Wondering if there’s a methodical way in which FedEx and UPS are processing and shipping to those of us who made the “delivery on 10/14” cut – like is some computer crunching delivery zip codes and processing/confirming shipments FIRST to those in areas that might require more connections and effort for delivery, versus addresses in larger cities with presumably more delivery assets and those located in FedEx/UPS hubs – especially with such a large set of orders to deliver by one specific day.

Would be interested to hear from people in large cities and FedEx/UPS hubs that have received delivery confirmations as we can't see where most posters live.

I received confirmation of my 4s, 64GB, black, phone order on the Apple site around 1:30AM PST on Friday, and I’m kinda surprised I still show as “preparing for shipment” – I live in Portland, OR. With that said, I have no idea as to whether Portland would be considered to be an “easy to deliver to” city. :)

The FedEx/UPS tracking trick didn’t work for me, even with multiple number formats tried, but I suppose that makes sense as the charge to my credit card still hasn’t gone thru.

Ridiculous theory? Anyone with insight into FedEx/UPS?? Just a thought as I read through all the posts here and try to make sense of how this is working.

Still confident my phone will arrive on Friday and can’t wait!!!

I'm pretty sure they do it the same way as Santa Claus.
 
We will be at work Friday - can't sign for package. Any past experience on best way to get it? Can I pick up at Fedex / UPS on Friday or Saturday if I miss the delivery?

In progress status

Hello, I pre ordered a 64gb white model this past Friday at 2:05am pst /5:05 eastern time. I ordered from the AT&T premier site and I have received only one email stating that my phone was reserved and I should receive it by Friday the 14th.

I have then checked my order status through 3 methods all with a slightly little information:

1. www.wireless.att.com/order_status It says the following; Date Ordered: October 7th, Status: In progress,QTY Back-Ordered: 1, and Tracking number: Pending Shipment.

2.www.wireless.att.com/business/order_status It says the following, Date Ordered: October 7th, 2011 Status: Pre-Order, and Last Updated October 7th

3.www.att.com/eos/processOSRequest It says the following; Date Ordered October 7th 2011, Shipment Status: Backordered, Item Status: Processing, Last Update: The items in your order are not in stock. We have placed an order, and your estimated shipment date is as indicated. For more information on your order, please call us at 1-866-391-0749

I'm a little confused...But I did order in the early hours of Friday as soon as premier's website became available. I do see my bank has been debited as well. I am hoping that I receive my iphone the latest on Saturday, what I am concerned is that somehow I am now in the 14-28 day waiting list. Has anyone else experienced this with a 64gb model on premier? Thanks.

My date ordered was on 10/7/11

Item status says "processing"

But my shipment status says "back ordered"

We are pretty much all in that same boat - at least those of us who ordered directly from AT&T and we don't know what it means... from what i've read in this thread.

Does "backorder" appear in one of the columns? Trying to find out if people are seeing 'backordered' elsewhere.

I ordered my 4S through AT&T on the phone because I needed to get it shipped to a different address. Placed the order at 7:30am Eastern on Friday morning.

I still can't even check the order status online. It tells me the order is not found. When I call, they tell me that it's in there but I won't be able to check the order status until the 14th.

If I can't even check the order until the 14th, WHO KNOWS when I'll actually get the phone. I'm so angry/sad. I want my new iPhone :(

I think I just screwed myself by ordering on the phone. Am I the only one in this situation?

In the upper right corner it says back ordered. Do all orders say this?

Whats the trick to track these things?
 
mine is no longer backordered

Now says Pending Shipment.
Remember doing this last time.
No worries. They'll come in.
It is fun watching the planes though.

I think the 64GB models are a little "delayed" because from what I've been reading in some of these threads is that the people who ordered the 16 and 32GB models are the ones who's orders are progressing and even shipping. The people who ordered the 64GB ones have had their orders stagnant the last few days.
 
Something tells me that the Shipping Status wont change until the 13th. Possibly on the 12th when the label is printed.

That's my guess.

It's not just the 64gb when it comes to AT&T... I ordered 32gb and its still on backorder
 
I think the reason why Apple has already started shipping is because they ship from China. The phone carriers ship from the U.S. so the process starts a day or two later. Would anybody agree?

agreed 100% people whom ordered from Apple can track their orders because they are going from china to your doorstep, however the carriers are shipping from here in the states to your doorstep. If you ordered before 4pm on Friday, you will get your iphone on the 14th just relax people, its gonna be a long week for us all if we dont calm down and take it day by day....

BTW: the carriers should start shipping Tuesday or Wednesday the latest(my best guess)

Thats what I am trying to find out as well. I think that only AT&T orders are having these issues. From the sounds of things Apple orders are in transit probably on our side of the hemisphere already. Maybe its only the 32gb or 64gb orders are having this issues "processing" "back order" status.
 
So after a 1 hr 30 min hold on premier I finally got a rep..great guy...told me there was a problem with my order..I ordered two iPhones a family plan but their system showed one on family one on individual..he put me on hold for about 10 more mins..came back on the line and told me that not only did he correct the issue, but was able to "overnight" the devices...I'm assuming bc of the time I won't get it until Weds..but still great news..1-2 hrs b4 I get the e mail conf w tracking #...
