on the side with wireless charging for the pencil. The P2 kinda requires it, and the curved (rather than flat) edges of this chassis aren't exactly ideal for that.
Still rocking an iPad mini 2 on iOS 12 here. With 16 GB. It gets crowded, but between allowing podcasts to stream and iOS automatically cleaning rarely-used apps, it works.
Typical Apple fans bitching they go beyond what people were asking for and they bitch, best processor, kept the screen. And added pencil support, now if they had put a A10 in it, put a non laminated screen, and lowered the price to $249 people would still bitch
And? That still doesn't support your assertion that a new chassis is required to support the P2. Difference in edges is not a reason.
