OLED advantages could be seen in black levels mainly in low light when the higher contrast ratio would be evident. Also, the battery life improvements when using the phone in dark mode which turns off pixels not being used.

60Hz > 120Hz is a display “performance” enhancement and quantifiable. You could say it is subjective in terms of whether users notice it or not but anyone can see this clearly if recording both a 12 PM and 13 PM with a high speed camera and comparing the frame rates.

I understand the difference with OLED but it wasn’t as massive as so many enthusiasts here bragged about in my experience. I’ve got an iPhone 12 and an iPhone 11 for work and the difference when using them is barely noticeable for me. It wouldn’t bother me which I had, yet for years it was almost a bragging right on tech forums. I was happily unsurprised when I got the 12.

There will be a difference with both types of technology without doubt and it’s only beneficial to the user if they see a difference and some do and some don’t.

Well apparently there is a little bit of something going on with iPhone 120hz, could be a bug…

iPhone 13 Pro's 120Hz display limits some third-party app animations to 60Hz

This is old news. Apple has already responded to that. They are not limiting anything but for certain app specific animations the 3rd party apps need to be updated.

Something’s wrong with your eyes lol. I can tell a huge difference, even as I’ve been using an iPad Pro for a couple of years. What a difference it’s making on the phone. Everything is smoother, all the transitions seem faster and it’s easier to read text while scrolling. My eyes are welcoming this addition!
Nothing wrong with his eyes. Depending on the user, some people will notice it and some will not. On my S21 i dont notice it that much, at all. This thread is funny, as 120hz has been out for almost three years and people are amazed. 😂 Its really not a big deal. I turned it off to save battery life. It does eat up the battery quite a bit on my S21, hopefully apple implemented a better algorithm to cope with the battery drain.

Yes was just made aware of Apple’s response in another forum, glad to hear they have a plan around this. Still early days I guess.

Apple never tries to be first with new tech obviously; that is Samsung’s strategy. I think many people so far are impressed not because Apple finally has 120Hz in their display, but how well it is implemented with the minimal impact to battery life based on usage tests collected thus far.

I never understood whats the big buzz around promotion. I turned this off on my iPad pro because I didn't really see the difference or benefits so I save a little battery life I guess.

If you listening all the youtubers they praise it like a revolutionary thing. They over exaggerated as usual.

Awesome, fixed that for you! :D

It’s not as good as the iPad, this update is a disappointment the displays are darker and notch is bigger as it’s taller the width doesn’t matter it looks bigger now
I don’t think it’s as good as the iPad Pro which runs steady at 120hz. The new chips in the 13 ProMAX and the OLED display allow Apple to run the 13 ProMAX 120hz display in real-time at 10hz to 120hz and anywhere in between on the fly. And even with fast scrolling I’m guessing it stays at 90hz

Don’t worry Apple’s next update will intentionally reduce 60Hz performance so that you’ll be able to tell it apart better from 120Hz. The naughty Koreans did that one. Point being, 60Hz on iOS is beautiful already.

If you can’t notice it I would say give specksavers a call lol. Same as those that say no diff from lcd to oled. doh.

I am amazed. I hate using Samsung products so for me, even though I’ve been using an iPad Pro with ProMotion for a few years, having it on a phone that I use so much throughout the day, it make a noticeable improvement. And it does seem like Apple implemented it significantly better than the competition, because battery life is killer so far.

The notch looks smaller to me even with its teeny tiny extra height thats about two pixels, and the screen is much brighter than the 12 Pro and its not p*ss yellow. Pro motion is going to be allowed on apps which it isn't right now. When I scroll though my music collection boy is it smooth and fast, I think once apps have access people will notice it more. Hell if you dont like it send it back.

Seems like the ones who purchased the iPhone pro 13 and stating that it feels smoother or twice as smoother are doing so for their own peace of mind. I know it helps you feel better about your purchase. That's ashame. (P.S. if you are coming from anything less than a iPhone 11, you will think this way and it's true for you; it will feel at the least smoother).

Or perhaps the ones stuck with PovertyMotion screens, saying that there's no difference, are trying to make themselves feel better for not buying these phones 😉

I have more tech than most and can buy any iPhone whenever I please so no that's not the case. I can't even fully list my devices in my sig because I'm a techy so your point is invalid.

Just watched this video on YouTube and then saw this thread. Lol

Looks like iphone 13 pm 120hz is more likely a 90hz, lol
Animations on apps are just limited to 60hz. Scrolling can still go as far as 120hz but you need to do it really fast.

android phones tend to be locked to 120hz and stay faster than this for most part.

I turned mine off as well with my iPhone 13. Went back-and-forth and really saw no difference so it was turned off and save perhaps just a tiny bit of battery.

I’m getting mine today but in the apple store it was a lot darker maybe the demo mode isn’t as bright
Yeah as the demo units play the same demo video stuff again and again there’s a possibility that Apple would’ve capped the brightness to avoid Burn-Ins.
