In addition it should sync actual text messages not just iMessages as well as syncing notification on ios and osx, making things more convenient for users.

I can understand the convenience, but then people would complain when they are unable to reply to a 'text message' on their Mac/iPad, thus making the whole sync thing a waste of time.

I'm looking forward to iTunes 11 - isn't this supposed to be a completely revamped versions? Lighter etc?

Oh I love the idea of Facebook and Apple having my phone number to associate with all my online activities, tracking everywhere I go, everything I look at, and all sharing it together! What a wonderful world they're creating for us to live in.

Well what I meant was that the reply could be sent to iColud servers then pushed to the iPhone and sent in the way of a traditional SMS. Imagine this use case scenario of having your laptop watching tv or at your desk at work, but your phone is in your room on charge upstairs or in your bag or locker then you could manage your conversations and other activity from your computer and vice-versa.

Is there a easy way to delete all this "Facebook" nonsense? And why would I want my telephone connected to my computer?

Is Apple jumping the shark?

Just don't login to Facebook in Settings in iOS.

It's about unification of messages. I like it, in fact, it's useful to me.

Just don't use it. Don't sign in to Facebook. You don't have to have your 'telephone' connected to your computer if you don't want to. It's your choice.

I think this could be some thing similar to WeChat application from Tencent heavily used in China. Its a phone app which also allows you to do chatting via web browser. Since the chatting is taking place through their servers, the moment there is any incoming or outgoing message they are both being synced at the same time. Works beautifully.

To connect to the web chat, they give you qr code which needs to be scanned from the phone app then get it connected. They advise your phone to be connected to wifi routers to avoid unnecessary data charges since the messages are synced simultaneously.

I can honestly say that I have never preceived a need for this. In fact, I can't imagine under what circumstances anyone would need to use it.

Example: When I open an email attachment in ML, it is opened as if it is a new unsaved doc. Pre-Lion, if I made changes and saved it, it would be saved somewhere in the email-attachment cache in your Library... good luck finding it back. Now it just says: "Hey, this doc is new, please tell me where to put it..."

Nothing to do with the New Document Model.

The biggest pre is the versioning system behind it! Saved me a couple of times already!

Being able to turn versions off so you can finally do corporate work safely without worrying about disclosable drafts existing somewhere (without having to vape the entire OS every night) is the one change that still needs to be made.

is anyone actually using Game Center? i dont think i opened it since it was first released lol its just another Ping to me. i wish it would save and sync game scores like open feint does.

and i still dont see the point of getting iMessages on all devices. it would be a different story and actually useful if the nots would go away on your other devices once u read and responded from one. i dont see the advantage of having my iPhone & iPad idsplaying 100+ "missed" nots, which i already read on my mac for example. for now i set up each device with a different apple id for iMessages

dont sign in?

and what does fb integration have to do with "connecting your phone to the computer" exactly?

Can anyone with a dev account verify how sending Passes from Mail/Safari in OS X to Passbook in iOS works, please?

Wow! They FINALLY brought back proper save as. And according to other reports the battery life issue has finally been solved. This is exactly why I usually wait until the 0.2 release to upgrade my OS.

I'll admit to being rather impressed by this update. Looking to get a macbook air. In the future and glad I can look forward to or at least not dread ML.

On a side note does anyone know how intrusive the Facebook and twitter stuff is in the new os? Is it easy to ignore? As long as I don't have to deal with it I don't care if it is there for others.

Make social media an option!

Believe it or not, there are a LOT of users out here who don't use social media at all. In stead of using up my computing power to tell the world that I bought a new type of ass-wipe, I think all the social media "stuff" should have a switch so it can be turned off.

Rich

Just dont turn it on then..

When I read a message on my Mac, the notification disappears off my iPhone.

it's optional. stop the crap or at least inform yourself like any decent, average, rational human.

Lol, the government has been doing this to you for decades now. Simple solutions: don't turn on the Facebook option, don't connect your phone number to your Mac, download the collusion extension for Safari. That takes care of at least some of it.
