AirPods Pro user for ~ 1 month now. Meh. For $220, I just don't think they are that great. 4 hour battery life or less. Constantly having issues with them not connecting properly (only one ear).

Noise cancelling does a little bit but not a ton.

Kind of feel I should have just picked up a generic $25-$50 set of whatever.

If your purchase was in any way shaped by the positive reviews for the ANC feature upon release you're within your rights to request a return and refund. As apple have stifled the ANC feature dramatically since release the device is now "substantially different in form or function" and is therefore eligible for a refund upon returning the device to apple. It doesn't matter when you purchased them or what country you're in.

Louder for people in the back:

The crackling is a known hardware issue, go get them replaced.

Not too loud or they won't hear you through the crackling. I coughed once and almost made myself deaf when they blasted those pops and crackles back at me.

Awesome ! Thanks for posting this...if in the fall the spatial effects are anywhere near these then Apple will have even more of a hit on their hands with Air Pods Pro. That 'Haircut' was trippy....wish I had listened BEFORE updating the Air Pods.
The illusion would have been the same. It’s using binaural mixing and only requires headphones. This is what Apple will do with spatial audio, but combine it with gyroscope to update the mix in real time to keep it static compared to your head position or even screen position.

Audio quality is pretty horrible if you are on the “off” toggle for AirPods. The other two modes are fine.
The off toggle is only there so you can compare transparency and ANC. There’s literally no need to use it otherwise.

I had to use the off toggle when the crackling started. It was the only mode not effected after Apple burst my speakers with the original ANC lmao

Here's this for a feature request: how about making a way to update the firmware manually? This is the only Apple device like this. Ridiculous.

Their ability to roll out firmware updates gradually and randomly is super important to make sure that they can catch new bugs before exposing too many users. Allowing manual updates is problematic because it skews their quality metrics – the ones that measure whether this new firmware is causing more errors than the old one – after a disproportionate number of enthusiastic power-users decide to manually install the update on the first day of a gradual rollout.

The magic of Apple's silent firmware updates for peripherals is sorely unappreciated. If you ask 10 AirPods users whether their AirPods firmware is up to date, 9 of them didn't know it even had firmware versions... but all 10 have already updated to a recent firmware version. Without ever needing to ask them, tell them, or impact them in any way.

Same for their keyboards, mice, many of their USB-C adapters, all of their Lightning adapters, Apple Pencil, etc.

Starting today the sound has been really messed up! When turning off the screen one iOS the sound lowers and rises two times and fluctuates. While watching youtube the sound would skip and play the the music i was listening to for a few seconds before youtube... it’s definitely acting up and need another update...

Saw this article. Plugged the case in, set it next to my phone. Firmware was update from 15 to 27 in 5 minutes. I never had the crackling issue with mine. Listening to them now, I’d say they have less bass. Maybe a tad bit louder. Definitely can’t do the automatic switching Without iOS 14. Running iOS 13.6 at the moment.

99.999% of users don’t know the AirPods firmware is even updatable. 90% don’t know what firmware is. It’ll update itself, no reason to panic.

It updated eventually but I have the same sound quality as before. Nothing improved for me.
Something must have happened because from the day I bought them till today they sound very different.

they sound great! Listen to this
I did like a million times already :)

But sound quality is lacking for me when I listen to music.
Very weak Bass compared to wired earbuds or AirPods.

Others say it's better, and I keep wondering how and why? Could be an ear fit problem...

NC has gotten much worse for me on 2D27 to the point I had to check if it was even on. This is rediculous.

did they make you pay? They told me that it would cost me $100 to replace them
Nope! It’s covered under warranty since they haven’t even been out for a year at this point. I didn’t let them put a $90 hold on my debit card so they could send me a replacement and I would have to go to the Apple Store. But that came off my debit card after about a day or two

Mine have been updated, and mine are still “crackling.” Had L replaced already, need L replaced again as well as R swapped out.🤦‍♂️

Did anyone notice that the “click” that you hear when you force touch the AirPod top got louder/sharper in this firmware release? And least it seems like that to me...although it’s just like that in the left AirPod...🤔

Mine updated during the night in the UK. On my morning walk couldn't tell any difference after the update.

I have the crackling sound in the left ear. The moment you walk or cycling, you hear this sound almost non stop.
Hope this firmware fixes the issue otherwise it's time to visit the Apple Store.

Edit: updated to 2D27 and the crackling sound is still.

FFS. This really is unacceptable in a product this expensive.

Definitely more bass after update. They pressed the Loudness button inside the AirPods, I guess.

The real thing about AirPods is they don´t deserve the money you pay for them.
I have two AirPods and one AirPods Pro.
I have problems with all of them.

One loses the battery so quick, but AirPods Pro, with this crackling sound I have.....it´s crazy....just move my jaw and I have the stupid sound.

I thought it was my fault till yesterday I saw the new firmware and all the people complaining about the cracking sound.

TBH, it is the last time I buy an AirPods.

It is worthy to buy a cheaper one and replace it every two years or something like that.
