I like the fact that it’s completely different and not just a slightly larger AW8. Because then everyone will be crying that Apple played it safe and can’t innovate.

But I’ll reserve judgement once I see the real thing. But this is meant to be rugged and functional, not some jewelry you might wear in the office.

The extra button is a game changer. This physical button along with longer battery life will certainly attract Garmin/Polar/Coros users.
This.

Very interested in the design decisions and compromises behind this as well as the advancements in engineering, materials science, and machining offered by this new design, especially shock/impact resistance.

It’s gonna look great. Especially for something built for a more “rugged” sports life.

If you want fancy, buy an actual mechanical timepiece.

But I’m guessing when this is resting on your wrist, you’re barely gonna be able to tell the difference between models. Other than maybe the flat glass.

Hmmm.

I’ll quote you when this thing comes out and you are buying it. “Oh I love my Apple Watch pro!”

Just give it a chance. Remember the iPhone seams guy? Said he’d never buy an iPhone with seams?

He’s me.
I lived with my Seiko automatic for more than 15 years before switching to an Apple Watch 5, primarily for health tracking, and because it was an easy add-on to my all-Apple device life (and work). It was a tremendous help in following my improvements in health, but that also made me want more out of a wrist-worn device, including getting back to something that better fit me visually.

I won’t be buying the Watch Pro as I’m completely happy with my Garmin Epix and its masculine form, toughness including 300’ water resistance, titanium cover and sapphire lens, as well as its 16 day battery life and great OLED screen. Not having cellular connectivity is the only negative and I’m ok with giving that up for all the other things it does offer.

That “extra button” isn’t a button, it’s the 5g little window like we have on the iPhones. And for the satellite stuff. You are welcome

As a triathlete I hope that this new Apple Watch plays well with other platforms, like Training Peaks. The main reason I have a Garmin is so that my coach can send me workouts and then track detailed results. Currently that's not possible on an Apple Watch.

If Apple is serious about targeting athletes it needs to get the software right, not the hardware.
This. The hardware for iPhones,
iPads, macs, watches etc is great. The problem is the software is a 5 out of 10. I don’t know what Cook has been doing but it’s pretty obvious the software department can’t keep up. And it’s strange how it can’t keep up in any of the products they have. The watch is finally getting sleep tracking. My Fitbit that costed me $99 5 years ago could do that.

All I can say is that i hope to god that this CAD design is just what is being sent to BAND MANUFACTURERS and has nothing to do with the actual watch size, shape, thickness, etc.

I think it should be called Apple Watch sport or elite, nothing here says Pro.

I am in the market for a new apple watch but I cant justify paying as much as an Ipad Pro for an apple watch that does almost the same things that my series 4 already does.

Interesting point, but it would mean the cases leaked today are wrong, because they clearly show it being a button.

I don't really care what it looks like, I just want better functionality and something that can compete with Garmin (from what I read in the other threads).
