Came here for this.Just in case anyone needs it spelled out for them…
Even though I think the callback is fun, I don’t really think the metaphor works in the same way. This thing isn’t reinventing glasses or helmets, it’s not glasses and it’s not a helmet in the same way the iPhone was a phone.
Still, as an Apple fan I think its a fun ad
Yeah well that's just standard. That approval is typically a formality.See the disclaimer at the very end? May not be sold until approval from fcc
How much is there that can be demoed and displayed on a 2-D static screen? It seems to mainly run MacOS, so a demo of it would mainly be MacOS (and Apps that run on MacOS), but with a different user interface that can only be experienced. I'm not sure a video of a demo would be very compelling in any case since it would not convey the user interface feeling. They didn't show what it can actually do at all outside of displaying the app icons. Much like the lack of event, I am finding this concerning.
And the original announcement didn't really demo much in terms of use either.
The media controlling people's understanding of the world was bad then as well. Technology is just making it worse. First by getting us to watch an alternative reality on screens we carry everywhere... and now to replace our vision entirely.Doooooooommmmmmmmeeeddd
$3500... I'm really worried this thing is gonna get Chromecasted.
One of these "also decent" headsets that's 70% as nice and 70% cheaper might eat its lunch before Apple can get the price out of the stratosphere.
To this day, my wife has never seen the value of an Apple Watch, but she's a huge iPhone/iPad/iMac user. This could be that, but even more so.
Rich won’t buy it. People living from paycheck to paycheck will probably buy it for the hyped.its sad, but well

Personally I think we need to snap ourselves out of this zombified state and get back to enjoying the world around us. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved Apple and Technology. I don't think this is some grand conspiracy or anything, it's just how things have worked out. But it really is getting unhealthy now and we need decide if going further down this road is a good idea.
Then you can get ready while apple gets ready. 😜No, Apple. YOU get ready since you’re nowhere near ready to release this thing outside the US where I reside
The only one who’s not going to be ready when the time comes in my wallet 😭Then you can get ready while apple gets ready. 😜
The Apple Watch is the best selling wearable in the world by alot. It’s a huge seller. I don’t think the Vision Pro will be close to that because it’s not meant to be an everyone device. If it succeeds at all it’s meant to be more like a Mac Pro … a device for people with certain extreme needs.$3500... I'm really worried this thing is gonna get Chromecasted.

One thing I hope is that the Vision Pro signals that eventually Apple has bigger plans for iPadOS including multi user support, more powerful programs and options to expand the power of the Vision Pro given that price point. I can dream. While I agree, macOS or iPadOS versions of CAD software is a tad, well lacking.
I'm not sure I agree with this. All AR headsets aim to take the user away from reality and into a VR world. That is the core essence of such technology. The concept of "mixed-AR" is a softer way to push the product to market without making Apple seem so controlling, however make no mistake; look at the products they are releasing with it. Apple are very much looking to integrate Vision Pro into every day life.I agree with everything you have said, however there is also an argument that you can more personal relationships, or even a more 'real' relationship with someone across the other side of the globe. When something becomes 3 dimensional, it becomes more real. And those reactions are more real. I believe Vision Pro is aiming for this rather than just 'gaming' goggles.
I agree. It’s just one step further away from how disconnected we are in society. I find it abhorrent how some parents in my son’s school have gifted them iPhones at the age of 6.You could replaced the VP with cell phones and you would have the same image ...
I’m a town planner, and can imagine a use case whereby a Council might don these during a site visit, to visualise how a proposal would look. Steve’s presentation for Apple Park might look different in the future. I am sure he would be excited by the possibilities.
I would personally never give such a product to a child. What’s wrong with Lego or even pen and paper? You don’t need to disconnect yourself from others and you remain connected to reality and those in the room. And I collaborated with several others in a multiplayer VR voxel-based sculpting app to make a huge scene filled with details (the video only shows a small fraction). It's a bit crude, and the walkthrough doesn't give enough time for the detail to fully load in but its a bunch more fun than the AI crap you are posting here.
You can talk to others with spatialized sound, and see their head and hands. You can scale yourself so you are a different size than other people. You can climb and jump and use a hang glider to explore the scene. I'd love to see what a bunch of imaginative kids could create.
Surprised they didn't use a clip from Ready Player One considering the last shot in the ad looks totally like the one from the movie.
