I ordered an 8g non engraved model. Mine shipped this morning. The Apple tracking Widget is showing:

LEFT ORIGIN KUNSHAN CN and there is no arrival date yet in the Fedex tracking tool.

Just as an FYI to everyone....

My order info is:

Order Number: W3082xxxx
Order Date: Sep 5, 2007 at 12:39 PM PDT

The serial number from the invoice is:

9C7382xxx

Which seems to indicated week 38 if these two numbers in the serial number really refer to the production week. I know some people on this forum are all jazzed about the screen problems etc. Looks like Canadian orders missed the week 36, 37 issues and are are ok. As an FYI, I'm in Toronto.

I am in Oakville, ON and my order shipped as well!

I can confirm the Serial No. 9C738xxxxxx Week 38!

I am sooo glad, I was pretty worried about getting a bad screen :)

How did you figure out your iPod's Serial No? My Touch shipped early this morning and I don't see the Serial No. anywhere in my e-mail.

Jeepers!!!! Mine has shipped as well with a week 38 serial!!!

I will finally have it here in Toronto this Wednesday!!!

Canadians, good things come to those who wait. :D

Go to your order on the website and click 'print all invoices'. It will be there under the iPod Touch line.

Mine is 9C738xxxxxx.

That's presumably the batch w/ the bad screens but you could still be lucky. Mine just shipped this morning and my serial # is 1A738XXXXXX.

Of all the bad luck

I guess I'll hope I'm one of the lucky ones, who gets a good "37" Touch.

Shipped yesterday

My touch 16GB was shipped yesterday; it was ordered on the 7th; I do not expect it until te 27th, thought. However, my serial number has a number 38 in it; so I am keeping my fingers crossed regading the horror stories I heard regaridng batch 37.

There is no such thing as "batch 37". It is "Week 37".

From other threads, it appears that:
1) all units built in Week 38 are okay, and
2) some of the Week 37 units have the display problem.

So what happened is that sometime during Week 37, the manufacturing people identified and rectified the problem. It is not as if they waited until the beginning of Week 38 to apply the fix. As soon as they came up with the solution, they applied it immediately (sometime during Week 37).

So, any Week 37 units shipped would not be "early Week 37" models with the display problem.

Awesome, Apple shipped me a week 38 iPod also, with the serial number of 1B738xxxxx. However, I am unable to access my package at the moment, as Fedex is "unable to process your tracking request". It looks as if they shipped the quicker way, as it is expected to arrive on the 25th, although I did not pay more for shipping :)

Is anyone else not able to track their shipment? I know this may be since it is not ready to track yet, but I was able to see that it departed from Kunshan this morning.

Thanks

I ordered mine on the 12th and still no progress. Just saw someone posting that they ordered theirs on the 21st and the next day it changed to "prepared for shipping" grrrr lucky americans! I bet what will happen is mine will switch to "prepared for shipping" on the same day as Touches begin to materialize in BestBuy stores here. I will flip if that happens :(

BTW why are they shipping all these things directly from China? (and I use the word "shipping" loosely)

BTW if they are coming to NA via Alaska, shouldn't it be quicker to ship to Canada than the USA? lol

they are all shipping from China. That's where the ipods are made.

Then to Alaska, and perhaps to Indiapolis then to ontario then to your destination.

I THINK. I think they take those routes because they are the central distribution hubs?

Alaska then on to Memphis, mines been there since this morning.

Yeah, a typical package will make it's way from it's origin, then often to the sorting facility in Anchorage, Alaska if it is North america bound, then it will make it's way to Memphis, which if I remember correctly is called the "Fedex World Hub". From here it makes it's way to it's destination.

This is becoming really frustrating for me. I cant believe people who ordered a day or two ago are getting their shipping notices, while i ordered on the 14th, and have recieved nothing....this is complete BS

Ive called Apple multiple times, and i always hear the same thing, that as far as they know, they are sending them out on the 28th, and they dont know anything otherwise....

Apple really dropped it on their online ordering...I dont think i will ever order something online from Apple..

Although I am peeved, this is hardly the first time apple has done this. I pre-ordered a first gen Shuffle, then canceled, then ended up buying a Creative player instead (tired of waiting), then pre-ordered a 1st gen Nano, gave up on that and bought one in store.

I think Apple thinks the people who pre-ordered are "on the hook" so they really don't care whether or not they make them happy. They figure the ones they need to please are the people who are likely to change their minds.

If it weren't for the bad screens in some of the earlier models (and apparently some newer ones) I would have bought one on Ebay and paid an extra few bucks so I could have what I ordered 2 weeks ago, or I would have got a friend from the states to get me one.

The fact that Apple reps are sticking to their scripts is very annoying and frustrating. I've called 3 times and got the same almost pre-recorded "they dont ship til the 28th" response.

Hey at least there's one benefit: if it had shipped out last week, the Touch would have come up on my current CC bill, but now I will have an extra month before having to pay for it lol.

So my 8g iTouch went yesterday from Kunshan to Shanghai in China before departing for Anchorage. It left Anchorage last night and ended up in Memphis, TN this morning. It left Memphis this morning at 11:30 am EST and is in transit. Today is Sunday and it still shows 26 Sept (Wed) for delivery date. In the past, whenever my Apple orders have left Memphis, they generally arrive the next day. As an example, here is an example from my last iPhoto order. Leaves Memphis at midnight....delivered the next day.

On FedEx vehicle for delivery DON MILLS, ON 8:32 AM
At local FedEx facility DON MILLS, ON 7:32 AM
Int'l shipment release MISSISSAUGA, ON 7:32 AM
Int'l shipment release MISSISSAUGA, ON 7:21 AM
At dest sort facility MISSISSAUGA, ON 4:45 AM
Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN 1:09 AM
Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN

I wonder if it will show up tomorrow. That would be cool. Fedex really sets the standard for delivery. If you think about it....going from the manufacturing plant in China to my house in Toronto in a couple of days is quite impressive.
