So what are consumers asking for? Or better yet, what are YOU asking for?

Let's not forget all of the internal improvements. New SoC that enables features like the dual and triple cameras to perform even better, Night Mode, telephoto mode... these are all improvements that do not exist in the previous generation phones.

So what are you waiting for that's "innovative"? A phone that sings and dances for you?

I agree that these phones offer improvements over the last phones, but adding another lens, and processor isn't "innovation". What apple did here is basic upgrade they did with Mac pros (trash cans). Pixel 2 still takes better pictures then iPhone Xmax or whatever Max it was. If someone is expected to pay $2000 (Canadian) for a phone then it should be better then any phone in the market. They could have offered touch ID now instead of offering it next year and call it "best iPhone ever", adding another lens is not "innovation", low light feature is something samsung and other phones are offering from last 2 years. Yes, apple changed the market but other companies are catching up or even getting better.

I upgraded 3 years in a row but did not feel there was much change. I am going to give it a pass this time around. I will stick with my Xsmax. I am happy to wait for real innovation. Total waste of money to sell my current phone at a discount and buy a full priced new one.

Here's the best 30 sec summary (via zerohedge)
  • Cameras, cameras, cameras: big camera updates coming the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro lines.
  • Pricing: The iPhone 11 is $50 cheaper than the iPhone XR, coming in at $700. The iPhone 11 Pro prices are the same $1,000 and $1,100 as the iPhone XS and XS Max.
  • The big Apple Watch updates came last year. The new models look the same, but have always-on screens.
  • The iPad isn't going to move the needle -- a slightly bigger screen, but not much else.
  • $4.99 is Apple's new services price: TV+ and Apple Arcade could be worthwhile.

what r costumers asking bro? I wanted more camera sensors in front cam 2 take better selfies and bigger speakers. Also an illuminated logo would be a plus. What else u wanna c 2day?

for the price they are selling the phones for, customers should ask for a lot more then lens and upgraded sensor. What apple has offered today is already available in other phones. Before you say, if I have a issue then I should switch, I'll when I will need a new phone. When you buy something you just don't go buy without shopping around, unless you are a sheep. When you look at what other phones are offering today, then this phone is probably going to sit at end of the line.

Apple said stylus is for idiots , they introduced "pencil"
apple said samsung has lost it's mind when they introduced their Note phone, and also said something along the lines that bigger screens don't make sense. Today "biggest iPhone ever"
Apple & It's sheeps laughed when Samsung released their watch with cellular feature (you could make calls) 2-3 years later apple introduced cellular watch
now apple sheeps are saying they don't need touch Id but wait for next upgrade when apple will bring touch Id and then it will become the "best phone ever"

So clearly apple has always been lazy and behind because it managed to make itself a status symbol people will continue to buy their products.

come on now lets be honest. iPhone has been so powerful I am sure if they really want to enable previous few generations phones to do what you just mentioned. they can , but they won't , just like the night mode
also the limitation of the iOS. all these power goes to waste

and at the moment, not even talking about innovations or new features, but same features as other competitors.

I been using iPhone since 3gs and have every year. my phone shattered when I drop it ( another feature they can easily fix by using a stronger materials and won't cost them that much , but again they won't). so I decided to get an android for now as they are cheaper and was waiting for new iPhone 11. I got to say. I may start slowly transition out of apple ecosystem.

and I don't understand why there are ppl like you who mock ppl opinion and defend a company who clearly dont care about you but money

All the tech aside. Tim Cook stated in January he’d be seeking to protect against currency swings and create price parity around the world. Then he ****ed the U.K. again. Not only did we not get an adjustment down. The phones are more expensive in gbp than dollars. That $699 iPhone is £749 here. Despite the pound being worth more than a single dollar. It’s $230 more to buy a base model iPhone in be up and it goes up to $300+

This is on the heels of an abysmal performance for the iPhone in the U.K. whomever decided he pricing strategy was out of their god damn mind.

at least the new phone will take good half naked selfie !!

It's always interesting to see comments after Apple released a phone.

It's staggering to see comments such as "When will Apple bring to their phones what people wants?"...

Seems like everyone tend to forget that the smallest incrementation / implementation of software - hardware in their ecosystem is backup by multiple focus group / customer surveys etc... They will bring in almost for sure what those surveys are telling them as long as it fit the product and DNA of the brand.

Touch screen id replacing Face ID ? I hope they never do this, having to touch the phone to unlock it is a thing from the past. Innovation will now be Face ID working perfectly at a longer distance and on flat surface with 99.9% success rate. Most likely in 2020.

Also I am wondering if anyone here is really running severals phone at the same time. I have the latest Pixel + iPhone XS Max both in my pocket on a daily basis and a Huawei P30 on the desk during working hours.

The iPhone outperform those phone on my daily usage due to the ecosystem. Using the pixel and Huawei is a pain as I need third party app everywhere to manage my notes / read books / watch movies while commuting etc... then it wouldn't sync on my Mac or Surface... It's staggering that in 2020 they didn't find a way to have a proper handoff between Android + Windows (phone call - sms - contacts - notes).

Anyway this to say that so far I cant find a better alternative than MacOS + iPhone for work efficiency and ease of use. I don't see how any other phone outperform (owning the two supposedly best phone in the market) the iPhone Max.

One word...underwhelming!
Underwhelming is right!

Oh wow the watch doesn’t really go to sleep...like every other watch in history. If I see a noninvasive glucose meter I will kiss Tim Cook on the mouth and proclaim him a god. THAT would be innovation! What we got was nice incremental improvements, that’s it.

Not even an Apple TV

wanna c it bro?

This  event doesn’t deserve to be called “by innovation only” because it’s absolutely trash that planned by idiots.

Basically 3 types of people here. 1. Those who will never be happy with iPhones and troll forums. 2. Those who have iPhones who claim the new ones will never live up to the ones they have (talking to you SE and Touch ID people). 3. Those who like to upgrade even if they don’t redesign the entire phone within a year and change everything.

Laughing at the comments saying there was no innovation, and when asked what they thought would be “innovative” nobody can come up with an answer.

Instead we get “SE sized smaller phone”, “remove camera bump” or “USB-C”.

It’s telling that with all the people complaining about lack of innovation, not one person can actually name something that would be innovative. They’re just repeating existing features/technology. And if Apple DID add these features, instead of calling it “innovation” they’d be accusing Apple of “copying” or saying things like “Samsung already has this”.

I’m still waiting for someone to list a feature Apple could have added that would be “innovative”.

Zero innovation and it could get even worse with those idiots.

PS.: 1 year of appletv+ with the purchase of some new Apple devices is HUGE.

Not really. It will only have a dozen shows, so it's worth hardly more than $2.5 per month. Selling it at $5 is rip off, and giving it for free for a year is the least they can do, plus people might forget about it and start paying for a service they wouldn't otherwise have paid for. Not considering that probably you only need 2-3 months to watch everything is on it…

Looking through these comments, it is clear and present that Apple isn't the issue, it's the community.

This is by far the dumbest comment on this thread. It literally lowered my IQ.

Apple TV+ is only $4.99 because it's absolute rubbish content.

Obviously they need it this low to compete with Netflix, which it does not stand a chance and it's why they're offering a FREE YEAR with new device purchases to desperately gain market share.

Same thing with the Apple Music free 3 month trial to compete with Spotify, which is of course still dominating.

I wasn’t expecting very much but I like that they are hearing consumers complaints about prices. Good to see a wider price range. I also liked that Apple+ is only $5. I also thought it was very cool of them to add a free year for people who buy new products.
They haven’t listened at all. Here in the UK the iPhone 11 reduced by £50 but that cost was passed onto the iPhone Pro consumers because those prices INCREASED by £50. Absolute shambles. Sales need a 20 million dip to kick them back into touch. Their products no longer warranty the Apple tax.

For an update that almost entirely hinges on the new cameras, it’s mind boggling that it will not launch with either the “Fusion” photo processing or the update to Filmic Pro to allow multi cam filming.

These are the actual “innovative” uses of the new cameras but both are future software upgrades.

The “Fusion” processing sounds intriguing but Apple did a terrible job presenting it by showing one boring photo of a guy with no before/after. How can we tell what is new Fusion processing and what is the new sensors/lenses? The photo looked sharp for sure, but so did all of the other new photos they showed. I’d love to see real tests of this once the phone is in the wild, but Fusion won’t be available at launch. That makes me worry that there could end up being stitching/ghosting/or other artifacts once it does release, just as portrait mode isn’t perfect.

It’s even more mind boggling that the Filmic Pro multicam filming isn’t a stock app feature. If 3 lenses is the best you can do for the hardware, then buy the Filmic Pro company to properly utilize it out of the box. Or maybe innovate the software yourself.

Or don’t dedicate 1/5 of your iPhone Pro reveal to one undated future third-party app update that costs $15 before in-app purchases.

At the VERY least, seeing what Filmic will be able to do, it is crazy that you can’t shoot basic picture in picture with the stock app. As in, a way to quickly film your surroundings with the main camera with a small selfie box from the front camera in the corner for you to narrate.

There were indeed improvements to the iPhones, but not enough for me to upgrade from XR. The battery life thing would be at the top of the list, but again not enough for me to buy.

Original version or v5, I still can't justify buying a watch.

The next thing that will move the needle for me will be an iPad being able to replace my Mac. Seems like it's been "only a couple of years away" for about four years now.
