Beause it's all about that moment when you first open that fresh brand new MacBook Box and you are alleluia'd with the magical shininess. Bow.

Because you have too much money that when Apple even speaks of the new release you will order a brand new mac...even when the current one does everything.

Guys on behalf of all the guys who sat here this time last year speculating about when the new ones would come out, spying on apple and best buy employees and raiding Apple Stores, I would like to say stick in there the wait is worth it :D Typed from my 2010 Macbook Pro i7 that I waited months for.

I really really hope the 13" doesn't disappoint. Wanted my first apple laptop but I'd still shop other brands if it comes to it. Even with this new sandy bridge issue, I too think a refresh is right around the corner.

If you want anything more than a dual core sandy bridge processor, Intel integrated graphics and a small-medium amount of blade SSD storage, you can pretty much go ahead and consign yourself to disappointment now. If that's all you want, then it's a pretty safe bet.

My Macbook Pro Intel Core Duo has been having major problems. It has begun to crash at least 20 times a day and is almost unusable. I'm trying to wait, but it's getting to be way too long. However, I'm really hoping to hold out. I'm on a limited budget, so I'm really trying to get the best bang for my buck.

Ever think of fixing the problem so it doesnt repeat itself on the new computer?

Of course I have. Last year I purchased a new logic board from Apple and that fixed the problem for a while.

What is going on now isn't a software issue. The computer frequently crashes, the screen goes black, the fans (I think) spin at full speed without stopping. I have to hold down the power button to shut it down and then can restart it.

Sometimes it stays on for 6 hours, most of the time 3 minutes.

I don't see this repeating on the next computer. Any suggestions on how to fix it would be appreciated.

OK Ok

Well... First the whole family gathers around almost automatically like as if there is some sort of magnetic energy pull. (You can test this out by saying "I need some privacy so i can open this alone" and asking people to leave the room and they will challenenge you like: "why? I want to see!" which just confirms in everyones mind that this is an event and not just opening some random box.)

The first thing that strikes you when you open it is the symmetry, everything just gives forth a glow and you cant help but smily without even realizing youre doing it. You cant help it. People gathered around can only describe it in ways that border on poetry.

Then when you first pull it out and feel it in your hands it feels so solid.

Everything from the weight to the material makes it feel like its out of this world in the most pleasantly monolithic way.

Once you open it the screen and body ratio and overall ergonomical totality is just breathtaking and soothing like eye candy. Its the best toy ever.

Its a portal to the whole world so in a way it is the world actually.

Im gonna go update my Fakelife, I mean Facebook status...

we could still see updates before april despite the flaw for the macbook pro/ or we could see ipad 2 be announced anyway, thus setting the spotlight to be on notebooks with verizon iphone & ipad 2 being done. apple refurb shows limited time prices for ipad. Also, back to mac, Mac Mall is having a blowout sale of macbooks/ mbp's that ends tomorrow at midnight wed Limited, very limited stock remains there. How can apple run low, 3rd parties run low, yet now could face an april update.

AMD chips? no inclusion of SB this time, but rather all the other specs? Apple get the 1st batch of immediate fixed chips this time and not crap Acer or who ever?

Also, apple could still release an early refresh of SB using dual core, not quad core. perhaps a quad BTO will be announced as available later, or given the spec update during WWDC possibly. The flaws now are with quad cores. Or apple still could shed out new lines and utilize the non defective ports anyway. Despite all this intel crap, I still don't foresee a April update coming after April 5th. What do i know? nothing no one else cant guess on, but just saying

According to what I read somewhere, dual core production is delayed, so don't see how Apple could do an early refresh with them.

Ha, sorry for the 3 posts, I read something else and keep thinking of some things. sorry, lastly, from a business /customer oriented perspective, it seems quite unlikely Apple would have had no remote idea, or general idea on an intel flaw of this magnitude yet push on with these supply constraints ( if are to believed for a refresh reason) To wake up, have 3rd party vendors run low, store times slip here and there for hong kong for example etc.. and be like o ****, intel goofed again, back to drawing board like rookies seems out of the picture.

Have a look at the Apple Refurb site, a lot of the older MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iPads, etc. are all being discounted even further. That doesn't usually happen until they're ready to do a refresh...

Kinds reminds me of these apple ads where people describe the new product with such an intensity that it becomes funny.:D
