I'm talking like we've all seen what Apple has been doing for all these years with the accessories that have been included in the prices people paid for the iPhones without Apple adding on to them to account for those accessories specifically.

They doubled base storage on the iPhone. Same price as last year.
They added new camera hardware in the Pro Max. Same price as last year.

Changes in the product and/or accessories don't always affect the price as the budget get redistributed.

Does anyone have spare USB-C chargers? I personally have zero.
I have exactly two.
One is going to recharge my iPad Pro and one ... is going to be sold along with my iPhone 11 Pro. So I will need another one.
I will buy it from Belkin or Anker. Tim Cook wont see my money on a power adapter... I’m so sorry I cannot write here what I really think about that man...

If they made a USB-C variant of those earpods, I'd but five pairs. They've always been my favorite headphones.

Except that storage has increased plenty of times before without something being taken away for it. Storage also goes down in price over time and this point with Apple sticking to lower storage options for longer periods it's even cheaper. So, yes, some thinking would certainly be a good thing to do.
This.
There are $399 phones with 128 Gb storage since a while...

What they should have done is included them as a free optional add on with the purchase of an iPhone, ensuring only those who need them get them.

Manufacturing and shipping 3 boxes instead of 1 is way better for the environment, clearly.
Manufacturing and shipping one smaller box instead of 1 larger box is way better for the environment, clearly.
I have quite a few iPhone chargers and lots of ear phones, never unwrapped, never used. For charging, I use either an Anker 5 port charger, or an Anker combined 7 port hub + 3 port charger. I also have a Motorola charger somewhere...

They've done those things before with newer iPhone models and didn't remove accessories to make up for that.

So when Apple doubles the storage, the cost of storage remained EXACTLY the same? No. That's not how it works. It could be slightly cheaper. It could be slightly more expensive. You then shave off or reinvest in other areas of the product to meet the budget and feature set which results in the target sales and margins that shareholders are looking for.

Likewise, removing an accessory creates room in the budget in which can be used in other areas.

To say including the EarPods with the iPhone 12 would result in the same exact product with the same exact price is highly unlikely. If you don't understand that, I can't help you there.

No, because everyone would have ticked the box to get something for free. $19 reduced price makes sure you buy one if you need one, and you don't get one if you don't need it.

Because they shaved off other areas of the product to make room. Less software engineering? Maybe 1 year less of updates? Less money in marketing budget? Hold off features for next year's iPhone?

Doubling storage doesn't cost exactly the same as last gen. That's impossible. Project managers have to reallocate the budget.

A good amount of supposition and spin on various things to try to make a theory fit.

Lots of suppositions and spin on various things to try to make a theory fit.

And yours isn't? At least what I'm saying comes from years of experience of developing projects. If you put more in one area, then you take away less from another area to make the budget work. It's not hard.

Sounds like you're trolling. Going to end it here with you. See ya.

I'm basing it on years of what has already happened with iPhones. No theories or spin there.

That said, it seems that things have moved on to ad hominem arguments, which unfortunately just essentially underscores that there isn't much to what was being presented after all.

Lots of people nowadays have chargers built into their power outlets.
And many more don't. And even for those that do, those charges will definitely be useful with the changed USB-C cable that can't be plugged into those outlets.

They also launched a new version of the BeatsX at a much lower price point. I had the BeatsX and they're way better than EarPods for music, unless you can't wear in-ear comfortably.
I don't think they expect to sell a lot of EarPods, and they cut the price to make them more affordable.

Do you get paid for this? Defending Apple till your last breath? I think you did enough for today. Go get some rest. Give it a break.

It's fun to respond to stupid, completely erroneous comments.

Sure, I'll give it a break, at least from this conversation with you. Have a good one. 👋

If everyone has a pile of cables and chargers and is so environmental, can you please send me these for a symbolic 1c?
Since obviously supply is so gigantic and demand is hardly none, so if this is true then basic economy rights would make this product (charger/headphones) incredibly cheap to the point of having no cost (because I'm basically paying to utilise your electronic junk). Any offers? Oh wait, won't sending this from e.g. US to UK produce some kind of environmental cost? It's only I who will have to bear financially the cost of execution of this shipment.

Lol why? The price of storage goes down EVERY YEAR.
Not exactly... those prices are subjected to fluctuations, but are quite stable over the time.
by the way he is trying to shift the focus from the main point: Apple didn’t have any reason to take out the power brick from iphone box if not for being greedy.

So you know how apple could have saved face on this? they could have said if you buy a device and still want either of these items every serial number can go to this website and "claim" a charge brick and EarPods.... then they give the customer what they want and still potentially reduce waist and save some money, I myself would not order them as I have AirPods and I have USB ports in all my outlets in my house.
Exactly this.

Next year Apple will ship empty iPhone boxes, because according to market research, many people already have an iPhone. So it is better for the environment.

And I only have 1 UBS-C charger which is in use by my Macbook Pro.

What are you talking about? USB-C chargers can be used for many devices. New iPads. New AirPods studio. Apple Watch has a magnetic charger to USB-C. New MagSafe/MagSafe duo uses USB-C.

People buying USB-C chargers have multiple uses for them as opposed to 5W USB-A chargers that barely provides any power.

USB-C is literally more environmentally friendly than including USB-A if you consider the many devices a user will use in their lifetime.

None of the plugs in my house, be they for iPads or iPhones have a USB-C port. They have a USB-A port. Now I have to buy a new USB-C plug when I upgrade or buy a new device? How’s that environmentally friendly?

Apple could offer to swap these old USB-A plugs out with new USB-C ones and then recycle the old ones FOC, or even for a small fee when you buy a new device. That would be more acceptable in my opinion.
