I’ve got the 11 Pro and my partner got the 11 yesterday.

Perhaps my eye sight is going (I’m only 28!) but I can’t notice a real difference in the displays aside from colour temperature. I haven’t tested HDR content.

I actually prefer the appearance of the aluminium bands around the side.

Not sure I’ll be going 12 Pro next year if the 12 is as close to it as the 11 is to the 11 Pro....

I used to think the same about diff in displays until i observed the same pic of a lawn side by side - 11 and XS. The pic was not taken to compare the screen it just happened.
There is a definitely a diff for me that makes me think and want the OLED.

I am nerd a bit... I like every is tecnological, I wish every techno-gadget... I had a biiiiiig monkey (tipically Italian expression that explain when you ardently want a thing) who jumped for many days on my head when 11 pro was placed on the market... for me zoom, camera, form factor, display worth the different price because as I said, it's subjective.
The people you know that has money but buy 11 only want to have an Iphone, no matter in photography, no matter in technology but it is ok anyway.
When user open topic like this, let me say that some people can think different
The camera on the iPhone 11 is very capable though. That extra camera on the Pro widens the possibilities with photos I agree, but most people tend to use their phones as point and shoot cameras typically. Next year there will be an iPhone with a better camera again. Will we be saying those who buy the Pro at a discount aren’t interested in photography because they haven’t bought the latest best device? Unlikely.

I’m an enthusiast photographer myself with good camera kit. I use an iPhone 8+ as my daily phone. We all have our own subjective preferences with our phones and often price can put people off whether they can afford the best or not. It’s down to justification and what people see as being beneficial rather than simply buying something for the sake of it.

Most people that point and shoot would still use 2 times or wide angle, I mean its right there in the screen under your nose to hit lol. No need to be a pro photographer to make use of that, actually helps the average joe get a better photo.
11 is about 70% as good as 11pro, price reflects it too.

70% as good as the best iPhone and 100% good enough for the users needs are two different things though. A lot of people will compare price first and foremost and the minor details may or may not sway them into paying the £270 premium for the next model.

OLED, zoom lens and stainless steel frame don’t equate to “30%” of the phone for me. YMMV

If we think about the Apple Watch there is a pretty similar situation... We have the Aluminum model at £399 versus the Stainless Steel model at £699 or the Titanium model at £799, etc. The Apple Watch standard model offers the same features (software/Chip inside) but then you pay the extra £/$ for the build quality, the durability, etc. This is really a choice/personal preference etc.

So yes the 11 Pro offers more than the iPhone 11 for sure and will be again personal preferences, own usages.

Has this topic become the topic for those to justify their 11 pro Max to lord over the peasants that got an 11 or a topic for those who are simply happy with a 11? Good lord people!
Right?! On one hand, there’s a decent chance this thread was started by someone who had remorse over cost and decided to move from the Pro to the 11. I say this because he/she decided to make a thread to try and justify their decision.

But on the other hand, it seems many, many Pro adopters are triggered at the thought someone doesn’t hold the same value in the device they chose or ‘gasp’ finds the 11 to be an equally compelling device.

It’s comical at the number of people bashing 11 adopters for justifying their purchase when in the way they do so, are doing the exact same thing lmao.

I know right? I’m perfectly happy with my red 11 and love it. Guess that’s not allowed here... 😆

I think as contributors here we are all aware of the technical differences between the specifications of these devices. Perhaps what is subjective is the emphasis we each place on the actual feature differences of these two iPhones?

Come back when you have owned a Xr, 11 or a 11 pro.

Even better someone cheering for the 11 when they got a 8 plus instead of the Xr a year ago as they didn't see value in the difference haha.

Depends. If someone was drawn to the higher resolution of the 8 Plus, the telephoto lens, preferred Touch ID, and didn’t like the aspect ratio of the narrow Xr they could easily have seen the Xr as regression. The 11 and Pro series’ at least offer more significant upgrades depending on ones use.

they wouldn't like the 11 then, same 720p screen still not as good as 8 plus, bezels same, it was about $$, same banging on now 11 v 11 pro.

Yeah I can see that. Unless maybe camera was the number one priority. The low light capabilities of these new phones is pretty incredible in my opinion and that’s even before taking night mode into account. I had the Pro Max for 13 days before admitting to myself that pwm is indeed an issue for me. That’s one hell of a phone. Already miss it but I guess that’s life.

Did you notice the issues from pwm from day 1? I can’t tell if that’s my issue or something else. I’m at day 14 right now.

I’m the worst person to ask honestly because I went into these OLED options last year and this year knowing about that possibility so I hyper fixated on it. I knew I wasn’t experiencing it to the degree others were, but ‘something’ was off. Well, I returned it today and fired up the ol 8 Plus. Sure enough, same crap I was blaming the Pro Max for. So in my case, I think it was self manifested from anxiety of wondering and hyper focusing on if I was affected. I don’t know for sure, but I think for those truly affected they know pretty quickly and it’s all the time, not intermittent.

Thanks for the reply. Greatly appreciated.

What is missing you from your current 11?
I had the Pro Max and that for me was an amazing experience. I miss the huge screen, the cameras, the speakers....pretty much was my ideal phone aside from what I think was PWM. I am torn between grabbing the regular 11 or just using this 8 Plus in hopes something changes with the screens of the 2020 phones.

I think for many in this thread, issue has been value. Do they ‘value’ the differences between the Pro and regular 11 to justify the difference in price. For me, there are definitive trade-offs between the regular 11 and 8 Plus whereas the Pro Max ticked all the boxes for me.

That pretty much sums up this entire thread and all the back and forth between 11 vs 11 pro. Do you value the difference? If not get the 11, and if so and finances aren’t an issue then get the pro. I got the pro max but for what I use the phone for I could easily just use the regular 11. But I do enjoy the hardware aesthetics of the max over the 11. I do like the oled display with its ppi and contrast. I like the battery life. And from what I understand the connectivity is maybe better? Like 4x4 mimo vs 2x2 mimo in the 11. There may be something I missed other than the telephoto lens. could I live without those differences and probably end up using the phone the same way either one I get. Sure

The size really doesn’t look that different. How much different is battery life really? I can get two full days out of the pro max.

I just don’t want there to be issue with the screen. I’m one that keeps the phone a long long time.

I have the 11 Pro and I get 2 days of battery life easily. no background app refresh except for Mail and WhatsApp, screen brightness @75%

It's the perfect size for me as I hate big phones yet has all the bells and whistles (ie. all the camera features, CPU, storage options, RAM)

I am at the opposite side of the spectrum. Using iPhone X and can’t get used to a LCD screen. It sucks for me, but I’m glad it worked out for you.

Really? I can get barely 5 hrs of battery life on my 2-year X :O. Battery capacity at 84% though. I don’t know why but for me, the battery life always sucked on the X from the start.
My current problem is that XR and 11 suck because they are too big and have LCD, the Max is just too big but has above-average battery life. 5.7 is ideal, but I need that sweet battery life! Previously had a 7 Plus which lasted for two days. Man I miss that :(.

I love how a person states their opinion and the bulk of the replies are to tell them how much better the Pro is. Well, yeah, it's also $300-$400 more. Regardless of why the OP returned the pro, the iPhone 11 is just fine for the vast majority of people.
