I've always disliked commercial actors who later turn on the company they advertised (another example being the "can you hear me now?" guy). Absent a truly compelling reason (other than just getting paid by a competitor), this practice seems like a low blow. Perhaps Long needed this particular paycheck to feed his family, but I can't help but think he could have gotten other work instead.
He is an actor...he is pretending for money. Seems he is pretty good at it as he has you convinced he likes PC more than Mac and has changed allegiances.

LOL........ 🤣

meanwhile Intel is getting spanked by both Apple, and AMD in terms of performance.

give it up Intel, your days are done. Just sell your chip business to Apple.

also, there’s a reason Apple never made a touch screen Mac and they will never will to protect Steve Job’s legacy:
What about the Apple Pencil?

Couldn’t have phrased any of that better myself. People who think they’re doing actual gaming on those kinds of computers are out in the weeds and don’t know what they’re missing
Seriously disagree. Not everyone needs 8k gaming. My GRX 1080 is still fine for new titles in 1080p.

Really not sure what “actual gaming” means to people here. I still play my PS3 which is less performing than my Macs and Windows PCs.

I have a work laptop that does have a touch screen. Guess how many times I have used said touch screen, 0. Steve was right then, and even in his grave, he is right today.

Personal computer based touch wants to be horizontal, not vertical.

For Enterprise IT, you will spend a lot of time remoting into a virtual server infrastructure anyway - so I don't really see an issue.

Otherwise, yes non-Apple Development has been a problem.

Building and development on the local system is what the teams I've been working with are doing... before checking in and letting build systems do the rest of the CI/CD-process.

Gaming snobs.
It doesn't matter what game you play, on what platform you play it, or what it's hardware requirements are. You're a gamer. Play what you enjoy on whatever you want to play it on.
It's only been somewhat recently you have to play at 60fps or your not a "real" gamer. Stupid.

I play on my phone. I've played games on my macs. I've played games in browsers. I've played game streaming. I've built gaming pc's for decades. Hell I've even gamed on the original pong console back in the day. An Atari for years. A tandy. Old packard bell. Now I mostly play on my series X and haven't played a game on my PC in ages, despite the fact I've saved plenty to build a new one with whatever hardware I want.
"actual" games are just games.

Regardless of how desperate Intel might be, some claims are actually true.
I doubt Intel processor might be faster than M1. But is true that PCs have more connectivity (more ports), many have touchscreen which is great for many applications.
Macbooks development were negligently denied for 4-5 years since 2016. You can see that in the keyboard and how pathetically Apple tried to fix it over 4 years. Hopefully now they will catch up.
No they don’t. Not all of them. My surface pro would like a word. It’s not 4 ports like my MacBook Pro

So NOT true. Apple handled no hardware. They only talked about Mac benefits. And I just love that you had to dig up Apples ad from well over 10 years ago to make your non-point. Try again. 😂

Lol, you try to be clever and it backfires. Way to go ;).

This WHOLE DISCUSSION is about Intel copying Apple's ads from 10 years ago. Jesus.

Ugh...that seems desperate on both Justin & Intel's part.

EDIT: I get that he's just making a living; so are the folks at Intel.

My point with Justin's flip-flopping is that seems desperate (like when the Verizon spokesperson moved to Sprint; it is hard to tell if the move is genuine in those scenarios.). I have nothing against Justin Long - may he have a long and flourishing career!!!
The guy needs to feed his family. He’s getting paid. I’d do it. You would do it. Everyone here would do this if they were in his position, which is a C level actor who doesn’t have a steady stream of income so people here criticizing him need to chill out. He’s not robbing banks or selling drugs. He’s working an honest living. Nothig wrong with that. And the click bait article title by macrumors is lame.

I know everyone is focusing on how powerful the M1 CPU is, and that is true. But the reality is that you do need a combo of dongles to do the job. Anyway at the end of the day , I hope the user should be able to choose whatever fits their needs. I have no problem with Intel nor Mac , as always both company want your money. It's up to you, the user to decide.
Why do people keep bringing this up? Hook a mouse and two external hard drives on most PCs and it requires a dongle - more specific a USB hub. Not the case with the Apple laptops as I can just get the USB-C cables for the external drives

1080p gaming is hideous no thank you

Check it out. The mac in the ad is no mac that actually exists.
Look at the bezels

He’s an actor who collects a check after reading a script. I hope you’re kidding
I know right. He’s working. Jeeeez. I guarantee he has an iPhone and a MacBook. He’s just working to provide for himself. Everyone here would do work for their family even if it entails participating in a commercial against the apple.

For everyone wondering why they were highlighting non-CPU items, what devices, aside from servers, do you think will have Intel CPUs a year or two from now? Windows. To the rank and file there is nothing sexy about "Intel inside". A 2-in-1 is pretty cool, and an extra screen in the keyboard! Oooh, pretty, where do I get one of those??? All of those are Windows systems, which will continue to be built on a lot of Intel chips for a long time. At least, until Microsoft and Broadcom crack the Arm64 code. Think, the next couple generations of Surface Pro X's.

Intel has to milk the Windows angle to stave off the most immediate threat from Apple. Also buys Intel some time to do their own Arm64 thing. Intel could live on the server market but that would be a very different Intel. And then you have the Ampere's starting to make inroads there as well.

Where I think they've gone wrong is the approach they're taking. This and the other ad campaigns have reeked of desperation. They don't have to take that approach while they're boosting Windows and the hardware OEMs. As someone else mentioned, simply talking about what you can do with Windows and implying that you can't do that on a Mac would be better than this hot mess. "hey, cool games you're playing on that Intel laptop", Justin glances wantonly at the Mac, then asks if he can have a seat and play a game. Maybe even winks at the camera. Reminds everyone of everything they already know without beating you over the head with it.

I am a Mac user and love the seamless integration of software and hardware, but it is absolutely true that a 2-1 laptop could be a lot more useful for day-to-day use and maybe an iPad for just browsing and less intensive work. For that reason, I believe this ad is spot on in terms of Mac versus PC, but is says nothing about intel versus Apple new chip!
What do you people need a 2 in 1 for that the iPad Pro with keyboard and trackpad can’t? You said day-to-day use, so iOS apps should cover everything you need.

You're doing exactly what your complaining about; my PC can connect to hard drives with USB-C [and A]...and does anyone "hook" up a mouse these days?
