Its good to know that whenever I'm down or feeling sorry for myself there's always at least two things I can do to feel better.

1. I can read my feedback on eBay where there are over 500 people that have good things to say about me.

2. I can bookmark stories like this of losers that would wait in-line for days for a product they could get within 24 hours anyway, but somehow decide to wait in the cold for three days in-advance instead, and feel good knowing I will never be that pathetic, desperate or stupid.

I agree with what you are saying, these people are pathetic.

I can divide

When I was an intern (in the not-so-distant past), we were required to work 120-130 hrs/weekly for pennies on the dollar.

Thankfully, this is my research year and I'm getting paid to play around on the computer all day.

By this time next week, I'll have my iPad 2 to mess around on!

My iPod Touch has a calculator app, so I was able to divide 120 by 7, getting 17.1.

You're saying you worked 17 hours and 8 minutes a day, seven days a week? If you arrived at work at 6 A.M., you'd leave at 8 minutes after 11 P.M.? Every day? And some weeks you worked an extra 10 hours? That's more than another hour each day? 6 A.M to 12 midnight seven days a week?

LMAO!!!! Best post in the thread.

Me and my girlfriend are number 29 & 30 in line at the Woodland Hills Mall Apple Store. We've been here since around 11. There are well over 500 people in line now. I actually can't see the end of the line anymore.

Once ipad 2s are everywhere, people will stop paying 300+ for used original ipads bc they will know theyre outdated. :D watch out ebay!

Instant Karma

How silly. Waiting in line when you can have it in a week or two, delivered right to your door.

I agree. We agree with each other. That's why neither of us ever uses e-mail or posts on message boards. We use the United States Post Office first class mail system. Our communications arrive in a week or so, delivered right to our doors. We are superior.

My local Apple store (Arden Fair Mall, CA) already has a line of 75+

Called my local Target and found out they have 5 iPads, all 64GB black WiFi...exactly the model I'm looking for. They offered to hold it for me, so I'll be able to get it right at 5 without waiting in line!

My local target won't tell me what they have.
But as time went by of me waiting in line. They leaked that they have a couple 16gb white models.

Just the one I was looking for!!!

Really? This many people on an incremental update? I'll pass.

Oh, yeah, as an update. But a bunch of these people would have not bought an original, instead wait for the first hardware update -- but promising themselves they'd definitely get the second edition. So they're stoked they'll finally get one, and they'll line up for it to make sure they get one today, because they don't already have any kind of iPad to use, play with, etc.

I gotta drop this in, sort of off topic. I wasn't going to buy GarageBand iPad, but for five bucks, I figured what they heck. So I did this morning. If you have any interest in creating music, even just as pure recreation using a lot of automated assists, you'll love it. Almost surely make an excellent scratchpad for professional songwriters, too.

Surgical interns at my institution take call Q3, often working 36-40 hr shifts straight.

I have yet to meet a resident (at a reputable program) who works less than 80 hrs a week regardless of the specialty.

I know of at least 4 in line right now - their 3rd time...

(In line for iPad 1, again for iPad 1 w/3G, now this)

Apple knows this - hence they will be in line again in Sept. for the iPad 2.5... ;)

It worked!

Excellent. I see our little ploy worked. We set up this forum to attract all of the snobs with the "applefanboisarelosersharhar" comments. Now us cool kids can go over to the secret forum and discuss our hopes and dreams for the new iPad without interference by weingsnobs.

props to the lady who sold her spot for $900.

the person who spent $900 for the spot, especially for a gen 2 device - what an idiot!

In line at the Mall of America. Line is now about 3-4 times as long as in the pic. They are squeezing the barriers together to create more space.

Meatpacking NYC store. Huge line! Runs from 9th ave and 14th street. Down to 10th ave up to almost 17th street. Prob 1000 people. I'm near del posto

So you like to look down your nose at other people in order to make yourself feel better?

People can do what the hell they want to with their life, their time and their money, and it doesn't make them pathetic, desperate or stupid. I'm in the UK and probably won't be getting an iPad 2 (my iPad 1 is fine for now), but I still enjoy reading stories about people enjoying life in whatever way they want to.

If someone wants to spend time in line to get an iPad, then good luck to them

If someone has the means to pay for it, wants an iPad 2 to replace their iPad 1 and gets excited about it, then good luck to them

If (for example) Apple sells 500,000 iPads today then that's 500,000 people who will go home tonight with a smile on their face and that should be something worth celebrating!

Any word on lines in the bay area?
I am guessing they are bad....
I was hoping to get one here in Walnut Creek, CA, but I have a feeling lines will be 100s long here...

Is everyone just ignoring the 24-hour shift limit? Or are there exceptions? Or is it state-specific? I thought the law limiting residents' shifts to 24 straight was passed at the federal level. Maybe it never passed.

Of course, it is surg, not medicine. You guys are all cowboys, anyway. ;-)

And just to keep this on topic, those are MONSTER lines. I really do bet it's a lot of people who are buying their first iPad.

As for paying $900 for the first spot in line, I wouldn't do it. But people do all kinds of crazy things to be first to do or own something. Forking over $900 would be on the low side of crazy in these endeavors.

100% agree, but then again what would all those waiting on the Xoom do with their time? Those poor people don't even have a real tablet to enjoy so clearly following the company they hate makes them feel a little happiness. :) Deep down they really want an iPad 2 but the peer pressure from their Android buddies is just to much to take. They have to put up a good show so if they secretly buy one they can deny it and pull up their hatred posts to prove a point!
