I think this ad would be much better much shorter. Too many exploding light bulbs, too many quick cuts. Also, when it comes to ideas, a lighting-up light bulb, not an exploding one, is the usual representation. So I think they sort of mixed up the metaphor there.

1. Way too long - I'm old and my attention span is only maybe 30 seconds
2. Too much info to process
3. Touchbar does what? Move your finger for picture of lightblub?

Just show the touchbar in action where it really matters, even if it is against Apple design ideas for simplicity.

...But you can scrub trough a video by sliding your finger on the touch pad already... as well as on products with touch screens like the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and uh... the MS Surface.

I'm simply not sold on adding a tiny touch screen over and above a touch pad and non-touch screen. why not just make the large screen touch enabled and forget the tiny strip of a screen?! and if you need to angle the screen so that it is ergonomic and comfortable to reach for, figure something out.

This ad is really cool! Apple have been making excellent and more cinematic ads lately it's awesome!

And so unlike Apple's previous ads it really doesn't show all the things it can do. What's next, Apple? Sharks with lasers? Giant robots? Bleh.

"People won't be able to see this ad and think anything but 'MacBook Pro with Touch Bar'."

And lots of broken light bulbs......

I wonder what some people are doing on this site... whining for the sake of it? This ad is fantastic and captures the essence of Apple.

Dongles will eventually go away, and in the process Apple will have pushed the tech world forward as usual, at 3x speed, towards an incredibly better technology.

And the move will be seen as a "natural, inevitable evolution" two years from now. Just sad.

Yup... People love to whine. It provides a (false) sense of feel-good power. Like they're sticking it to the Man.

Apple has always been about pushing the future forward, faster. As night follows day, other manufacturers will follow in Apple's footsteps within the year. USB C ports and no doubt a touch bar of some sort.

The people that demand/whine that their new modern computer be well-accessorized with USB A ports are the same who cried up a storm when the SCSI port was canned, along with the rotary phone going away.

Can't be bothered using a $4 adapter to get through the USB A to USB C transition hump? No worries. Asus, Sanyo, Lenovo, etc have a laptop for you. Just buy one and find happiness. Much better than embarrassing yourself letting the world know you'd feel more comfy clinging to the past with USB A connectors and rotary phones.

I'm guessing the lightbulb represents an idea and they are exploding in a domino effect meaning forward toward progress?
Well I've ordered the new MacBook Pro and I'm looking forward to it, but somehow i can't link the ad to MacBook Pro.
Apple ads used to show real usage scenarios.

I find the video to be rather silly, even obnoxious. But I was intrigued by the location. It appears the video was shot in the small town of Piru, California, which has a population of about 2,000 people.

This story from June 3 of this year says the town's elementary school is receivingabout $500,000 in aid from Apple — including free iPads for all of the students, and MacBook Airs (not the Pro model!) for teachers and staff.

To be fair, the tagline does say "a tool for all the ideas to come" instead of actually claiming that the Touch Bar is one of the greats. But agreed that this seems a lot of flash and bang for refreshing just one of their FOUR Mac lines.

Dude, you can't even plug any of your Apple devices into your new laptop out of the box ... devices that have come out within months of each other. People are "whining" for legitimate reasons. Your examples are also terrible and your comment about 4 dollar dongles is not based in reality. Maybe put down the kool-aid for a little while.

$4 tiny inline highly rated USB C to USB A adapters are certainly available. If that's too much of a burden for you there are plenty of other brand new laptops resplendent with USB A ports from other manufacturers to keep you happy.

Are you capable of objectivity, or is this condescending tone all you're capable of? You're not fooling anybody.
