Caudabe Lucid Clear Impressions

Unfortunately I have some scratches already on the band from taking the case on and off to clean.

Also, another misfortune, I dropped my phone and cracked the case. Thank goodness it was only the case. I have already emailed caudabe for a warranty replacement.

I knew I wouldn't be the only one (as far scratches go).

There's no buttons on this case. The poster above just be confused.

Opps, sorry! Yeah, I meant the plastic piece cutout around the power button. See picture attached.

I already got a response from Caudabe and they said they'd send me a new case, but that doesn't fix the fact that it's cheaply made and will probably happen again even though I didn't do anything to make the piece break, lol. But, whatever you get what you pay for and at least they sent me a new one.

I can't be the only that has an issue with lip or front outer edge, what ever you want to call it, hurting my ears when I use the device as a Phone? No one else has this issue? The edges Finnish don't hurt anyone else's ears?

If so, I am starting to think I may have a bad case? Caudabe has already offered me any replacement I want, just wondering if this is isolated to my case. If it is, I will get the same case.

Wow. How the hell did that happen? Caudabe is one of the best ones out there. I do love this case though.

You’re not the only one. The sharp edge of my case hurts when I’m holding it against my ears. And I’ve seen at least one other person on the forums saying the same. To me, it’s the only true sore point of the case - really wish I didn’t have this problem because I love how the case looks on the phone.

It’s sharp & rough which is a bad combination. don’t take that many phone calls but I can imagine it being uncomfortable.
I’m using mine with a screen protector which means no protruding lip - mine had barely any lip anyway so the screen wasn’t protected by the case. Adding a separate screen protector raises it quite a bit above the case.

Not ideal but the end result feels ok - the height of the screen protector means you don’t feel the sharp edges of the case, and the case is still one of the best looking when its on.

I feel exactly the same. I loved the way the phone looks in this case, and have gotten use to it (the slipperiness), but every time I take call, it's torture lol.

I wonder if they get enough complaints if they would consider addressing. Someone in this forum has already mention another version coming out with an improved Lip.

Hi guys, I am still waiting for my SlickWraps naked wrap. Do you think it will fit in the case after applied? There is another thread about the stainless steed bad getting scratched from this case.

Are you guys keeping the case despite the scratches?

I already have many scratches on the chrome finish.

It’s simple. People don’t realize yet how easily stainless steel scratches. They also don’t realize yet how easy it is to polish out scratches. Google stainless steel polishing. This isn’t like the aluminum iPhones of yesteryear where scratches are there forever.

The case is really easy to remove. I remember back in the day getting some other full coverage clear cases (I think Power Support) and you basically had to tear off the case to get it off. Lucid Clear slides on and off if you use the two slits on the bottom corners.

I have two of these cases sent to me and both are creaky messes. I have been told by Caudabe that slight size differences between the Silver SS and Space Black iPhone X’s caused problem with the first round of production cases. I am going on my third when I get the next one. Going the next one does the trick.

does it just scratch from the edges rubbing when you put it on/remove it, or do you think it might scratch while leaving it on?

I have mine on at the moment with an Orzly screen protector (necessary as the lip doesn't protect the naked screen). Not a fan of the Orzly, seems to reduce touch sensitivity a bit, and the circles around the notch are distracting.

He probably tried to take it off from that end and broke the strip by he buttons. Just have to use some common sense with these cases. They’re just plastic after all. I usually start at the bottom if I’m taking off the case since there are two cutouts already there.

I’m still really enjoying mine. Best clear case I’ve had yet. I got that Spigen Liquid Armor and by comparison it’s significantly thicker and gets gross in the hand. The worst part is that it already started yellowing after one day of use which I should’ve known better since it’s a TPU case. Going back to the Lucid Clear felt like buying a new phone. Much better overall feel.

Look on Amazon for cape cod cloth. Scratches aren’t a problem unless it’s a deep cut from say dropping the phone. Anything caused by incidental scraping by a plastic case like this can be buffed out for sure.

I’ve got a screen protector and my ears aren’t affected for the reason you mention. Although I did use it without a screen protector on the first day and don’t remember this being a problem. I suppose everyone’s sensitivity could be different as well since ears aren’t all built the same.

This case is awesome so far. Agreed that the case and screen protector together works really well. It looks and fits phenomenal.

so will you have issues if you have a SG or if you have a Silver?

I’ve got a space gray and my wife has the silver. Both of us have Lucid Clears and they both fit great. Sounds like just an isolated issue.

Speaking of which, a friend of mine picked up the Power Support clear case for me. Power Support was always the standard for those hard clear cases so I was curious. Lucid Clear is hands down better. You want to talk about sharp edges, the edges around the screen of the Power Support are ridiculously sharp. And the fit was bad, there was noticeable creaking when I pushed the sides. I went back to my Lucid Clear within minutes.

Huh, that’s interesting to know. I’ve been wondering why Power Support isn’t at the Apple store anymore. I never really liked the fit of their cases but they were a staple of the case selection at the Apple store.

I have the space gray and have no issues with the fit on my Lucid Clear, by the way. Fits great. Actually started with the silver and then switched to space gray. I think the case looks better on the silver though to be honest. It’s just blends in better with the lighter colors. On my current space gray, the case itself is more obvious. Still a nice case, but aesthetically probably better on the silver. Just my opinion.

I tried this case but I didn’t like it. Too slippery and no lip for protection. I got the incipio ngp pure clear case and it has a great grip to it and feels very premium compared to other soft clear cases that I’ve used before. The caudabe is a beautiful case though.

looks like yours might have a small lip even with the screen protector on? Mine doesn't even when naked, so a screen protector sticks out a lot from the front.

You might want to send Caudabe an email. I asked them about the next batch of cases having a bit bigger lip, and they confirmed and offered to send me a new one when the cases come in, free of charge.

Could someone please answer the following:

1.Can the current versions lip be felt when swiping off the edge of the screen? I have the Veil XT and it has no lip so its like swiping without a case on it.

2. Does anyone have a picture of this case on a Space Gray model that they could post on here?
