For me it'll be more about whether the 6s Plus will get me through another year until the 2017 iPhone. I'm sure I'll want the latest and greatest and almost pull the trigger but if there's nothing more new than what we already know, the fiscally responsible thing for me to do will be to wait until 2017 when I have an upgrade available.

Especially funny because we all know what's going to end up happening in the end.
I'm on the non-s upgrade cycle, so I was due to upgrade to the 7, but instead, I opted for the SE (and I'm loving it). My wife is on the same schedule, but she's not really jazzed up over the iPhone 7. Its hard to justify spending 750+ dollars on a phone that isn't much different. True, she'll miss out on the the improvements that were added into the S version, but at this point, I think its difficult to justify spending that much money.

I plan on keeping my 6s plus for at least another year. Just hope i have the willpower not to buy the 7 lol

"Hey Siri, mute.

That's pretty fast?

Except in the many situations where it's not appropriate or just plain weird to talk to your phone out loud, which actually tend to coincide with situations where you want to mute your phone.

Besides, I've read, and noticed in my own observations, that most people don't feel comfortable talking to Siri or other digital assistants in public.

Now that people lease their phones there's a lot of people who have the option to upgrade every year to the new iPhone. So why would it matter to them if they get an iPhone 7 when they know they can trade it in next year for the Anniversary phone? It just means never being left behind.

There aren't a lot of people who pay off 2 year contracts or pay $700+ every year in order to upgrade.

I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus. I own my phone completely. I am eligible for new phones if I want. I can choose to lease an iPhone 7 until next year. Currently, Apple hasn't revealed the iPhone 7, but I'm not any more excited about it than the 6S. So at this point I am holding off for the Anniversary phone.

It'd be new for me to choose the leasing option because I always pay to own my phones since they are passed on to family members or used as iPods. But it's tempting to do it for the iPhone 7 just because I can. So it just comes down to whenever I decide to add that $35 to my cell phone bill; this year or next.

To summarize: there's a 90% chance of me buying an Anniversary iPhone and a 30% chance of me using an iPhone 7.

So you want to mute your phone, without anyone knowing. Stealth mute. You could like hold it close and whisper to Siri covering your mouth all sneaky and sly.

It used to be when people were talking to themselves we looked at them strangely. Now we accept that they have blu tooth or EarPods on. Actually helped out a lot of mentally ill patients not look so weird anymore walking down street talking to themselves, or their secret friend.

People will get over it being uncomfortable. After all.....

........ Some years back if the government had said we want everyone to alway carry a tracking device regardless of where you go and what you do. We will mandate this by law. And we want to know who you contact, and who contacts you, when and for how long. Most people would have said no way no how.

Today no one can keep their nose out of their tracking device. Walking, driving, eating, dedicating. You name it we do it with a device in hand. I was at airport yesterday. Every single person, I mean everyone was looking at their mobile tracking device. I did a double take, it's utterly amazing.

There's no beating the system. Either you buy a new phone every year and sell your excellent "last year's" model for a hefty sum, or you keep your phone for years till it's worthless in resale and performance...then get a new one. Either way, money-wise, you end up paying about the same over 10 years.

But if you get a new one every year (and sell the previous one), you're way ahead of the game cuz you're always using a nice fast new iPhone. Not some slow kludgy thing with issues.

For a single-person scenario; maybe. I have children who I don't care if they have the latest and greatest phone/iPod. So I continue to pay off my phones within 18-24 months, upgrade and hand down my last phone. This keeps the kids current enough to use apps and play games and it doesn't cost me much, if any, more than if I was to trade in my phone every year.

Currently my cell bill is $35 cheaper than it would be if I was still paying for my phone. No matter what I decide moving forward, this phone is mine to use how I want.

As for performance... I don't care. if an iDevice is at the tail end of support, then people should consider staying on the version prior. The device doesn't get slower. App support grows thin...but lots of apps have decent support for one or two iOS versions back and if not and the app existed on old App Store someone can download and use the old version... Pending the web services it relies on are still active.

Anyway... An iPhone is not useless after a year or two. There are lots of things to use them for whether single but more importantly if you have friends and family and want to save money.

i've gone from the original iPhone > 3GS > 4 > 5 and now 6 so i basically upgrade every year. this may be the year i don't. if the leaks are true and nothing wows me at the keynote, i'll either stick with my 6 or pick up a 6s on swappa.

I don't think the 6s is going to be slow or kludgy for a few years. Maybe the 5s or even 6.

I reckon selling my 6S plus before launch would mean it would cost me about £350 for the 7 plus if prices stay the same.

as somebody who will buy phones sim free from now on and have a sim only deals it isn't a bad deal.

Everyone has different reasons for buying or skipping
Will there be new features .....yes
Do you really need it. ....yes and no
The decision is yours

Let's be real :)

Just about everyone here on this forum will watch the Keynote that Tuesday, live or afterwards, watch highlights of it, decline to purchase it the following Wednesday (too similar to the 6S, the 6 they own still works great, etc), start to think about how great it is on Thursday, and end up pre-ordering it on Friday.

I've seen this pattern on this Forums. The 7 will be sold-out and many on this forum will have it in hand 2 weeks after it's announced.

It's just funny to me reading these posts saying they won't purchase it without yet having seen the actual product's presentation and it's features, just molds and cases.

Especially funny because we all know what's going to end up happening in the end. ;)

Nope. I've made it known with the iPhone 5 and 6 Plus that I couldnt wait to upgrade, months BEFORE that annual keynote you mentioned. 5 cause I wanted LTE, 6 Plus because of the big screen; my first ever iPhone was the 4.

I honestly cant think of anything the 7 supposedly has that I would want.

I keep Siri off. My two year old son has a habit of hitting it when at church also why I wouldn't use Siri there to mute.

Secondly it's more convenient to look at the side of the phone to look at it instead of unlocking and seeing if it is muted.

There is a second leak yesterday that shows the mute switch, so I guess I will see.

Also the new rumor is the iPhone 7 will have a 1960 mah battery, so a step in the right direction.

Apple's making it especially easy to pass on upgrading this year. Even if every rumor came true, there's nothing about the upcoming model that appeals. I've enjoyed each new iPhone since the original, but the thrill is gone. Tired of buggy iOS issues, especially when Apple is capable of far better. I'll let others fatten Apple's bottom line.
Since att doesn't offer 2 year subsidies I am using my iPhone 6 Plus until it craps out. It's too expensive otherwise.

Normally I pick up a new device every year.. either because I purchase it or my work does. This year I decided not to bother unless it contains new screen technology. If it's just more ram, better camera then there really isn't a point for me to purchase it. I can wait till next year and snag the new screen with all those things.. which is what I really want. The current screens are ok, but looking at samsung devices.. they are smoking Apple in overall clarity. As I said before, I will gladly pick up a used iPhone 7 if the price is right.. I'm assuming people will dump them shortly after noting how they can't live without the headphone jack. Not everyone.. but I'm sure a good portion of people will. That's when I'll get it at a decent price.. no preorder or waiting in line this time!

I'll be holding off upgrading my iPhone 6plus along with my other tech items (no Xbox One S, Nikon D5, etc...) cause I'm saving up for my pre-ordered Tesla Model 3.

The GPS on my iPhone 6 is broken. But there is no way I'm buying a 7 if it doesn't have a headphone jack. If I stay with Apple, I'll replace it with a 6s when the 7 is announced and the price goes down.

I was originally in the corner of my 6 Plus is plenty good enough. However through the Apple Upgrade Program you are actually only paying for half the phone so I may consider the upgrade to the 7 through that method.

that you probably wont get for another 5 years.

I am still using iPhone 6 Plus and its still going strong and fast, I am not understanding why people saying its slow or the 6s Plus is slow. I think the iPhone 8 next year will be the phone to wait for! :)

I'm a diehard Apple fan, and I absolutely love my iPhone. However, the iPhone is falling fast behind the technology of its competitors. Samsung has surpassed Apple in quality and features. Apple seems to have dropped the ball with innovation and its software keeps getting more buggy with each release.

Not sure what is going on with Apple, but I wish they would get their act together!
