OKAY! I was able to get the payment made over the phone finally!!

Finally got an agent that could do it and it has reset my eligibility both with Apple and AT&T already.

Whew!

Did you pay the amount to upgrade, or did you pay it off entirely?

I updated my billing address through AT&T's website to match the address I want it shipped to (my office). If I order through Apple do they go by your AT&T billing address (to match up where the phone's being shipped) or the billing address associated with your Apple ID?

Thanks!

After 30 minutes on the phone with ATT I was FINALLY able to make my Pay to Upgrade payment of $37.45. Geez. Is there now a way to check either on Apple or ATT that everything is ready for me to pre-order using Next Upgrade?

Just go check your upgrade eligibility online.

Does this text reply from ATT mean I don't have any more payments to make for trade-in upgrade?

Congratulations! This line is eligible to upgrade today if you trade in the current AT&T Next device in good physical and fully functional condition. Or, upgrade without a trade in by paying the remaining installment balance of 299.60. Our fastest way to order is att.com/upgrade.

I spoke with an AT&T rep twice, and both said that I could do the Pay to Upgrade on my Next device during the pre-order tonight. Also, just as a test I went through with a currently available phone and it was going to make me pay that same balance off when I ordered. It will work tonight during the pre-order.

I really hope that works for you. Given the system slam, I'm not going to trust it.

How can I check to make sure my eligibility has been reset after I made the necessary Pay to Upgrade amount?

I'm contacting them right now to see if I can pay off what I would need to. I don't think the function of the website will change based on server load, but it would be additional steps I'd have to go through.

I was just checking my eligibility status through the AT&T app and noticed a little byline.

I currently have a Mobile Value Share plan and I get a $25 credit each month for having that. If I upgrade, there is a byline that states the credit will go away. UGH! That adds $300 to the cost of getting the 6S over the next year, which for me is a deal breaker.

Just a heads up to read the print...

Where can I find this?

I did it from the AT&T app on my iPhone. Viewed the account and then selected the option to check Upgrade Status.

On the website, you can view your upgrade options under your phone line and it says this for mine:

AT&T Next Eligible
Congratulations! This line is eligible for an upgrade with the trade in of the current installment billed device. For Mobile Share Value Plan customers, the $15/$25 discounts are not available with an upgrade to a new 2-year wireless agreement.

When I check my upgrade eligibility on Apple I get the following (see attached). Does this mean I'm good to go for pre-ordering tonight?

Mine shows the same thing, so I am not sure if going through Apple will allow it. Check the AT&T site directly...

You only lose the $25 discount if you do the old-school 2-year contract and take a phone subsidy. As long as you stay on the NEXT plan, I'm pretty sure you don't lose the discount.

Sounds like I need to make a call to AT&T. Ugh.

Say I have two lines on a traditional family plan that are out of contract, if I upgrade one to Next, can I cancel it at some point and put the Next plan on my other line? I'm thinking about upgrading my second line as a backup, but will probably want to cancel that number around December and keep my main number.

Just paid off what I needed to upgrade in an AT&T live chat in 5 minutes. Says I'm eligible for an upgrade!
