Why? JC...

It just screams bad port to me. It's impossible to NOT use the keyboard on menus, the FOV is off, the mouse feels funny in-game, among other things. The online implementation on the PC version seems pretty lackluster as well.

I'm tired of spending $50 on lazy console ports.

I finally got a chance to dig deeper into the game and its still a solid game...I'm rocking the PS3 version for those interested in doing co-op soon. The one thing I don't like is the re-spawn of enemies...they re-spawn everytime...I don't leave the local map of the area and they re-spawn, its very ANNOYING!

Well I'm trying my best to get deeper with the game but Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2 and now Ratchet and Clank is fighting for my free time...damn.

I didn't think there WAS a 'deeper' to this puddle-thin game? Story, not really. RPG, not really. Too much loot, too mindless in the questing.

I think that the whole 'if a FPS and a RPG had a baby' thing over-sold the merits. Not a bad game, but overall a very thin and mindless romp. And yeah, I still play it and have a blast ;)

Yes it is a shooter, with character leveling thrown in. :D The story "find the vault" is there, but mostly you running around shoot'n stuff. Still great fun for coop, but if prefering a story driven game like Dragon Age, it's going to disappoint.

I'm playing the 360 version playing mostly offline coop, so I'm not feeling your pain. :(

I know what you mean here, getting sick of dual-platform games with menus that weren't changed at ALL from the console version, Start screens (seriously, why) and 5 gddam minutes of unskippable logos. But I cannot stand dual-analogue controls for FPSs and my friends all have the PC version too. Once you get in the game the mouse aiming feels normal to me. The game runs solidly, so I'm happy — provided I can actually connect to the game. The network code is fracked up. Only one of us dare host the game because if anyone else does no one can connect (and yes with port forwarding done correctly, even tried DMZ).

The actual game with 4-player co-op feels to me exactly like Diablo II 4-player co-op. Which is to say totally mindless and you can spend the entire evening playing non-stop having a blast. :D

Me and my coop partner are up to L25. I'm a soldier, he is a hunter. The farther you get into this game the more impressive the environment becomes. We made it to New Haven and its huge piles of junk laying around.

It was hard for me to give up my 93 damage 2x incinerary sniper, but now I recently found a 178 damage 3x caustic sniper. They are sweet weapons.

I know I'm repeating my self, but it must be emphasized... weapons with attributes (fire, acid, electricity) greatly out perform plain ole weapons with higher damage levels. I've got a 300 damage sniper, but so far, all I've seen at that high of damage are very slow shoot rates. The darn gun only shoots once every .5 times/sec vs 1.5/second for the lesser powered weapons with attributes.

I'm scratching my head with the Siren combat. I did find this link describing Siren combat. Her special ability in itself does not seem all that wonderful for projecting force in combat. Course, maybe I don't know what I'm doing...

I like the Siren, but she plays very differently than a typical shooter ... it really is a Rogue / Mage class type, and half the time I use her ability to get away from the action (in order to survive) and doing some disabling damage while moving to better position.

I just tried to take on Marley and Moe the two boss skaggs playing solo as my Siren. The quest is labeled as hard. More likely it should be called impossible! It was difficult in coop much less solo. I did manage to lure them over to the enemy settlement to the SE and all the other mobs started shooting at them, but it hardly made a dent and in the end I died... At the lower levels I see a real problem with the Siren and fighting high health bosses. Again, user error is probably the reason. :D

There are a few tweaks that can be done to make the game better on the PC.

FOV is definitely off and adding a tweak makes that SO much better. I use to get a bit of motion sickness with default FOV... after tweak not anymore. But I dislike how the FOV changes when sprinting.

As for the mouse, its probably the mouse smoothing feature, which may be turned off.

Here's a link from the Borderlands forums with various tweaks:

I'm playing solo and my strategy is to get to high ground...I lure moe/marley to the house on the corner, jump on top of the roof and pick away at them whiles avoiding the fire spit/electric thing.

I keep a lot of distance between myself and the big guys...staying high and picking them off.

I'm really enjoying this game more than I was before.

Thinking about it, I was on a big rock the first time... I'll look for that house. Thanks! There is just no way you can take on these mobs head to head without using some gimmick. ;)

The DLC is out and I'm thinking about getting it(Although I have games still in shrink wrap)...who got it and how is it?

Bless

Just picked up the DLC, but only got 5 mins playtime of it before I had to go to work. Looks good, although it can be considered to be "more of the same", but with zombies. Sense of humour is definitely present though.

Worth opening the shrinkwrap on the game to find out if you like Borderlands. If you decide you do, then get the DLC.

EDIT: Played the DLC through, and it was fun. Good length as well, 5+ hours of solid play in there. Made a bit of a boo-boo on one of the missions though (the Braaaaaains! trophy) and having to go back and re-do. Oh well! I'd certainly recommend the DLC.

Nearly finished the Island of Dr. Ned

Great DLC (actually more fun & entertaining than the main game. Also a great way to level up)

PC DLC has been announced.

The Ned DLC is indeed available from the 360, and can be accessed via Fast Travel.

^ Yep via fast travel.

I've completed all Island of Dr. Ned missions / side quests.

It was great fun, and for me better than the main game. Now i'm back to the Arid Wastelands and its a bit of a downer........
