Oh dear. Why then, could they count sales for the iPhone 6 and 6S? Demand for this phone will be weaker, as evidenced by the low production volumes.

Bottom line is that Apple don't want "iPhone sales drop year to date" - which they have done for the last quarter or more. But hey, you keep lining the pockets of tax evaders....

Even if demand will be weaker, there will not be enough supply on opening weekend to meet that demand. Nothing changes. Ahh, there's the bias. As if every global tech company out there isn't "evading taxes" by your definition. Ridiculous.

Nobody is going to want to buy that piece of garbage, so the sales are going to tank. The lack of a headphone jack has already made me to buy a Nexus 6p and there will be many other people who will be looking at alternatives.

What the hell was Apple thinking by removing it? Is the whole company full of incompetent morons?

Yes, "tank" but sell more than all Samsung flagship models combined this year.

I would like one and could really use one for development but I just can't afford it with the new ****** "Next" plans (and whatever Verizons equivalent is).

I wish 2 year contract plans + subsidies would come back.

No, I have many Apple products and have been a fan. Their approach now seems malicious and driven purely by profit and not a mixture of innovation and profit. Oh and they don't pay taxes.

So you're in the 1%. The tax thing is just plain dumb. I think they should pay more. I also know they pay more than every other company out there. Allowing that to change your logic about whatever is not wise.

Waiting on iPad news now. Not worth it to plunk down more $ on another iPhone so soon. Really hope we get a Mac-centric etc. event next month.

So I won't upgrade after all, as far as numbers couldn't care less.

Demand of nearly every iPhone has outstripped its supply by a large margin... so the number is dependent how many Apple is producing. It's become less about how many iPhones they sold that weekend, and more about how many they were able to deliver.

Blah blah low demand blah blah I don't like it blah blah. If Apple was going to not have back logs regardless, maybe I'd give it to you, but they will even if the demand was weaker than the 6s (because less will still be massive) and their production started late, or so we've been told. I'm surprised Apple didn't start this with the SE, though.

If 99% of the people on a Apple fan website want to see Apple burn, there must be a reason that Apple needs to think about.

Nothing to think about. No matter what one does , there is always hate by people who want to rip down anything.

You can post a beautiful picture of a rose on YouTube and some *hole will rip you down for not showing violets or daisies etc. etc.

What I don't get is why complain about a phone that one is not buying?

This is a great phone and whatever it has or doesn't have is a matter of preference.

If people like the Apple eco system buy into it, if they prefer Android buy into that.

By sheer specs and a few other niceties the Samsung S7 is mostly ahead of Apple, but nothing earthshaking that would make me leave my entire Apple world. Usually they overtake each other with each release in certain areas.

That all being said I only upgrade every 3 to 4 years on S cycles, so as I posted before , all these 7 features will be there, plus a few new ones, but in general I have no idea what else I will do (or even need) with my next 9S iPhone that the current 6S plus doesn't do.

Roses to all, um make that violets um or daisies!

Let's be cordial. I used to love Apple, but honestly nothing "wow" has come out of Apple for years. They're simply following the road map Steve Jobs laid out. Now that the road map is ending, they're just copying other companies and rehashing old designs.

Fair enough, the smartphone market has stagnated significantly, but iPhones still lack basic upgrades for a smartphone, an OLED screen, curved glass, proper construction of the camera module into the body.

If I don't like the way a company does business, then why would I not take a stance? They don't pay enough taxes, so I choose to no longer buy their products for this reason and others.

Oh and the price in the UK is £600. For a phone. They know who'll buy it, it's not people who like innovation or technology, it's people who like fashion.

Ridiculous logic that you think pure facts=drinking kool-aid.

That's rich when your previous response to me had zero facts and 100% personal opinion. I was the one that gave you the fact that "product sold out" is an empty term unless factual production numbers are attached to it. I'm saying you are drinking Kool-Aid precisely because you are ignoring the FACT that there is no guidance on the initial numbers of iPhones available for sale at launch and just calling the phone a huge sales hit anyway.

Now that Apple is playing "hide the ball" with initial weekend sales numbers for the first time ever for iPhones though I one can infer iPhone 7 sales numbers will not match thouse of the 6. Apple loves to crow when there is good news and hide when it's less than steller. Apple is putting out so much balloney info with the 7 it should open up a deli.

Personally I'm holding onto my 6 for now. The 7 is not a compelling upgrade w/ lack of headphone jack (dongle is not a solution for me as I run w/ my phone and it looks like the dongle will snap in two at the port with any amount of pressure.) Most people who like Apple products but don't have blind loyalty like yourself will take a wait and see attitude. Apple knows this will affect weekend sales. Buyers are not going to be rushing in. It might sell out, but it also probably adjusted initital production down as many rumors suggest. So selling out fewer phones than last year for the same period is nothing to brag about.

Pretty sure the problem is that Apple fan websites are filled with angry Android fans.

Don't deflect. You know as well as anyone else Apple fans have a right to be pissed off about this. Hopefully they vote with their wallet and don't buy this crippled crap and force Apple to rethink what they try to sell to consumers.

Yup... Validates their choice. And trashing another person or company lets them feel good about themselves in the process.

A nice two-fer...

Supplies have always been limited for new releases. Why hold back the sales numbers this time around?

Because the number sold is reported as indicative of demand. If Apple knows it only has 7 million iPhone 7 on hand to sell, then it knows it is going to sell them. That doesn't mean the 7 is going to be half as popular as the 6S or its lifecycle. But if Apple reported 7 million in sales for the first weekend, the stock price would tank and literally every news agency, news source and news program in the U.S. would report that number and many or even most would report it as indication of lack of demand.

In my circles the folks using a 6s are outnumbered by folks using a 6 by at least 4 to 1. And I know a lot people who like their iPhones. iPhone users outnumber Android users by 10 to 1 in my circles. But I'm not sure if I can name five people who bought the 6s. I know that is just anecdotal evidence and not indicative of other's experience. But the 7 will sell with the folks that I know.

Anyway, it is definitely a marketing spin move. But it is probably driven more by a supply issue than a demand issue. Still failure to have significant supply is an issue. Especially if Apple caused this issue initially by not having faith in the phone and the demand for it. Or if they screwed up a bit on finishing design early enough so that in August production could really ramp up.

Not hard to still sell when you've got a legion of apologists who will buy anything with a shiny apple logo for the sake of it.

Right, has nothing to do with people tied into your ecosystem with thousands of dollars dumped into apps you'd need to repurchase if you leave. It's ALL apologists. I guess that's why they sell as many Macs as iPhones too....or wai?
