I won't be surprised if the iPad mini doesn't get a Retina display. If it does get one, then great :)

If they don't talk about it, then a silent update will be coming. Unless the aesthetics change, there's really nothing to talk about anyway. Spec bumps aren't worthy mentions at Apple events.

Soon? They were previewed at WWDC. It's been awhile since that event... a long while.

What are you smoking? 32GB and 64GB are already available for the iPad minis. Why would they take that away?
They sure talked about the air. :p

As much as we predict Apple's next movement... if Apple followed last years dates.

2012...
October 23 - iPad event
October 26 - Preorders
November 2 - Ship date

2013...
October 22 - iPad event
October 25 - Preorders
November 1 - Ship date

Please iPad mini retina!!!! lol

With the same processor and going retina (higher dpi than reg ipad) do you think they bump the minis price?

How do they keep the profit margin up on the mini without raising the price and adding all these new features?

Maybe they skimp on the mini ram? worse camera? no touch id?

They keep the profit margin up on the mini by already charging a premium price for a mini retina even though the first didn't have it.

I sold my iPad 4 based in similar rumors in July. If this turns out to be false I'll be bordering on the verge of insanity.

Shaking my head at the gullible sheep in this thread now hoping for Touch ID in every Mac gadget. You know where this is heading right? If the NSA aren't collecting fingerprints at the present time, there's no telling when Apple will recieve a secret court order demanding Apple to start collecting and turning over all finger prints without the consent and knowledge of the users. Have you myopic people learned anything at all from the revelations these last months?

Yep they definitely don't care about computers, even if they do spend billions a year on manufacturing them

You can roll your eyes all you want, his point is well taken. Apple absolutely is not as focused on their computer line than they are the iToys. And, as you rightly point out, that while they spend and MAKE billions off of their Mac line, Apple is obviously more concentrated on the more profitable iToy line of consumer products.

For those of us who have been Mac users for a long time, we can only hope that Apple spins off the Mac division as a separate entity. PC's are far from dead, but Apple doesn't believe that and I fear the day is coming when they announce "in 2 weeks we're going to quit making Macs 'cause hardly anyone is buying them"....

After-all, they've done it before.

Mark my words... iPad mini will not have everything that iPad has. Maybe some but not all. Retina? 64 bit A7 processor? 8MP camera? I'd say only chip but definitely not Retina or 8MP camera. Retina is one of the flagship features for the top of the range iPads. It's what differentiates between the adults and the kids ;)

Tell that to the Nexus 7.

I would like to surely see a retina iPad mini. If they do release it, I think I may buy one.

I had to read that a few times as well. He meant as the starting model aka cheaper for larger ones.

Don't get me wrong, the more the better but I can't see these 2 devices being identical and just the size to differentiate. If that's the case, then I'll definitely grab a mini

Same here.

I just hope they don't give a price bump to a retina mini.

I gotta feeling they will... If there resolution 2048-by-1536, that none out in the industry have on a smaller tablet... I think they will mark it up.

2013 Nexus 7 actually marked up there tablet from last year model $200 to $230. And Nexus has a 1920-by-1200.

I don't know about A7 or 8MP camera but why would it not have retina? It was a total surprise the first one didn't have it. If the 2nd still doesn't, it will flop and flop huge. Just look how many people on MR are wanting, no, DEMANDING, it have retina. Apple knows it would be an epic fail if it released a mini without it. They may be having manufacturing constraints and it may come out with very limited supply but it will have it.

Apple's iPad-Centric Event to Take Place on October 22

For those of you selling ipad mini or ipad 2-3 any idea what prices they might be going for on craigslist or ebay? I am guessing there will be an influx hitting the market driving down prices quite a bit.

I sold my iPad 3 about two weeks ago for 410.00 plus shipping. I also threw in a few extras that would be obsolete with the iPad 5 anyways. I knew to sell it before this announcement. I'm guessing you'd get a little less than I did now.
