Yet another product that Apple have been unable to deliver on time.

Especially since on Friday apple stated "We said november and its still november"..

Well now its very December and still no Canada iTMS in sight.

I read yesterday that, in July 2003 they announced that apple was close to launch the ITMS Canada! I just smiled, thinking of how I'm gonna laugh at this thread in a year!

So frustrating!

Ok folks.. nothing to see here.. move along...

Some mod. please close this thread, there is nothing useful being said here.

When somebody has a response from the Apple PR people, then it's worthy of posting a new thread.

Who are you?

sad thing is we may never know the real reason behind this further delay.
gotta tell ya though if i ever find out it has anything to do with quebec & language issues i am on the next train to toronto! :)

regardless - apple should be more careful with their statements in future. they know how passionate mac users are. and this time they REALLY have let us down in a big big way.

wait a sec - just in the last 5 minutes (it's 0755am EST Dec 1) I am now able to browse any store (i'm in canada)

maybe this is just a sign they gave up on iTMS canada (there's no canada icon in the list of iTMS stores)

If you're so sensitive with the language issues in montreal, I think you should go right now to Toronto. It would be good for you and for montreal too!!!

apologies if my comment was not clear. certainly do not want to fall into the trap of turning this thread into a political commentary.

i am of mixed-language heritage and consider myself a bilingual francophone but i have to say it isn't so much the language issue as it is this sense (probably wrong & paranoid on my part) that those with power in this province are hoodlums who will block something just because they have the power to do so. i am probably just being weird---give me a break ---it is too early for clear thought or logic. :)

thing is steve and that other nathalie woman both sounded so sure this was going to happen.

why say something when the negotiations are not yet done.

steve " ...our great customers in canada have wondered 'why not us, we're closer?' and we've had to work things out with the licensing and stuff - we've finally got it all worked out so next month we're opening in canada."

it's the labels

once again, the labels are the cause. they had a blurp about this in the paper this weekend. if re member correctly, bmg and sony wants to distribute the money 'to the right people' themself.

i just feel bad for indiependent labels, there is no legal alternative for mac user in canada. but for major i really don't care. i haven't bought one single album from a major label since 2000 and hopefully never will again.

Yes there is. As people have pointed out file sharing is legal in Canada.

Don't cry for the record companies or the artists, it's their own fault. They whined and moaned to have consumers forced to pay levies put on blank cassettes, blank CDs and mp3 players no matter what they are used for. So guess what, if you burn your own documents to a blank CD, you are still paying the recording industry, even though you are getting nothing in return. Somehow the record companies believe that this particular form of vulturism is fine.

It so happens that the same law turned out to protect file sharing. Now the record companies are whining again – just because the legal system came down on the consumer's side for once. I guess they should just learn to live with the consequences of their own actions. Payback feels pretty good, actually.

Don't cry for these scum, they are getting exactly what they deserve. And frankly, if the stories about the causes of the delay to iTMS Canada are true, it shows us how much better off we would be without Sony and the others.

No new information

Canada.com posted a story about the lack of iTMS Canada, which states that nobody at Apple Canada or Cupertino is saying anything.

Thanks a lot, Apple. Great way to treat your customers.

I doubt it is Apple's fault.

Apple wants to bring the iTMS everywhere at a reasonable price. The problem is with various national recording industry associations and companies who want to line their pockets at the expense of their customers.

The sooner the law allows these institutions to die a natural death, the better for everyone else.

I don't give a crap about WHY it happened; the fact remains that Apple promised a November release, didn't deliver, and hasn't said a word about it. If you're in business and external forces make it impossible to deliver your product on time, you're supposed to inform your customers!

I know they probably won't, but I hope Apple learns a lesson from this. DON'T PROMISE A TIME FRAME IF YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE THAT YOU CAN DELIVER!!!!! It really does reflect poorly upon them.

The joys of a quasi-socialist government.

Yeah, universal healthcare, a higher standard of living, more mature media, someone who isn't a vegetable as political leader. Terrible stuff, eh?

But what does the Canadian record industry have to do with the federal government?

So, it was about 3 a.m EST, and I was in that chat room. I opened the iTMS and it takes a damn long time to load. Turns out my wireless internet went down just untill now.

Well said! Why say November if it's not November.

Probably because they are very close to getting a deal done.

Meanwhile, why not log on to Gnutella? You've already paid for the music you will copy through the levies paid on your ipod and blank discs.
