So what are the more inexpensive (read: not buying Apple TV) options to watch this on a TV? I have a ChromeCast that I use for Netflix, Amazon Video, Disney+, YouTube and so forth and do not see a point in buying expensive hardware or a new TV for Apple TV+. :/

Amazon Fire TV?

Play/pause button with spacebar doesn't work right (in Chrome on a Mac at least).

Only Apple would launch a new streaming service with the play/pause button not working.

Edit: Also can't alter playback quality. It's trying to stream at full quality which my late 2013 13" MacBook Pro cannot handle. It can't handle it on Youtube, Hulu, or Netflix, all of which let me downgrade the quality. This computer is a furnace that just can't do 1080p which Apple TV seems to be trying to do.

And I can't try it in Safari. I get HDCP errors for all streaming services with Safari even though nothing is connected to the Mac, which is why I use Chrome for all streaming.

Edit 2: Restarted computer running no other apps, still unplayable on a Mac with 16 GB RAM. By unplayable I mean it stutters constantly because it's trying to play back in what I assume is 1080p. Have the same issue with other streaming services but can get around it by downgrading the video quality. For me Apple TV Plus is literally unwatchable.

That worries me. Not from the Apple TV+ perspective but your MacBook Pro's perspective. If it's late 2013, 13" model, then it must be retina, in which case your machine should be more than able to run 1080p. Furthermore HDCP is an anti-piracy related protocol so if you're getting that error for all streaming services in the machine in Safari, I strongly believe the problem is with your machine and not Apple TV+. Finally, I would also test my internet bandwidth if I were you. That stuttering could be caused by poor connection. Maybe a clean OS install is what you need.

The amount of content is staggeringly low. I can’t see anyone in their right mind paying for this 2 months in a row.

People will defend Apple but, I’m sorry, The Morning Show is the most expensive show ever made. Twice the cost per episode as Game of Thrones. 300 million for the first season. They had money to burn and they burned it poorly.

All that said... it’s free thanks to my new phone so whatever but Apple has 12 months to take TV+ seriously or it’s their next Newstand.
That‘s not true.

well thats strange it says am subscribed and ive not signed up for it and its not appearing in manage subscriptions lol

Quite interested in 'For All Mankind' because I really loved BSG and it's an interesting idea- female astronauts.
Then they blew it for me because every single one of the women in the trailer is crying so it's the same old stereotypes wrapped up as something bold and new and I bet it's going to miss the mark in that case.
Would they show a trailer with the male astronauts crying? De we really think female astronauts would cry?
I don't.
A backward step from Kara Thrace then.

Crying is a normal thing that humans do. Stop trying to get your panties in a bunch over nothing.

I really don’t like how Apple put their shoes at the front of my What’s Next. Why are the “next” when I haven’t watched them?

the worst streaming service launch Ever lol. Less than 10 titles and nothing else. All the hype about how it’s up against Netflix, amazon prime videos, Hulu, and Disney+. I can’t believe people are defending this streaming service. What a joke. 😂

Same mistake as Apple Music. Streaming service commingled with local and owned contents. I wish Apple executives "eat their on dog food" and rework on this design just like how Steve Jobs had the iPhone team change to gorilla glass shortly before launching the iPhone.
Apple executives just need to look at Netflix and Spotify. Clear and simple. Not to say that their app design is top notch (esp. for the awful auto playing trailers.....), but at least we clearly know what are we up to with those apps. For the Apple TV app, I don't even know what is from my subscription what is not. I can't even see a list of all episodes.

Thank you for that link! That literally does make me less critical, no sarcasm.

Still sounds like the show is on par with Game of Thrones, which is nothing to be proud of when you take place in a lit TV studio. But it’s definitely less embarrassing.

I think tv.apple.com is the web GUI.

Note: really really lame that I can’t cancel my free 1 year subscription without immediately losing service today.

It’s sad that I’m just considering cancelling today anyway.

Were you one of the original iPod knockers...?

I think the Spotify GUI is spot on.

I’m wondering about this....what if I sign up for Appletv+ today (which I am), it runs thru the week trial, begins to charge me, then I buy a new iPad (which I am thinking about). As long as I buy that iPad during the 3 month period of the free for 1 year offer, will I automatically stop being charged for the subscription monthly (For a year)?

What’s really lame is the fact that you don’t want to wait until 11 months or so before cancelling in case you forgot and Apple charges you £4.99 lol.

Wow, the whine factor is strong this morning.

Yes, the amount of launch titles is low, there are no bundled movies, etc. etc.

But for a free offering (to most who will activate it) Apple gets 12 months with a decent startup base to build it up.

i bought another ATV 4K for another TV last week so I could take advantage of the 1 year offer. Let’s see where this goes.

Wish Apple would stop this woke crap and sort out their creatives hardware. I waited until end of October for the 16" MB Pro (that I understand, Apple have not even acknowledged exists) and had a buyer for my 2019 i9 MB Pro, but being it's not happened, am stuck with a machine that throttles and whose keyboard and keyboard layout is a disaster. I do not care a bit about content, that is what Netflix and Amazon are for, Apple should fire TC who is only interested in shipping left over components from last year and dubious social issues (sorry, has to be said), and is NOT a product guy. Only one useful innovation under his watch, the AirPods.
Meanwhile, us power user creatives are attracted by all manner of fast innovative 2 in 1 Windows laptops with Wacom or similar pens. Yup, Windows sucks and MacOS is better, but once you're running the apps, it's all the same, for less money and more creative friendly ergonomics.
Check out a fully loaded Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 4, I have the Gen 3 i5, not powerful enough for 4K editing and such, but the more powerful configs of the Gen 4 (or Dell or HP equivalent), are not bad. And you get a decent keyboard to go with the pen operated touch screen. No need to compromise on OS with an iPad Pro.
So was hoping Apple would make a MacOS iPad Pro or convertible MacBook Pro.

This is an Apple TV+ thread and not a whinge and whine about how you didn’t do your research about the i9 MBP throttling and keyboard layout issues(SMH).

Don’t like it, get Windows then!

You know... Apple makes a great Reminders app. Go check it out 😜

If you activate the 7 days free trial,I don’t think you can get the 1 year free subscription, see line 2 in link below.
