as someone who went from a 7 to an 8+ (that i had planned on giving the wife when i tested out the X to see if i like it or not) I honestly have to say that the X is a AWESOME phone but I literally felt like it was just a slightly -longer?- regular 7. Its nice but there is something about having a wider screen that makes the user experience that much easier/better for me.

Nothing wrong with that also. I personally haven't experienced the issues people are describing. I suppose I've been extremely lucky with Apple devices (never had antenna issues either). Either way, the current design/software will only get better.

Oh and I forgot OLED Burn in.

It's always amazing to see people actually spend the effort to explain to complete strangers on the internet as to why they don't buy a product. It's almost as if they need some endorsement from complete strangers for their purchase of a phone with previous design, and actually needs to give themselves the reason not to buy the X.

Spoiler: you don't need to do that. Enjoy your phone.

Or their need to defend their purchase to others that have different needs, wants or a difference of opinion. :D

They're going back because of money. They figured that they can't afford it or would rather spend that money elsewhere. The percentage of iPhone users that would prefer a + over an X (when money is NOT a factor), is so small it might as well be non-existent. They likely had a + phone from before, didn't feel the other new features are worth the price tag, they go back to the old phone and put $1000 back in their pocket. Simple as that.

According to what or who?
Your wild guesses on how millions of iPhone users preferences out there?:D lol

Using a tech in a way it is not supposed to be used, does not make the tech worse than Touch ID. I could complain that Touch ID doesn't work with wet fingers, or it doesn't work if I don't position my enrolled finger correctly on the little circle. Face ID not working when the camera can't get a good view of you, is not a valid complaint. Touch ID doesn't work if I can't reach my phone to touch it, or if I hold my finger sideways on the circle.

You're posting fake news again.
You dont need to have your full finger correctly on the circle. It will unlock and recognise partial finger scanned and even just the edges of your finger.
Also touch ID does work sideways and upside down unlike Face ID ;)

I see. You might be right. Lol

If you actually read my post. I stated that you have choices for whatever device you like. I never mentioned money or class. You are mistaken. The future is the X. There is no going back. Enjoy chins and bezels now. All phone manufacturers will copy Apple.

I dont think you get it.
The manufacturers do not decide what we like, buy or use.
The customer decides with their wallet what goes forward or is the future or comes back and what gets scrapped and fails.
But there's obviously some people that the manufacturer "Apple" tells them what to buy and what is "amazing" and they blindly abide and hand them a grand each year :D

Yep. About 12 million.

Keep waiting for the $300 Flagship Device. Let me know when you have it.

Purchase what you want. Some like the iPhone X and some don't. I'm not sure why there has to be everyone forcing their opinion on others about what's better or not. Only the user decides what's better iPhone with their own money.

No one is stupid enough to talk in absolutes, but I think this is about as black and white as it could be without being able to poll every single iphone user. In all areas where iPhone X and 4.7" iPhone 8 differ, the X beats the 8 in every conceivable way. If they both cost the same and only those 2 options were available, the number of people who pick the 8 would be negligible.

Well I would...

It's common sense...
If the 8 and the X are the same price, here are the reasons to choose the 8 over the X:

- Correct aspect ratio when watching videos.
- No notch.
- No FaceID (the main reason I don't want an X).
- The same user experience across all their current devices (i.e. not doing gestures on one thing and different on an iPad, for example).
- Tried and tested screen, which to many people is far more comfortable to use (see the complaints of headaches when you using the OLED on the X).
- They're basically the same phone internally... negligible power increases and camera increases wouldn't make a lot of people switch.

You can count pretty much everyone I know in the "negligible" category. We've talked extensively about it in our offices over the last two months and pretty much everyone is in agreement that the X is a beta phone that is full of gimmicks, with a very questionable design / use of technology.

So no, I'm afraid you're wrong.

You're using the opinion of your office as some sort of justification, price will always subconsciously be in your mind when comparing the devices. I've owned all 3 phones, and after using the X for almost 2 weeks now it is miles away better than the previous generation iPhone. You won't understand until you actually use the device everyday. A lot of its benefits come through with consistent use.

FYI, i think your above points are really miniscule. Notch is not bothersome, aspect ratio is fine, when you get used to the gestures you'll simply wish your other devices had it, and the OLED screen is just better in every way. You also mention 'switching'. When someone already has an 8, that's a completely different discussion.

You keep trying to justify that purchase to yourself mate.

The aspect ratio is not fine at all... for video, it's ****.

The OLED screen is in no way "better". It's got better contrast sure, but it's already proven to have loads of issues, including the most concerning by which it is giving a lot of people headaches.

For what it's worth, my brother bought the X and had it for 5 or 6 days before returning it. I had chance in that time to play around with it for a few hours in total, and I wasn't impressed at all. Neither was he, hence why he went back to his 7+.

I don't need to justify my purchase, the cost of the X is a drop in the bucket to me. I bought it because it's better than anything else that was available from Apple. People getting headaches is pretty laughable, i bet they're looking at their phone too much with the screen too bright.

Why are you so emotional? I'm starting to think all of these anti X threads/posts are severe coping mechanisms for some people. You should be happy that you don't like the phone enough to spend $1,000, that should be a win for you. What's really going on is that you are trying to justify to everyone that the 8 is on the same level or even above the X (a premise which is laughable).

Firstly, I don't have the 8. I have a 7+ that I'm very happy with and should last me another 3 years easily.

Secondly, the headaches people are complaining of are because of the OLED screen's use of PWM. It's a well documented problem with many OLED phones.

Thirdly, the X is also very affordable to me (although I'm not sure I'd brag about it on a forum to make myself feel better). I just question why people have been so taken in by Apple's marketing on what is essentially a beta product.

Why have people been taken in by marketing? Successful marketing is convincing people to buy something they don't need. Apple is essentially a tech company mixed in with a marketing company. They use the beauty of design and market it in a way to make people feel that they need it. All of the factors that you mentioned won't be much of a factor to someone whose fallen victim to the marketing wave. Count yourself as fortunate in that you weren't swayed by their marketing techniques.
