So here is my experience in case it helps:

After placing the order with my AT&T billing address, I called in try to change the shipping to my desired address. I used the method from above about calling macbook sales and asking to be transferred, and spoke to someone within 15 minutes. I was told it was no problem to change the address. He changed it and said it would take 24-48 hours to update online and to recieve an email confirmation. The time was 11:30am eastern.

As of 8pm this evening, nothing had changed on my end, and I had received no email. So I decided to call again, and using the above method again I spoke to someone in about 20 minutes to verify the change.

They told me that the request to change the address had been submitted to the "back of the house" but they have been having issues with AT&T orders. Specifically with changing the address. Therefore they didn't know if the change would be made before it was shipped. They then told me that if it does ship before the change, apple will submit a request to the shipper to change the address, and I should still get the phone on time.

I asked about changing the shipping on my end using ups mychoice or fedex delivery manager but he said that this can cause problems because Apple has an agreement with the sippers that they are only to make changes that come straight from Apple.

So here I am, hoping Apple wasn't feeding me b.s. and that my orders arrive on time at the address I need them to be at. Sorry for the long post but I figured I would share it with yall since this forum has been so helpful for me.

Finally made it through to Apple this morning by calling Mac sales first. Total time on the phone, 18 minutes. The guy put me on hold for like 5 minutes to get approval and I received emails reflecting the change within ~30 minutes.

That being said, Apple cut off part of my office's address so I was merely adding a word after the suite number...so the approval process might be different than a complete change.

I got thru this morning to Apple, after 1hr 44min on hold, not too bad considering the results. The Apple Rep was amazing! I said, "could I change my shipping address" she replied, "Absolutely!" I asked if a change would delay shipping, ect...her reply, "of course not". She was so helpful, friendly, happy and really knew what she was doing. It took about 3-4 minutes to change and re-route two different orders. As soon as I got off the phone, I received a confirmation e:mail from Apple showing the address delivery change. I logged in to my Apple account and the address delivery change was already updated there as well. Very impressed with the service I received, albeit, with millions of phone calls, the hold times are long, but the results were worth it.

Wow, I had a much different experience. The rep put me on hold 2-3 times and the call took 30 minutes. She said give it 24 hours to update. I haven't see an update in the system like you have and now that my iPhone is preparing for shipment I am a little concerned that I do not know which address it will ship to.

edit: I spent 30 minutes with the rep AFTER a 1 and a half hour hold.

Called this AM at 8 EST. Took 8 minutes to get a rep. Rep said since it is in preparing for shipment she had to issue a request that could take up to 72 hours for the change and there was still no garuntee.

I'm sure I shouldn't have any issue so at least hopefully on Friday I won't have to ride out 30 minutes to pick it up from the other address.

If you're only 30 minutes away, i don't know if i would try to make a change this late in the process. Not to say you're "late" but id be paranoid about it delaying the actual 19th delivery date. Just my $.02

Success

I called around 7pm EST, and was on hold for 1hr40min. Got to a nice lady, and I asked if I can change my shipping address to my billing address. She said sure thing, and took care of it. I asked her to send me a confirmation email, which I got within 2 minutes(she stayed on the phone until I got it). The change was immediately reflected in the email on on the My Orders page on apple.com. No change in delivery date(9/19). My order is listed as "processing"

Next time, which is what I had my friends do, just go to the ATT site and change your billing address to wherever you want to ship the phone. Then place the order, and then immediately go back and change your billing address to what it was. This messes up nothing with your order or ATT account, and saves you a 2hr call.

this happen to me as well. my status was "Preparing for Shipment. the Rep said since it's out of processing, she have to submit a request to the "back office" and i should get an email within 24hrs. i also specifically asked will this affect my delivery date?... she said no.
*fingers cross*

Had my address changed Saturday morning at 845am EST and she said she sent it to the back office... Still waiting for an email and for it to be changed.. Starting to get worried now

I have now called three times to try to do anything to change the address. They have told me that it has been submitted to UPS at this point to change the routing of the package.

Basically, UPS is supposed to be checking for address changes at every sorting facility so they should see and requests. Also I use UPS mychoice which allows me to change the address of incoming packages, but it will not let me due to a request from the shipper.

Since my order is on its way to the wrong state (I recently moved), worried is not a good enough word to describe what I'm feeling.

I had it changed Saturday morning to my work address, the apple dude put the wrong letter (our offices are based off of north, south, east and west) so instead of putting S*** he put ******* granted it still had my name and company address. I called to change the letter, she sent it to the back office, haven't heard anything and its not preparing for shipment. Might as well let the package receiver know that its coming -shrug- I guess most iPhones are coming fedex and I could always sign up to change my shipping address on there, but i dont want it to affect my delivery.

Change Shipping Address

Finally apple is reflecting that I have my address updated for shipping!! Woo no chance of missing delivery now this Friday

I called last night and went through the sales line and then transferred to customer service. Was on the phone for about 10 minutes total and got my address changed without any hesitation. Was already showing on apple.com before I got off the phone. I also asked about any faster shipping due to the online store snafu and was told that everyone was getting expedited shipping automatically because of the screw up.

ATT Address change experience

I posted on Saturday my experience with changing the shipping address.
From reading other posts...it must narrow down to who answers the phone.
My Apple Rep, Lilly, was amazing! It took about 3-4 minutes for two separate orders and as I mentioned in my previous post, as soon as I disconnected from my call, I immediately received a shipping address change confirmation e:mail. I logged into my Apple account and the shipping address change was already updated!

I mentioned the experience of others and the rep told me it was basically luck of the draw. Some people have no problems getting it switched and some people have problems. I would love to say that I will be patient and trust it but I'm sure I will be calling them again today.

Mine changed :) No confirmation email (yet), but I've been checking every half hour or so and I just caught the change. I am happy future iPhone 6 owner.

Im glad that most if not everybody is having great success with the change of address!

Damn! Even though it updated on the order it looks like it got to UPS before the update. I wonder if there is any chance that Apple can or will contact UPS and update/redirect it.

i'm curious. for those that have successfully changed their address… was your order status shown "processing" or "preparing for shipment" at the time of your address change request?

i was told it was more complicated to change it, once it's IN "preparing for shipment"

thank you. anxious and nervous

I believe I called on Friday and got it changed within 6 hours. At that time it was definitely processing. If yours is already prepping for shipment then try calling ups? I'm not really too sure but hope you get it worked out.

So I just fonay got an email from apple saying "we are working on your request" for my order that is still "processing". Nothing yet for my other order that is preparing for shipment.

Also, my orders are still showing the incorrect shipping address online.

Baby steps.

I was told by an Apple rep that if Apple notices a shipping address discrepancy between the shipping address on the order and the one on the UPS shipment that Apple will ask UPS to redirect that package. I'm hoping this is actually true. Either way, once there is some actual tracking info on my iPhone I am going to call UPS and attempt to redirect it myself. They are overnighting the iPhones, so if it's caught fast they've got a couple days to redirect it before the delivery date.
