I'm a diehard Apple fan, and I absolutely love my iPhone. However, the iPhone is falling fast behind the technology of its competitors. Samsung has surpassed Apple in quality and features. Apple seems to have dropped the ball with innovation and its software keeps getting more buggy with each release.

Not sure what is going on with Apple, but I wish they would get their act together!

Having owned the S7 Edge, I can say that Samsung is almost there. But things like random battery drain and lag still exist. Switched back to the 6s Plus. Maybe not as flashy but it's consistent and dependable.

As @mjschabow above said, I need consistency and dependency, with a well thought out implementation plan. They still are the masters at innovation and don't throw hardware around in a mish-mash.

I bought the 6s less than a year ago so I will definitely not be purchasing the 7.

My next purchase will probably be an iPad to replace my Air2

My 6 plus is still perfectly fine for me. Up to the 6/6 plus generation I owned every iPhone. Now I just can't justify paying what Apple charges for the new plus iPhone. I'll likely stay a year behind going forward when I upgrade my phone. Once more Android apps utilize the fingerprint scanner I'll likely look at one of the cheaper flagship phones.

I'm pretty sure I'm skipping this and going with a Samsung Note 7 or maybe give the S7 or Edge a try. I'm keeping my SE though. I'm still a fan of iOS and very eagerly awaiting iOS 10. But I'm planning on trading my 6S Plus for the Note 7 because I think this is a good time to give Android a fair look since the IPhone 7 doesn't look like it's offering anything to tear me away from my SE as my primary iOS phone and texting device.

Also I am waiting to see how things shake out in the aftermath of the removal of the headphone jack. I know I don't feel like going without one for now. I need it for a few accessories I have and don't feel like bothering with adapters.

My launch day 6+ is still in top form. I'll keep it until it dies. With no more AT&T subsidies I can't afford to get a new phone every 2 years.

The entirety of the i7 is under debate as to how the total package might look. Sure battery update, cpu update, etc. When the nda for the 6s was lifted that thing turned out to be a beast of a phone. I'm thinking the same for the i7, but who knows such things. Apple in keeping with it's past, is not letting a lot of information leak.

Let's be real :)

Just about everyone here on this forum will watch the Keynote that Tuesday, live or afterwards, watch highlights of it, decline to purchase it the following Wednesday (too similar to the 6S, the 6 they own still works great, etc), start to think about how great it is on Thursday, and end up pre-ordering it on Friday.

I've seen this pattern on this Forums. The 7 will be sold-out and many on this forum will have it in hand 2 weeks after it's announced.

It's just funny to me reading these posts saying they won't purchase it without yet having seen the actual product's presentation and it's features, just molds and cases.

Especially funny because we all know what's going to end up happening in the end. ;)
We'll ALL buy it! Just like we always do. And sales records will be shattered, ONE MO GAIN.

What we need to be doing is documenting every post we find that says they're not buying it.

And at every turn, we need to bring it back (after they bought it) And we'll show them!

We're going to sit it in their lap. Let's stick their face, right in it.

I'm gonna be on y'all. I'm gonna stay on y'all like white on rice. If y'all end up buying the iPhone 7, I'm not going to let you get away with it.

I'm gonna ride y'all

And if the ip7 is a yawner, you'll never hear the end of it, right?! / smile/

since the 6s was my first smartphone and my next subsidized phone won't be until Oct 2017, it matters not, to me.

But I hope the ip7 is a hit. Keep Samsung and Nexus on their toes. The consumer is the winner here.

I know for a fact that I won't be buying the 7. I'm still using my 5. It still works great and does what I need.

Only way I'll be buying a new phone is if mine breaks. And then at that point I'm open to considering options from all phone makers.

I currently own an iPhone 6 without "S" or "Plus".
Depending on the state of my current battery and the actual hardware specs, I might consider buying one.
Certainly NOT at launch day.

My deciding factor might be: What will the new MacBooks offer that might make the new iPhone special?
I can imagine Apple might limit certain features to the new phones.

Well.. macOS Sierra is already announced with its iOS continuity features. Maybe head on over to the Mac section of this site to catch up.

I can't imagine any hardware you'd be expecting for the MacBook that would relate to needing a new iPhone. curious what features you might think haven't been announced for the new iPhone. Cause there hasn't been a peep of rumor about that I am aware of. Or maybe you're just hopeful?

Apple never announces features that depend on new hardware.
When Apple Pay was introduces there was no trace of it in any iOS beta.

Maybe - and only maybe - there will be a MacBook feature that enables Siri to relay stuff to and from the Mac,
Or maybe there's some Authentication feature that we do not know about because they only wanted to show the Watch Unlock feature.

I think Apple could introduce HomeKit and Siri related stuff that is not yet announced.
What if you could use Siri on your phone and relay the commands to your Mac?
I know it's not really dependend on new hardware, but Apple has limited features to newer models in the past.

Yes ;) I'm hopeful. NFC currently has no use except Apple Pay.

No 7 for me. I buy my iPhones unlocked at Apple. So price upfront is always a consideration for me.

Definitely skipping the 7, no excitement there. The iphone has become just a phone, all the fun is long gone. I'll wait for the 9 since I have a 6s.

I'll just getting a note 5 if the new one is really "edge"... I'm done with Apple, cables always breaking, overpriced as ****, low screen resolution, batterry life is a joke...

Just about everyone here on this forum will watch the Keynote that Tuesday live or afterwards - Yes

Watch highlights of it - Possibly

Decline to purchase it the following Wednesday (too similar to the 6S, the 6 they own still works great, etc) - Yes

Start to think about how great it
is on Thursday - Possibly but then realize I have better things to think about in life and better things to direct my cash towards.

And end up pre-ordering it on Friday -
Absolutely not

Next year will likely be the upgrade year if the iPhone design returns to something truely magical. The magic ended with iPhone 6/6 Plus, and a little less magic bestowed 5/5s/SE.

I don't know if I'm skipping the 7 (or whatever it's called), but I will be giving project fi a try for some upcoming international trips.
