Kicking myself for not buying the last (new) 6s Plus in August.

I'll buy a new iPhone when Apple sells one that is worth buying. Until then, my 6 Plus does everything that I need. Force touch? Who cares. Never had, don't need it. Better camera? Meh... I have a Nikon D850 and that's what I use for real photography, short of that, the 6 Plus camera is more than enough for social media crapola.

Apple needs to work a lot harder to earn my business in today's competitive climate where Google and Microsoft are out-innovating Apple at every turn. The Mac Pro is going on 6 years old now. That's absolutely, utterly embarrassing. For a company with so much money in the bank making so much money hand over fist, Apple can't even bother keeping its single vanity product up-to-date? Apple used to hold up the Mac Pro as a shining example of being first to market with certain technologies.

Remember when Apple was the first to market with a 17" laptop? Remember when Apple used to update the CPUs in its desktops every year to stay competitive with PC makers? Remember when Apple was the first to launch a 30" display? Remember when Apple took risks?

Today's Apple is boring, uninteresting, cowardly, and utterly incapable of innovating.

It probably has more to do with Apple being stuck on the Stock Market quarterly merry-go-round (like Baymowe335 stated). They gotta sell them widgets to meet their numbers. It just seems cheap since historically Apple hasn't taken the used car salesman approach to advertising. But thats were we find ourselves and it will probably only get worse.

They should just admit they are closer to Ford than Ferrari in all reality. Take the hit lower prices and get as many units possible out the door for their services.

From what I can see right now they will have a rough time if they don’t address their pricing issue before next phones launch.

Apple should realize that the success of the iPhone was in-part related to its original form factor. Bigger is not always better, and it’s apparent that the people are letting Apple know that.
The iPhone 5se was actually the iPhone with the lowest sales.

We've finally arrived. Smart phones have seemingly hit the saturation point for the North America and European markets. The 2018 phones simply don't provide enough of a key differentiation or value proposition to warrant exceedingly higher costs over previous models. Consumers have a right to be weary.

I blame the bean counter in charge. So many iterative upgrades since SJ's passing, that haven't added unique or in-demand features. TC and co. will need to more strongly innovate the 2019 iPhone lineup to motivate consumers.

I would so fire Tim Cook over this if I had the power. Pestering customers with junk mail to force products down their throats. Not sure what is worse, not selling the XR as initially predicted or this...

They should hire Ballmer to do some ads for Apple in the style of his old windows for $99 style.

One thing is for sure, you can bet the 5s and 6 lineup at a minimum will be dropped from the next iOS release. If they can’t sell phones because people need them, they’ll force it with software obsolescence.

Why is only a shortfall in upgrades pushing Apple to marketing? This should have already been a thing.

Also, are all these phones people trade in to Apple going to end up in emerging markets?

Nice bait. I'm sure all those music producers, video editors, and photographers don't do any "real work" on their Fisher Price computer.

You remind me of a work colleague I have who gloats about what a "real PC" is, yet they just use theirs for sitting on their backside playing PC games.

If people genuinely, genuinely can't see any benefits of a Mac over a PC (and vice versa, as the same goes for Apple fanboys), they're honestly not qualified to give an opinion on either.
But you took the bait.:( Should have ignored. That was an obvious attempt at rolling T.

Such a shame they omitted 3D Touch. Once you are accustomed to it, you can’t go without.

I would buy the Xr today if it had it. Oh well.

Eh, I could take or leave 3D Touch, personally. It's just one of those things about the iPhone UI that never seemed fully baked. Out of the 200 or so apps on my phone (only about 5 or 6 of those are games), I'd venture a guess that only 10-20% of the apps support 3D Touch. When 3D Touch was first launched, I waited with anticipation to see if more apps were going to be updated to support it. Some apps were updated to support it -- for a little while; but then I think developers ended up focusing on more critical things such as bug fixes and screen compatibility for newer devices and 3D Touch was basically forgotten about from a development perspective.

To me, 3D Touch suffered the same fate as Siri from an end-user perspective in the sense that you're all excited to try it when it first launches; but then when you try it and it doesn't work at all or it doesn't work as you expected it to, you eventually stop trying to use it.

The iPhone XR is not a bad device, it's just not an inspired device. That last point wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't nearly as expensive as the device they are trying to replace when it launched.

Apple have become too expensive. Wages have been stagnant for a decade, houses are now +$1m AUD, and every company/government wants a little more for no effort on their part. Everyday there is a new expense that didn't exist 10 years ago. Sorry but No! Entry level +$1200 phones can go fly a kite.

They state:
"Larger display than iPhone 6 Plus in a smaller design"

Hey Apple: Let me know when you have an XR with a "Larger display than an iPhone 6 in a smaller design" or just keep walking...
:)

For some of us there is no upgrade in sight, no matter the offer....

This isn't going to work. Users need more of a reason to upgrade than a pricepoint and "all-screen" design.

Where's the real value proposition to benefit users' experience? I just don't see it.

For me (a photographer) it would be a far superior camera and non-OLED display. Extra battery capacity is icing.

Sorry Apple that's NOT going to happen.
I don't want a bigger phone. I may upgrade from a '7' to an '8' in a few months but that's it. I won't go larger. I simply don't need a Phablet sized device. The 7 and 8 fit nicely in the phone pocket of my Motorcycle Jacket. Anything larger and it won't go.
I can't be the only one who does not want Phablets?

I may be wrong but isn't the Xr smaller than the 7 & 8?
