Samsung does very little better than Apple. You think they do so go to the greener grass. Hold yourself accountable for your words.

Lol accountable to what? That Samsung does AI better than Apple? I'm sorry, but they do. It doesn't mean I want to switch to Samsung though because unlike you I'm not afraid to criticize the company who's products I use. You do you buddy, if you think Apple is the almighty then that's you're right. I also have the right to criticize them without going to Android. MacRumors has been critical of Apple on this as well, maybe they should become AndroidRumors because according to you if you criticize you can't use their products.

I just don't setup the iPhones with AI in any of the updates. Not even when I update my household MacBooks. For some reason I do find WhatsApp a lot "smarter" than iMessage, specially when texting. Now, if Apple's RAM wouldn't be so expensive, or at least replaceable by the phone or Mac user, then I would let AI use some of the RAM.

The iPhone 16 is still good at what it does. Yes I’m disappointed with Siri being delayed indefinitely but I’m still keeping my iPhone 16 Pro Max. If Apple were to announce that the new Siri features introduced back last year required future hardware, like an iPhone 17 Pro or later, then Apple would have a riot on their hands. What I’m most worried about is the possibility of Apple being like, “nope, you have to have an iPhone 17 Pro if you want the new Siri because 8GB isn’t enough.” In that case, everyone deserves a free iPhone 17 Pro or a full refund. I can totally see Apple doing that and I’m pretty worried about that happening

There is no shortage of videos and MR articles about the disappointment of Apple Intelligence, especially with the delay of smart Siri for an unknown date (maybe even after iOS19).

Does this mean iPhone 16 owners can return their phones on the grounds of having a key feature cancelled? I’m talking outside of the 14 day usual Apple Store return window..
No, it’s not cancelled. It’s still under development. Mistakes do happen to anyone, even the biggest of companies. It has taken longer than expected to deliver on these features, and they will eventually come out. And the current iPhone 16 has the required 8 GM RAM to support those features. And it’s not that Apple hasn’t released a single feature that was promised. They have updated Siri with ChatGPT integration too. So don’t worry, you will get what you bought your new iPhone for.

Take Apple Intelligence out of the equation for a second: why else would you return it? Without AI it’s still a great phone.

I’ve never really had a problem with Siri TBH. I don’t expect a digital assistant to do more than play a song or set a timer. The rest of the stuff I can do myself.

The current MacRumors podcast discussed this issue and the guy opposite of Dan brings up a good point. There’s an unfinished incoherence with Apple these days.

- Apple vision that too heavy to use
- camera control that is awkwardly placed

It’s seems as though testing and refinement didn’t happen when the negatives are so glaring. I had the 16 for a few weeks and didn’t like the camera control placement. And didn’t care for accidental presses. I definitely could live without this. I don’t have experience with the Vision Pro but I do see it often has a dedicated table that’s completely abandoned and empty.

Anyway, thanks Apple for saving me money and not pulling 1k from my pocket.
Always funny reading comments like this while wearing Vision Pro. The exact same Vision Pro that you and people that are probably never even been near it say is too heavy to wear.

Think this is probably the four hour mark that I’ve been wearing it today. But yeah. If you got a weak neck and a hate for Apple, I guess you’ll have opinions like this.

I was referring to you being able to use your car as a taxi, but yeah, enjoy your "self driving". Just be alert because it's still pretty terrible.
I would never use my car as a taxi because people don’t respect other people’s property. I could do that now with Turo. I know people that make money off of that, but it’s not something I would want to do with my personal car. I think it’s best to do with cars you buy for that purpose and have no attachment to. If they get abused, oh well, just fix them. Most people don’t like their personal cars being damaged or abused.

I wouldn’t call FSD terrible but you have to be alert because it’s not 100%. The way I think about it it’s like cruise control. You get on the highway and you set your cruise control. That doesn’t mean you can just pretend there’s nothing in front of you. When you see yourself coming up on that semi it might be time to disengage cruise control, and slow down. Just like before, I would never want a car without cruise control now I would never want a car without FSD. I think it’s going to be at least 10 years before we can buy a car with true autonomous driving where you can just sit down, relax and enjoy the ride like you’re in a taxi.

You learned the FAFO of Tim Cook. He’s a carrot and stick CEO. Only to appease shareholders.

A CEO should have a vision of the product AND shareholders.

Series 10 watch? Trash.
UW2? Same thing but gray.
IPhone 16 pro? Same thing as 15 but added a button.
iPad mini 7? Added a blue color and screen is still garbage.

This does seem like a legitimate questions considering they took down an ad featuring AI Siri used to sell the iPhone 16 and added a disclaimer to the iPhone 16 web page.
This is what could actually win a case. Apple won’t admit it until you bring a lawyer to the court though. They will not do this for a few customers.

There are other articles on this very forum highlighting how Apple has changed the advertising of this feature now that it is delayed indefinitely. This was a, if not, THE main point in the keynote as well for the 16

.......but I am guessing you knew that already and being difficult because reasons

But they never actually did say it was a feature in device at purchase right?

Although my iPad Air has Apple Intelligence, I still wouldn’t feel bad if it didn’t. Using the ChatGPT app on desktop is just so much quicker. Sure, there’s Genmoji, but I don’t need it.

There are plenty of consumer protections agencies in the EU that would gladly take care of this for you and win, because you can't sell a product or service and fail deliver a key part of the product.

The argument that it's still a great product without AI features doesn't hold as Apple has simply done way too much marketing and been way too specific about its promises to simply brush it off.

From WWDC to the iPhone 16 ad that was taken down. There's more than enough to argue that you were sold on AI features.

At the very least, the agency would put a price on the missing features, deduct the value of the iPhone itself, and Apple would have to reimburse you for the difference.

Getting a complete refund could also be possible if you can successfully argue that the missing features were the main incentive for buying.

In the E.U., yes. But in the U.S.? I don't know. You probably have to go directly to a lawyer as I don't think there's any agency that would handle this for you.

If I were you, and you're actually serious about this, I'd start by emailing Apple, or wherever you bought your iPhone, explain your issue, like how you were misled, and ask for a refund.

It's very important to stress how you bought the iPhone to use AI and how you were expecting to use it right away but don't even know when it will be available. How it's poorly implemented and far less than what was advertised.
Being ambiguous about what the marketing made you expect and how it has impaired your user experience will hurt your case.

They will surely reject it. But you have to have something documenting your dispute if you want to take it further (legally, there is no dispute until the seller or manufacturer has rejected your request for a refund).

My m2 MacBook Air has Apple intelligence. I have no idea what it does other than when I call up Siri to create a reminder, it says “apple intelligence”. lol basically that’s what iPhone 16 is. It’s “there” but basically useless and thankfully most people didn’t buy it just for the ai feature… hopefully

I had an S24 Ultra last year, returned it within the 14 days.

No offence, but the AI there was like a fisher price toy. Especially the wallpaper generation. Half baked live translation feature that didn’t kick in or be responsive. At best it’s as bad as Apple Intelligence (cool ideas, poor execution) or at worst, more gimmicky.

That was Samsungs 2024 turn. Current Apple Intelligence is Apple’s 2024 turn. Some cool things from Samsung this year.. not sure how well it works versus demo. That’s its 2025 turn. Apple gave until WWDC now to present their next AI turn

Apple certainly won’t make a policy allowing it - but my experience is that Apple is VERY permissive if you go in to an Apple Store and plead your case. If you’re like, “I only upgraded to a new iPhone to get Apple Intelligence and it doesn’t do the stuff Apple said it would” I bet it wouldn’t be hard to find a sympathetic manager who’d make an exception.

Never buy a product for what might happen. Always buy for what it can already do. And no, you can't return because the software is delayed.

People need to read the EULA instead of just blindly agreeing. Doing that would have answered the question without the thread.
I wish more people practiced this. I always hold out hope that what a company says will come actually does, but I always buy based on the existing feature set.
