Interesting bit about Sidecar in the RN:

If you update to iPadOS 13.1 beta 2, you will be unable to use Sidecar until a future version of macOS Catalina beta is released. (54903543)
Bummer, that is a key feature I am interested in. I was using iPad OS 13 on a Ipad Mini 4, it was pretty good. 13.1 was so screwy i put it back to 12.4.1. not messing with 13 for a while again.

10 betas and Mail and iCloud Drive are still a huge toxic hellstew of bugs

I have noticed when using the Radio function in Apple Music, it will play 2 songs or so, then go and repeat those same 2 songs over and over. This has happened in 3 different vehicles with multiple pre-set stations (Hard Rock, Classic Rock, etc). Anyone else seen this too?
I've had this exact issue ever since I've had Apple Music. I don't think it's a beta issue, I believe it's an Apple Music issue.

Not seeing PB here in Switzerland, yet.

If you don't see it software update area, try rebooting your phone to force a check with the server. I found it was out by accident that way. LOL

Is there any harm to staying on iOS 13 public beta 7 until the official release? I don’t want to update to 13.1 on my current Xs max, then the new iPhones ship with 13.0 and not be able to use my backup.

How is CarPlay working in iOS 13.1b2? I updated to b1 and it totally made CarPlay unusable about the time Acura FINALLY released a fix for the other issues their infotainment was having. I'd love to start being able to use it again.
PB1 seemed to work fine on our 2019 CRV. Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Music all worked fine in the ways we used them on two three-hour trips.

No harm at all. We shall see what Apple releases next week after their 10 Sep event. If we cannot get iOS 13 GM OTA then, we can safely remove the beta profile and wait for the general public version to be released shortly afterwards.

It's not the end of the world you set up the new phone as "new" then install the 13.1 PB then reset the phone. Now you have a brand new phone on 13.1 to restore backup to.

Can someone kindly share the build number for this release? My phone says there are no updates available (XS Max on dev beta channel).

Thanks

Hmm, thanks for the info. I also use the Radio feature on my Apple TVs and haven't seen it happen there, so assumed it might be related to the iOS beta on my phone. Now that I have 13.1 B2, I'll see if it recurs on my phone.

Why would you expect that? 13.0 was awful, it's like they gave up and jumped to 13.1 instead. 13.0.x was never going to be a viable release from what I could see. I would expect a .1 release to be an improvement over .0, not a step back.

A beta 8 means it's gone through 8 iterations of bug fixes.
A beta 1 means it's a lot of super fresh code, hot off the presses, and likely full of undiscovered bugs.

Coming out of the same development house for the same product, barring weird extenuating circumstances (and hence a major exception), I would fully expect a beta 8 to be far more stable than beta 1 of a newer code base.

13.0b8 is quite stable.
13.1 is not a statement of 'we give up on 13.0 ... 'let's change the number, that'll fix things'; that doesn't make any sense.
13.1 seems to be Apple's attempt to put features back in that are being left out of 13.0.

Anyone know if FaceTime Attention is back? Had it in one of the first PB's but then it disappeared. I haven't been able to hunt down anything about it.

So are there really not going to be any more 13.0 betas? I don't want to run 13.1 on my iPad Pro because it will probably cause issues with upgrading to 13.0 release next week. Well, next week assuming they've somehow magically fixed the numerous bugs. Wouldn't doubt some poor software engineers are under 100hr week crunches right now. Probably time to move away from 12 month major upgrade cycles. I think it should be a 24 month cycle for major upgrades, and they could do a big feature rollout at the halfway point (so it's still WWDC) where it doesn't change the system foundation fundamentally but adds some new features both on-device and in the cloud. Like building a new photos app wouldn't require developers to need to change anything or change the fundamental way the system handles things. But it's when you've got that and a new mail and new external file system support and a new share sheet and all the under the hood changes and everything else all at once—I just don't know how sustainable that is moving forward. They really need to move to tick-tock.

One of my reported bugs on the iPad dock is fixed....Files previews with a long-press where displayed behind the dock are now properly displayed in front of dock and fully visible. Also, all long-presses on the iPad dock now work fluently without the icon fully or momentarily disappearing.
is it a normal behavior for the preview to appear behind the dock icon? It looks weird when other dock previews appear above the icon.

Seemingly just fine. Took a couple of short drives at lunch, all functions working as they should. I was having an issue with maps not staying in direction of travel in the dashboard (it's supposed to mimic the phone settings), that is working now.

Also, I may have never noticed and it likely has been there all along, but missed calls are red in CarPlay

Hi there, thanks for checking, you also have a 2019 rdx w 1.1.4 firmware and ios13.1 b2? I was one of the people who constantly had a frozen screen w b1 in my rdx and had to downgrade back to 13.0 when it was still in public beta. If this is fixed then that’s great! Will install tonight if you can confirm this. Thanks much!

One thing that hasn't worked in all of the betas, and I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the following ..

Earlier I could disable all sounds for messages and set custom sounds for the contacts I still wanted a audible notification for, and it worked fine. Now when I disable sounds for messages, it just disables them everywhere irrespective of your custom notification settings for a contact.

I was under the impression that its' just the beta, and they'll put it back at some point. But now seeing it amiss from the 13.1, is just sad. There's now no way to have audible notifications for only a few select contacts, while disabling it for everyone else - all the other messengers I use have it - WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.
