I still think it's M2 only for iMac. I cannot see them launching a new M3. 1. This year. 2. In an iMac. I know what the rumors have been saying. It just doesn't track, historically.
You have a point! First I guess it’s about M3. Now I think it’s iMac Pro and iMac M2 line up. Because for iMac M2 pretty ok silent post in a blog.

Financial markets closed; also the end of the month.

Wise to have this last-moment, unexpected event after hours.

It’s interesting, they could comfortably make a 50% speed boost over the M1, which would be quite impressive for two generations. For me, if there is a doubling in speed I get an itchy trigger finger for the Buy button even if I hadn’t planned an upgrade for quite a few years… so maybe not yet but not too far in the future.

Are we all going to feel like Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin (whatever specific model/spec Mac we want to see announced) only to be let down, and our family member sitting there watching with us getting very mad that we didn't watch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown instead?

Will we finally see a bake-off?

With it being Halloween, will anyone show up in a toasted bunny suit?

And, if it's just base M3 chips being announced, will they really be "scary fast"? Compared to even the M2 Pro? What are we setting as our expectations for the M3 performance that will seem like a big leap forward and qualify as "scary fast"?

And not to force the analogy too far but... should we be prepared for Apple to Lucy our football?

Why not. If the M3 is in short supply, they would want to put it in a low-volume product. So, Apple might offer an "iMac Pro". This would be a very fast, high-end iMac. And they would continue to sell the usual low-end iMac wth either the M1 or M2 chip at a much lower price.

This would also go with the "scary fast" tag-lie. They will offer a scary-fast iMac for much higher price. Apple can do this because the sales volume will be low.

iMac is a very good platform for a very fast Mac because it does not use batteries. When you have AC mains power available then you can really load the machine up and run it hot.

(Yes, I'm guessing. And so is everyone else.)

By the way, I was always surprised that Apple was able to call its computers "Macs", as I thought McDonald's might have secured the trademark for that name when they invented the "Big Mac".

And Apple is owned by the Beatles since about 1968. So apparently Jobs & Woz had a little Samesung in them in 1976 and 1983... while they chomped on those fast food burgers over naming-days lunches. ;)

Just think if they would have preferred Burger King instead. We'd all be looking forward to new Whops. ;)

But the "have it your way song" mostly applies with only a few words swapped to tech terms.

Now bring on that new M3 Whop!
