Sadly, you're a bit premature, but your heart's in the right place. :)

Oh sorry, didn't mean to rub it in...

It looked to me like the "ca" site had changed a little from what others were describing here, and that you were up and going.

Soon, though, soon....

Check out the iPods on the Canadian Apple Store. The following products' blurbs mention the iTunes Music Store:
  1. iPod U2
  2. iPod mini
Well, I guess it's not that impressive a list, but from what I remember it was never mentioned on any Canadian iPod page before.

It's been like this for at least the last month. I remember checking this after the october 26 release of iTMS Europe and it was this way.

It would certainly seem that today should be the day for Canada iTMS. After all this is Tuesday, usual announcement day. Our Canadian friends deserve a break today.

meanwhile in America . . .

The store is updated with new music (inside each respected section) BUT . . .
1. The front page is unchanged (except Staff Favorites, I think)
2. The music videos are not updated
3. Celebrity Playlists are not updated
4. There is now a "new" tag next to gift certificates

So . . . I guess we're just waiting for Steve to hit the "launch and conquer the world" button.

Hmm. More new behaviour.

Typing in www.apple.ca diverts you to apple.com/ca

So, it looks like Apple Canadas site is being updated?

Great Music Store Mandrills! Has always done that. Everyone's getting a bit paranoid. :D

edit: dang, reckless beat me to it.

Is anyone else like me, just having to stay infront of my computer incase something "changes" ? :)

I wonder if everyone in cupertino is super calm sipping coffee right now or it's all hands on deck after a nice thanksgiving week off.

waiting...waiting...

Uh....no?

I just checked the sections I frequent the most and have found no change. It's 9:13 Central and we should be getting something by now. Dance, Electronica, and Latin have not been updated for sure (those are the ones I was just at yesterday and can judge against what I see today)

And on the Apple Canada iTunes download page,

which makes one wonder where one should download the books if not from iTunes but the link is currently dead.

Only a matter of time now...
The audio books in the iTMS are courtesy of www.audible.com. As a matter of fact, in Canada, you can save $125 off of any iPod with a 1 year subscription to audible.com through www.chapters.ca. It is worth it, and you don't necessarily need the iTMS to purchase audible music. When you go to play Audible tracks in iTunes, it will ask for your Audible login ID to confirm your purchase. Hope that answers your question.

Check the "Just Added" "See All" text list... there's new stuff.

BTW... What's up with the "New" tag on Gift Certificates? There's nothing new about them. A flat out lie for the holiday season?! :D

Maybe there's a new amount you can buy a gift certificate for. Like "New! $500 iTMS Gift Certificate!" or something like that ;)

itunes/store

The relevant link will almost certainly be www.apple.com/ca/itunes/store, and that's not active yet. Hopefully the Canadian recording industry hasn't managed to piss off Apple so much that we'll never get iTMS... after all, Apple's under no firm obligation to carry through with iTMS Canada :(

Could be it... Except fewer, not more. I think it used to be all the increments of $10 from $10 - $200.

Now it's $10, $20, $30, $40, $50, $75, $100, $150, $200.

…aside from looking like shmucks to their investors, and the Apple nerds here in Canada.

Was there a software update when they released the ITMS EU???

I guess there was one around that time...

Will there be one when they'll release ITMS Canada?

Yes, there was... for the iPod photo.

Will there be another? I sincerely doubt it... with Canada only 30 days after iTunes 4.7, I'm sure the necessary stuff is already in there.

At least Canada is a definate.

What about all the rest of us. Here in Japan we are still waiting and waiting and waiting.

Gomen nasai, ne... :)

It seems like there are a lot of road blocks to opening the iTMS in Japan, which have been covered on other threads.

So, on the upside, I'm now enjoying life in Canada where I'll soon have iTMS, but I miss Tokyo, where I had easy access to my Utada Hikaru DVDs...

at least we're not Australia

From the Australian Apple site iTunes download page (obviously been a while since it was updated):

iTunes is licensed for reproduction of non-copyrighted materials or materials the user is legally permitted to reproduce. Purchases from the iTunes Music Store are available only in the United States.

The Canadian page has the same format, but the footnote is at least current (same as US and UK pages, actually):

iTunes is licensed for reproduction of non-copyrighted materials or materials the user is legally permitted to reproduce. Purchases from the iTunes Music Store are available only in the United States, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, and Spain.

Of course, even if Canada gets iTMS, it may be a fair while before they update the legal footnotes... but it would be nice to be inserted somewhere prior to Luxembourg
