My guess is that she's collateral damage. She is the one who ends up disbarred and ends up leaving Jimmy for it. We've already seen that she is capable of Jimmy's kind of behavior, but doesn't approve of it.

I never saw Saul on BB, never got that far, but there is a very good chance that once the last vestige of my hope for Jimmy McGill drains away, I'll be done with this show too. That said, the Mike story has introduced consistent tension of the underworld sort, and so far, without the insight of BB, he strikes me as decent person and has helped hold my interest in the show. I read speculation that the show could last 5 seasons, the same as BB?

Right. I figure the worst that can happen to her is some sort of jail time.

It's possible she lives and the stakes aren't even close to high enough to put her life in jeopardy right now, but there are probably two and a half seasons left.

No way she just walks away. That would arguably destroy the show. Whatever happens to her shapes who Saul Goodman is in Breaking Bad.

They won't. Something will happen to her. She would have been in Breaking Bad if she were still alive.
yup. i tend to agree...

I like the show and have watched every episode, but my God it moves at a glacial pace.
I'm concerned it may be cancelled before we even see how things were supposed to play out.

Vince Gilligan owns AMC. If he wants to do 40 seasons of BCS, they'll let him do it.

Just look at the Walking Dead. That show has been trash for half a decade.

Ah, didn't know that.
That's good because as I said this story is taking forever to tell.
Which I can live with but was thinking it would be crappy if, say, viewership dropped this year and the show was cancelled and VG had planned on 6 seasons to complete his story arc.

I hear you. Particularly on the law side. The Jimmy part is boring.

I think VG has a finite plan for the show, but I think he has a lot of leeway with AMC. If they're only doing 5 seasons, he knows already and likely has it planned.

I trust Vince Gilligan to know how long the show needs to run so that the story is told, but it doesn't overstay its welcome. From what I've read, BCS is doing well enough to continue for at least one more year.

I realize that BCS is a prequel, but at some point it will presumably reach the Breaking Bad timeline. Will we see more about Saul during those years? And will it ever go into sequel mode, showing more about Saul after Breaking Bad?

I'm thinking they go 5 seasons over 6 years like BB did.

Courtroom drama can be riveting, but you are right, not enough in this show, but that does not seem to be what this show is about. Thank goodness we have Mike as the secondary story.

Update: added not to the above post.

I don't think that's entirely true. The writers said that we just never found much out about Saul in Breaking Bad, his personal life was never discussed because he was barely a central character. They said there's every chance she would have been around during the events of BB, we just never saw her.

But it is my personal theory that something happens which splits them. She doesn't like Jimmy's less savoury endeavours and he becomes a fully fledged crooked lawyer before BB, so I don't think she'd have stayed with him through that.

But I don't think we can write something off just because it didn't happen in Breaking Bad, this is an entirely different story set before the events of Breaking Bad but written afterwards. I imagine half the stuff that'll come up in Better Call Saul wasn't even thought of during the writing of Breaking Bad because, again, Jimmy/Saul was not a central character in that.

I don't think it'll be cancelled because even if AMC pull out, Netflix could probably fund it by themselves and they can afford to have a niche drama whereas a mainstream network possibly couldn't. Even then, it's been relatively popular too.

My biggest issue by far with the show, and in fact most Netflix releases now, is that it's released weekly. I know this is because it also gets aired on AMC, but Netflix's mission statement from the beginning was that consumers do not want to wait a week for a new episode and would rather be given all content immediately and choose how and when to watch/if to binge a series - it was meant to be the future of TV scheduling. I don't understand why Netflix went back on their word.

Weekly releases are frustrating and require far too much brain power to remember what happened previously. Especially as you mentioned that this particular show moves so slowly that the week's wait is not rewarded. Just give me all episodes, and let me decide how I want to watch and how much/how often.

It's an AMC show that you can also watch on Netflix. It's not Netflix original programming.

Outside the US it can be. I watched season 1 in Central America on Netflix the same day they aired on AMC, and it was marketed as a Netflix show.

the courtroom scene was pretty good

I agree.

I have to admit that I was a bit frustrated until about the last 10 minutes, but the ending was very satisfying. I knew that the guy who ends up working for Saul had planted something on Chuck, but the way it played out was good. From the preview for episode 6, I think we're about to see Jimmy become Saul.

I'm not sure what will become of Kim. In the preview, we see her walking away from Jimmy. But I can't see the writers just dropping her from the story line, and I like the character. For that matter, I wonder what they'll do with Chuck and Howard—what part do they play as Saul sets up shop?

Yup

To really make the Kim character worthwhile in the series should involve Saul corrupting her.

Alright guys, new plan. All the spoiler buttons are annoying. If you haven't seen the latest episode avoid this thread. I have appended a Spoiler warning to the first post so we don't have to hide everything in spoiler wrapping

Last episode was definitely the best one. Amazing acting and incredible writing. didn't know how it will end till the credits showed up.

The next few episodes will be really interesting. Really wondering what direction they will go from here.

I think Chuck, Kim, and Howard get killed. I can see it now. They witness something, or are in the wrong place at the wrong time...

how's that for a spoiler!?

I'll drink to that!

Lol, that's not a spoiler. So we know Chuck's problem is psychosomatic. You'd think this would have been easy to test prior to now, but I did not write the episode. :p Still trying to figure our what Kim's comment, bingo meant.

I forgot to mention thumbs up, skillfully written episode.
