I got it when it was $29, and from a frequent golfer, trust me, its worth $49. I can't believe it is on sale today for 99 cents. The app is money!

I think they may have changed their mind and have blocked any further downloads for today; it's in a perpetual "app is updating" mode and blocks the download. Hmmmm

Differential updates are dangerous. They give hackers an idea where a vulnerability is and create exploits before everyone is updated.

You can do the same thing with a 300MB update by comparing both versions as you can with a 3MB diff update. Apple doesn't stick the binary in a blender and scramble it.

Microsoft does differential updates, and they are aware of the risk. It's unavoidable.

Well....... I keep reading different messages about some people losing their MMS and tethering and some people still having it....

I have both tethering and MMS working on my 16GB 3G....

I'm going to install the update and see what happens.. I'll post my results after the update....

Yup... my MMS and tethering are still working!!!! YESSSS!!!!!

I agree. That's not a reason at all.
Mac OS X updates are also differential updates.
Android can even do OTA differential update.
The iPhone OS are getting bigger now; they should change to differential update soon.

YAY ! OS 3.0.1 for my non-hacked iPhone 3GS.

HAHA take that! Jailbraker loosers. I pay for my apps.

I'm updating now. I'll try to find out if I can still jailbreak soon.

Bad idea, don't update. The sms virus is a lie never happened to me. It's a complete waste of time.
There's no jailbroken 3.0.1 yet & probably wont be one anytime soon.

Pika's first paragraph from his profile:

Hi, I'm Flyzor - arguably insane and wholly incredible. Whatever you were looking for, you’ve found it. Welcome to my profile that is so large because I like to express myself and be understood, and because there’s just so much to me (this profile doesn’t even begin to do me justice) - if you think its too long, then you are obviously overlooking how fascinating I am.

Just thought I'd add installed iPhone 3GS Black 16GB no problems at all :) Download took forever but installed pretty quick!

who rated this negative? lol.. its not exactly bad news, unless you think that they should of released this a month ago, when the cyber-guy notified them (not that i necessarily want to take his word for it neither lol!!) It can only be good news that Apple patched this!

Also why would this update be 290megs i mean, i dont have a problem with it, it downloads in itunes, n does itself, just wondering why it it would be so large, compared to an update of OSX (between 500-750meg which is understandable thats an entire OS) iPhone OS is a stripped down thing no?

Is this a serious comment? Please say no.

It "never happened to you" because the details about the security hole were just released yesterday.

WOW, you must be very young to say something so immature. Sad almost.

As an iPhone app developer, i'm simply happy that Apple take actions against all this iPhone jailbreaking. :D

This is good news for me... maybe not for you.

Would it have killed Apple and AT&T to give us MMS with this?

Would it kill people to realise that the version of iPhone OS you're using has nothing to do with lack of MMS support? A software update won't enable MMS for AT&T users, most of the world has been using MMS since 3.0 hit, and their carriers pushed the required settings to the iPhone upon activation.

Waiting on Apple to activate MMS via a software update won't work for you I'm afraid.

AT&T customers asking for MMS in this update - I would have thought seeing as I've been MMSing on O2-UK since the first day the 3GS came out that this fault has nothing to do with the software? and just out of interest what is the deal with AT&T customers not being able to do this, I've never thought to look it up

Not all JB people steal apps. Many, many people that are part of the modmyi community flame and kick people that talk about stealing apps. I pay for all my apps, I jb purely for the themes.

And if you remember the exploit a long time ago with the visiting a website could take control, the JBers were the first that had the fix.

well, jailbreak? my life is busy. I don't have time to take care of it. even I am busy to use my phone. what's wrong without jalibreaking? I don't care. my phone is just fine. oh, thank you for 3.0.1 update.

If you were a true developer you would admire all the amazing apps they've made within the JB community. You're an amateur.

sorry to ask this, not sure if it has been replied.

I'm running 3.1 b3, I suppose the fix will be released with b4?

thanks
