Just imagine the spot will they run in 6 months when the iPhone 5 comes out with dual core processor and LTE.

"This is the moment you've waited for -- your new VZW iPhone 4 is obsolete and you now have only 75% of your contract yet to run."

Quiet you! :D

"To our millions of customers....remember....you need to buy 2 iPhones in order to get full functionality and speed". :D

I'm proud to say that I'm one of those people that have been staring at a clock for over 4 years waiting too. The video gave me goosebumps. Great ad.....now hurry up with the pre-order day already!

Scaning MacRumors, 9to5Mac, Engadget, BGR, Tipb, etc....looking for stories, leads, images for the mystical VeriPhone.

All my family and friends are gonna celebrate with a "Doug is finally gonna shut up about the Verizon iPhone" party.

Call me pathetic and I'll kindly say thank you. The iPod Touch has done a awesome job at keeping me sane all this time.

I can hardly wait to get it so I can finally fit in and be cool.....:apple:

Thank you Apple!

Thank you Verizon!

Great ad, they are getting the word out to their customers that don't spend all day on the internet like the rest of us that iPhone is coming to Verizon and what day it will launch.

If you think that people should wait because new and better products are going to be released in the future, they would be waiting forever. There's ALWAYS something better coming up. Why buy an iPhone 5, when iPhone 6 is going to be released just one year later?

And when should people stop buying iPhones? I mean, you think that buying iPhone 4 now i stupid, since iPhone 5 is only 6 months away, right? Where do you draw the line? is it OK to buy an iPhone 1 month after release? 2 months? 3 months? 4 months? 5 month? 6 months is obviously too late, so where do you draw the line?

And "obsolete", really?!?! The iPhone 4 is a fine phone, and it will be a fine phone even after iPhone 5 is released. You do not need to have the latest and greatest phone all the time.

Hell, my MacBook pro is from 2007, it's over 3.5 years old. Yeah, it's old, and it's far from being the newest model available. So is it "obsolete"? Hell no!

clever product placement

It probably doesn't mean much, but check out what shows up around 5/6 seconds into the vid. I love finding little things like that - makes me smile. :D

That's odd that Verizon is able to advertise the iPhone, when AT&T never was.

I don't think it's all that surprising.
Not if you consider that, in all likelihood, (even with the 3 or so other nations with CDMA networks) the CDMA version will probably not be exported.
So the hardware will probably be primarily a Verizon network phone.

And NOW, THE MOMENT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR... unless of course you live in a country where phones aren't locked, and you've been given the choice of switching carriers with your iPhone all along.

Sometimes the US is just... sad.

Sometimes close minded, bigoted and self-righteous foreigner's lack of knowledge of the difference between CDMA and GSM (and how unlocking a phone won't change the hardware to allow it to work on a network with different protocols), is just... sad.

There, I fixed that for you.
You're welcome! ^_^

Nice Ad...

not switching, because I went to AT&T to get away from Verizon. Hate them, and around here, AT&T is much more reliable. But the ad was cute. Now to go back and see what I missed 5/6 of the way through.

i guess ill be the one to say it - that was retarded.

I am an apple fan. Not an ATT nor Verizon fan. In my opinion they are all sub par in the US.

But this commercial just doesnt really say anything. I have an iphone on ATT and this commercial did not make me think twice about my network. My mom on wants a smartphone but this commercial doesnt make it seem like she should get an iphone either.

Its a nothing ad.

I can't disagree with you more. This add says thanks to our customers (and those others) that have waited for this phone on our network.

I really can't see how you would miss that.

I think this speaks to the whole Verizon play here. Verizon has superior customer service to ATT and they apparently care about their customers. Verizon extended the phone first to their existing customers. Did ATT do that? No! If anything, ATT would have made the phone available for NEW customers (sorry, you're not eligible for an upgrade now) first just to get new customers knowing that the existing customers are "locked in" to contracts. I'm not saying Verizon is perfect in customer service, but compared to ATT, well even crappy customer service looks GREAT!

Please stay with ATT. You and them think so much alike its scary.

I think

I wonder if Verizon will air any of the commercials before the "magical" announcement that trashed and mocked iPhone.

Quick cut past an Apple Keyboard and Magic Mouse was a nice touch.

I think it's a great ad. AT&T will be the first to run negative ads, I'm sure.

Oh yes, ATT will go ugly early in this. How ugly and early depends on how many people sign up for the Verizon iPhone.

ATT has already stated they're not too concerned about this because contracts and family plans make it difficult for people to switch. We'll see if this is true. Hopefully this will result in better pricing and service for every iPhone user.

Funny how they used clocks in the commercial. Didn't the iPhone have an issue with the clock which made people, including myself, late to work.

That was my first thought, too! Wonder if they decided on that approach for the commercial before the New Year's alarm bug happened, or they just figured most people forgot by now.

I enjoyed it. Mainly because I am one of those people staring at the clock. And to think, I almost waited to use my upgrade on my Blackberry Pearl in August of 2009, just in case the iPhone were coming out soon...

My guess is that the iPhone was originally going to be released on Verizon in 2009; the Verizon iPhone's clock is just two years off so it thinks it's 2009 now. :D

But seriously, congrats to Verizon customers out there on finally getting the iPhone in February.

actually - its a pretty cute comercial - my first smile of the day
also reminded me of aapl recent alrm clock bug at the beginning of the year

That was awesome! Now with AT&T and Verizon carrying iPhones, it will be interesting to see how crappy Android plans to keep up. I'll never forget my moment at the airport and the guy in front of me couldn't get his electronic boarding pass to scan from his Android. He was holding up a very long line of business travelers and I was right behind him. No longer able to put up with his incompetent phone, I reached over his arm and placed my iPhone on the reader. The reader beeped instantly and he just gave me a blank stare as he had to exit the line to go print his boarding pass. I am pretty sure he wished he had an iPhone - LOL

If you mean foreigners', the plural possessive of "foreigners", lack of knowledge, I couldn't tell you. I'm not a foreigner, I'm a US citizen. And I'm well aware of CDMA and GSM incompatibility, thanks.

If you could untwist your panties and actually read what I wrote, I said nothing about GSM vis-à-vis CDMA, only that iPhones purchased in the US come carrier-locked, meaning that if you wanted to switch your service provider from AT&T to, say, T-Mobile, or go with a prepaid plan, you can't without SIM-unlocking the phone. Which is a violation of consumers' rights in some other countries.

Or, to put it another way, let's say your utility company puts a device on your furnace, or gas/electric meter, etc., that prevents you from switching to a cheaper company that might offer better service. Would that go down well with you? Because that's essentially what US telecoms get way with.

Is that clear?

That's odd that Verizon is able to advertise the iPhone, when AT&T never was.

that was when there was only ONE carrier...it would look bad if Apple made verizon's iPhone commercial...it would alienate AT&T customers...and probably confuse the general public (those that don't read forums and would assume Verizon was the new exclusive carrier)...we'll see AT&T iPhone commercials soon, touting the voice & data and overall faster speeds etc.
